I've seen a couple other unanswered threads about this, just wanted to lay out all the scenarios I see.

Grenijna’s Shadow Stitching vs Bronzong’s Metal Fortress

Based on the Suicune ruling, Shadow Stitching appears to be a new type of effect, that persists even when something was preventing it at the time of attack. Based on the Suicune vs Shadow Stitching ruling I would guess that:

a) If Bronzong Metal Fortress ever becomes active, is Metal Fortress ever in play again for the rest of the turn? (I think no.)

b) If Bronzong Metal Links that was on the bench along with Bronzong Metal Fortress at the time of Shadow Stitching, while still on the bench it can use Metal Links.

However, if it becomes active, can it still use Metal Links? (I think no.)

c) Also, if it goes back to the bench after becoming active (after initially being protected by Metal Fortress), can it use Metal Links? (I think no.)

This brings up a bigger question about Bronzong’s Metal Fortress. Does Metal Fortress protect against effects even beyond the time of attack? In the old sense of rulings (agility, smokescreen etc.) these were effects that once removed (go to the bench, evolve) they disappeared. Shadow Stitching appears to be a new kind of effect that somehow lasts on the field even if prevented at the time of attack. If that preventing mechanism goes away after the fact, Shadow Stitching re-appears.

So if this is an effect that lasts the entire turn, does Metal Fortress prevent it even on pokemon that weren’t on the bench at the time of attack?

d) If Metal Fortress is in play during a Shadow Stitching attack, and then I evolve a benched Bronzor to Bronzong Metal Links can I use Metal Links?

(I think the current ruling would be no. But that ruling seems to treat ‘Shadow Stitching’ and ‘Metal Fortress’ differently. If you read the text of Metal Fortress, it just says prevent effects of attacks. Is not Shadow Stitching an effect of an attack? Why does it matter if the Metal Links Bronzong wasn’t protected at the time of attack (as it wasn’t in play). Why does Bronzong’s Metal Fortress not extend for the entire turn and Shadow Stitching does? Is Shadow Stitching unique?

Also if the answer to d. is yes, I think that would mean the answer to c. would be yes)

Similarly one could ask:

e) If I evolve to Golbat Sneaky Bite while Metal Fortress was in play during Shadow Stitching, can I use its power?

(If the answer to d. is no, then clearly this is no. If the answer to d. is yes, then we’d have to ask is golbat’s ability when used ‘on the bench’ and protected or is it a ’not on bench’ ability?)

f) If I evolve my Bronzor into Metal Fortress Bronzong after a Shadow Stitching, does Metal Fortress turn on at all?

(I think the answer would be no regardless of other answers, but it would be worth checking.)

Thanks.
