I decided to try this deck a couple of weeks ago after I came back from GenCon. At first look, it looks like it's impossible to run. But in actuality, it's quite good. The only games I've lost are games where I barely get setup, and either get energy screwed, or pokemon screwed (where I have nothing except one)

Pokemon
3 Mewtwo ex
3 Magmar ex
3 Hitmonchan ex
3 Electabuzz ex
2 Nosepass

Trainers
4 Birch
4 PokeNav
4 Lady Outing
4 Potion
4 Oran berry
2 Switch

Energy
6 Psychic
6 Lightning
6 Fighting
6 Fire

This list looks pretty generic, but I've playtested it a little. I DID play Sneasel ex, but I'm testing it without to see how it works. Hitmonchan is needed (even though it's not that good) for anti-Slaking, which is going to be a huge deck.

Thoughts?

Good deck. There's just the question of what'd happen with PokéNav if you get three Trainers, but not even the top experts know that answer.

It looks fine to me the only possible thing I could think of is maybe Trying to add the 3rd swtich? because most guys in the deck cant retreat without a big discard. Anyways nice deck Jon

OMG Rand0m's posting a deck so it must be horrible ;x

Looks good, I guess I'd take out a Magmar and 1-2 Fire Energy to add in another Switch, and some Pokéball.... I guess...

This is deck seems to be quite solid, but putting in at least 2 Energy Searchs would help out to get those certain energies when you don't have Lady Outing.

I suppose I could drop a Nosepass for a Switch... but I don't know how to fit Pokeball in. I don't want to drop energy simply because at this point, I seem to GET the energy when I need it. I could probably drop 1 of each energy for the Pokeballs... since I do have Lady Outing.

Do any of you have other ideas for Pokemon? I've actually tried a lot of different versions of this... Sneasel ex, Lapras ex, Scyther ex... I've found that I like these 4 a lot together. Could Chansey ex work in here? And would it be worth it?

eeww RaNd0m is here... and I'm guessing that Venasaur is jermy... nice deck although you did work with MoS(of all people) to create it. The pokeballs are needed for sure, so do what Venasaur said to do. 4 lady outing should be enough right?

I agree 6.5 lady outing works. Anyway prolly dropping 1 of each energy for Pokeballs is a good idea. But IMO you should drop 1 of ur EXs for Ex Chansey, maybe Buzz... There isn't gonna be a lot of steal running around anyway so if thats why you are using it maybe dropping one would be a good idea. So anyway good deck, it looks like its the fasted of the RS decks i've seen so far. ttyl and i am hot

Problem is: the speed and tempo advantages that ER and SER is most of what made Haymaker, Haymaker. The deck looks solid, but the lack of disruption hurts it.

All in all, I'd say Haymaker's doing right well for itself. Zorak wouldn't be pleased if he were still around (for those who don't know, he was the Haymaker-hating giant mantis who wielded a Vaporizer and flushed pansy Haymakers down the toilet, trademarking a very loud, evil laugh).

Ok actually, I'm considering dropping a Lightning and a Fire for 2 Energy Searches. Pokeball, in my opinion, is bad. I know it's search, but I don't see it as being worth playing.

Also, I know this isn't even a true definition haymaker. It's the best RS can offer though ;x

I think you're low on Trainers. You could probably drop about 2 Energy of each type for Trainers. Of course, I'm not familiar with most of the R&S Trainers, so I can't really say which ones.

Lol. That's just it dkates, there arent very many more. You have to play a ton of energy in this format because there isn't enough draw to play less, and the risk of being energy-screwed forces you to play at least 20 to 25 energy. Rarely can you go less than that, and if you do, it's with a mono-type deck.

Alex and I were playing earlier, and his version of the haymaker included Delcatty. I quickly realized it's completely BROKEN, and it's a staple. I've actually made the deck idea much smaller and much simpler, using only TWO attackers now... Mewtwo ex and Magmar ex. These two are THE BEST ex pokemon in the game.
3 Skitty
3 Delcatty
4 Magmar ex
4 Mewtwo ex

10 Psychic
8 Fire

4 Birch
4 Pokenav
4 Potion
4 Oran Berry
4 Energy Search
4 ER 2
2 Pokeball
2 Switch

Delcatty ultimately makes it where you CAN lower the energy count... and raise the trainer count. It also combos extremely well with Mewtwo ex, putting the psychic in the discard for you. It's still a third turn Mewtwo ex at best, but it at least lets you attach to something else, which is a pivotal move.

I see how your combo with Magmar EX which is not bad, but IMO Electabuzz EX would be better with its resistance to Steel is very good. It can eliminate water pokemon like Swampert and Wailord that Magmar EX is weakened to. Electabuzz EX weakness fighting would be helped out by Mewtwo EX. Especially Electabuzz EX having a possibility of 60 damage rather than a straight 40 from Magmar EX. Not mention Magmar EX would help out against Scizor.

But Magmar Ex and Mewtwo EX is still awesome :thumb:
