I know a couple people from Washinton is coming down that weekend. Also some players from Twin Falls might come. Im sure we will get around 30 or more players. Flyers have been mailed out all over the State with hopes of getting players from all over to come and play in Idaho's first PUI tournament. :D

    Hello Gym Leader Blaine....

I will post this here instead of a PM....

As you know I will be attending the Idaho Pokemon State Championship with my 12 year old son and 8 year old daughter...

I took the familiy to ID last weekend.... Yesterday, on the way home I stopped by the Game Shop that will be hosting the State Championship next Saturday......

Anyway, I found 10 anxious players wanting to play.....I introduced myself to the Card Shop owner and players....

I encouraged the card shop owner to get signed up for Leagues and (sorry about this) signing up with PUI to run tournaments....)...

Anyway... I asked the10 or so kids ages 8 - 20 if they had ever played in a Booster draft......

They responded no....I found out these players have not had access to all the league kits and promos.....anyway...(Having a box of TMA available from a previous event.....) we held an impromptu booster draft.

Each Player was given 4 TMA packs. I explained how the Draft was conducted and we spent some time drafting and building 40 card decks.....We then played 4 rounds of swiss.....I gave away some copies of the CC Promo, TMA Promo, holo metal energies from league and some extra badges... the top four players got the holo metal energies and badges...(All players were winners because they got 4 TMA packs for .....well almost nothing!?!?!?)............

The players played for about 1.5 hours...I met a mom of one of the kids .... won her over to the game...
The Card shop gave out additional packs to the winners...

Why did I do this some may ask.?!?!?!?!

I did it to foster excitement among the local players to get the ready for next weekend....I think you will have 10 very excited playrs for next weekend....I hope this increases your attendance at your hosted event next weekend...

I hope to see you there!!!!!!!!!

Not a problem, but just so you know the shop is signed up for Leagues. Their past Gym Leaders butted heads with the owner and let three months ago and took the stores League ID and Password with her from what the owner said. I got with PUI got the League infomation, gave it to the owner, and even order Season 8 league kit for her. So they have league kits on the way. Plus when I am down this weekend she asked for me to go over stuff with her on the leauge.

As for running PUI tournaments, PUI is already looking at a couple of people in the area to do this, I was just asked to start tournaments up in the area since there has not been any so far. There is the State Championship and also an HL Prerelease planned for Idaho. Then the plan is to have most of the tournaments turned over to the PTO the PUI decideds on so tournaments will contiune in the area.

Thank you for your help with getting some excitement from the local players. I think this will be a very good turn out. I have mailed out flyers to card shops all over Idaho with the hopes of letting as many players know about the tournament. I look forward to meeting you next weekend when your family comes down to play.

I was just wondering, you helped them learn about the booster draft which will be great with the prerelease in June, were you able to help them with know they needed modified decks for this weekend at all or help them make them? Just wondering.

    Thanks,

I explained that only cards from Expediction on are legal... One of the older players seemed to understand.....

I quickly did mention deck lists may be required...

They play sort of an unlimited theme at league....I believe this tournament will be good for them in the longrun..

I suspect that some of the youger players will need help with their decks...

This is a group of great players but I don't know how much experience this group has in playing in official tournament settings since they have not played in such an environment ....for a while.......

Thanks for passing along the info, I have also told the owner so she can help out too. We are planning to come early in the mornin to help people with their decks were we can. Plus there will be a unlimited tournament after the main one so everyone can play with any deck, and we will be giving out TM vs TA packs so we can get some of the new cards into the players hands also.

Wow, now that is a loaded question. Old enough to be a TO and Professor, but not old enough to need to retire. Does that help :p
