EX Discussion # 2: Raichu

Dont forget, the Pichu from SS has the ability to "evolve" (sorta) into a Richu EX. Pichu's Power to place Pika on top, then evolve normally.... so wouldnt you be able to recall Pichu's attack using a Memory Berry?

If so, Mem Berry, + Retreat aids (switch, warp point/energy ect.) can keep Riachu EX going a ways, often long enough to take 6 prizes. I think running 2/2 SS/SK Riachu is a good idea as well. I would try some Grass tech for Fighting, or go with Flyers for their fighting resistance.

That is the exact basis of my Raichu EX deck. It seems to work well. Just its so tempting to just plain evolve pikachu into Raichu and just forget Pichu. Now if we could Rare Candy Pichu into Raichu EX then it would be golden. My deck is here:

You should be able to rare candy SS pichu no? "Put the stage one or two on the basic pokemon" as the SS babies are basics that works right? But you wouldn't get the Babby evolution advantage because it only says specifically for Pikarat.

Nope. The reason is sort of complicated, but you can't do it that way. It has to do with the way Pichu "evolves", via a Power or a "rule" (depending on which Pichu). You can find out more on the Compendium. Raichu ex just doesn't seem worth it to me. I always try to have at least one FIghting Pokemon in my Eon decks, since things like Linoone and Delcatty are so common as back up. So against me, chances are its something like:

See Raichu ex nuke a Pokemon of mine.

See Solrock with a Strength charm smash Raichu ex.

Get my point?

Even sans Strength Charm, it still means that you will at best break even from using the thing (after Solrock hits, pretty much anything can finish of 'chu... and if you use Nurse to heal, Solorck will be able to hit again...).
