The Challenge of a BIG Event

• Large events can be confusing at times. It is sometimes hard to hear the announcements. At the beginning of a round, when everyone is moving to their table, it is easy to become lost in the crowd. Judges, staff and volunteers are available to help you in the event that a problem arises. If you need assistance finding your table or aren’t sure what you should be doing next, ask a staff or volunteer for assistance. If at any point you or your opponent is having trouble understanding what is going on, call for a judge.

• It is your job to make sure your opponent knows what you are doing during your turn. Tell your opponent what you are doing as you take actions; don’t assume he or she can figure it out. If your opponent does something you don’t understand, ask for an explanation. If it still makes no sense to you, call a judge.

• Use the Universal Language of Pokémon:
o Follow the rules for Paralyzed, Asleep, and Confused
o Use markers for Poison and Burn
o Make sure all cards attached to your Active Pokémon are visible to your opponent

• Stop play and call a judge immediately if you have any question about what is going on, or if there is a problem that needs to be resolved. Judges cannot always correct a problem if play has continued.
