Iron Chef - Master Emeritus
Now, for those of you that don't know what's been going on in the deck forum, I have been running a deck contest to select seven people that will represent Pokegym in a sort of national/world championship-esque tournament run by yours truly...the only differenc from regular tourniese?

No playing at ALL! Just simply deckbuilding...the ultimate test on not only your ability to make a quality list, but also to find usage for all of your cards, as well as a way to make it all unique and creative. Sadly, these seven people are not the first, but rather the last to join the hallowed ranks of invitees to Iron Chef's "Tournament of Champions." With my sixteen competitors chosen, on an undisclosed date, these people will duel to decide the ultimate champion of deckbuilding!

However, you may be asking..."Who all is invited?" Well, in addition to these previously invited people:

-Pooka (1st place, Age of Yamato)
-Dendrobatida (2nd place, Age of Yamato)
-Whicker (T8, Age of Kabuto)
-Hypnosproject HQ (T8, Age of Kabuto)
-Criminal (T8, Age of Kabuto)
-Slimeygrimey (T8, Age of Kabuto)
-Superwooper (T8, Age of Kabuto)
-Metagross (T8, Age of Kabuto)
-Magnechu (9th place trickle-down, Age of Kabuto)
-Gymbo ex (7th place, The Grinder)
-??? (Grinder)
-??? (Grinder)
-??? (Grinder)
-??? (Grinder)
-??? (Grinder)
-??? (Grinder)

We have these TWELVE fighting for the last seven spots:

~~~GRINDER FINALISTS~~~
~Blazi-King~
FlipsareCool
Pidgeotto Trainer
Venusaur
Acutin
Mr. Meches
Gymbo ex (7th)
Rokman (8th)
Bullados (12th)
P.S.: If you are among these twelve, please PM Big Daddy Snorlax your name and address so that you may receive your prizes =)
So wish 'em luck, and may the best cuisine reign supreme! :D
“Hi John!
I got the idea for this deck back at the Maryland State Championships and decided to tweak it for this contest. You can't lose in swiss but it definately would be very hard to win a 2/3
Fossil-Stall
Pokemon 8
4 Nincada
4 Shedinja
Trainers
4 Root Fossil
4 Claw Fossil
4 Mysterious Fossil
4 Copycat
4 Rocket's Admin
4 Celio's Network
4 Professor Oak's Research
4 Pokemon Reversal
3 Rare Candy
3 Pokemon Retriever
2 Scott
2 Great Ball
2 ATM Rock
Energy 8
4 Heal Energy
4 Cyclone
The strategy is simple, Get a prize and Stall!!!11!!!!1!!11!111!!
Here's how the game will play out...
Time 0.00-10.00 They will focus on getting set up, they'll use Quick Search, Jirachi, etc..... You will get a Shedinja or two and work on getting a prize, alot of people will probably let you get a prize but if they don't, you need to use Pokemon Reversal and ATM Rock. Make sure you play slow......
Time 10.00-30.00 They will slowly increase their speed realizing that it's going to take more time than they thought to win. You play slow....
In order to REALLY see how this happens look at this normal turn.
Begining of your turn,
0.00 Draw your card, think...
0.10 Play a Supporter that requires shuffling
0.12 Begin your supporter
0.15 Begin shuffling
0.25 Present your deck to your opponent
0.27 Cut your opponent's deck (If you admined)
0.30 Play a non-supporter
0.40 Think...
0.45 Attack...
0.50 Your opponent begins their turn.
You just burned 50 seconds in a turn, assuming your opponent takes a 10 second turn. (Which they will once they figure out your strategy. The total is 1 min per turn. 12 Fossils and 4+ Shedinja means a minimum of 16 minutes AFTER they're able to OHKO your fossils. Luckily it normarly takes significantly longer than that.
The end result is you win 6-5! GGNORE!
Thanks!
-Jordan”
Deck (7/10): Nice list and very solid strategy on how to play it, but it seems lacking in some areas. Great Ball count is dangerously low, retriever could be upped, and rare candy just doesn’t seem as useful as, say, Wally’s Training. Pokemon Reversal and the energy line, however, are solid foundations for the deck.
Creativity (2/5): I wouldn’t say this is very unique. Rather, it’s basically the same deck that it was a year ago, only with 40 more HP on Mysterious Fossil.
Card Use (3/5): A lot of the things I stated on the deck list can be applied directly to the use, too: if you max your retriever and great ball count (or even make it 3), then that gives you much more opportunity to shuffle in one turn (non supporters!). Wally’s Training? That’s FOUR more shuffles, so by simply playing those cards, your one hour time limit goes down another one and a half/two minutes, etcetc. However, the max of every shuffle draw is a great play, and I congratulate you on it :D
OVERALL: 12/20
~~~5th Place: Mr. Meches~~`

“Tried to go outside of the box for you Johnny... and not use what I think you are seeing! I am sure Clay used my Tech as well for Mirror matches.. he laughed when I told him about it then started thinking, "you have a point".... SO here is My STAR Performer list!

Pokemon 14
3 Corsola (UF)
2 Omanyte
3 Omastar (Main Attacker for Drag Off and passin around the 30 Damage)
3 Kabuto (Allows no Weakness and gives Omastar +20 on attacks)
1 Kabutops (Additional attacker against Exes)
1 Lileep
2 Cradilly (Devolution and Bench Damage)

Trainers 23
4 Mysterious Fossil
4 Claw Fossil
4 Root Fossil
3 Swoop! Teleporter (need T1 Corsola)
1 ATM Ice (Mirror Match)
3 Rare Candy
2 Strange Cave
2 Giant Stump (Can Discard Fossil Whenever Wanted)

Supporters 11
3 Steven’s Advice
3 Bill’s Maintenance
3 Admin
2 Briney’s Compassion

Energy 12
4 React (For Cradilly and also Omastar Drag off and Corsola CFH is only C attack cost)
4 Double Rainbow (Allows everything to be full going without energy Issues)
4 Rainbow (Allows all nrg)

Thanks for doing this work JK!! Your are an asset to mankind!! at least Pokemankind!
Fish!”

Deck (5/10): Good list, with interesting ideas. However, no direct way to fetch your Pokemon other than Corsola really hurts you, but with that said, ‘Sola is an excellent addition to any kabutops/omaster-esque deck like this one. I think that “only” two strange cave hurts a lot, but the swoops seem good. Energy is low, too. I can’t really rate the list high because there’s a good deal that I disagree about, but you have a lot going for you.

Creativity (4/5): I think that, despite the list lacking, there is a huge amount of creativity put into this. Corsola is just AWESOME, as is the ATM (Ice) (not only for mirror, but just the format as a whole). Omaster/Kabutops is nothing new, but with Cradily, it’s actually pretty nasty if you can put enough damage on everything of theirs in play ;D

Card Use (3/5): It has helped you in the previous two categories, and this one is no different: Corsola is a very, very nice card in decks like these, and its use is just flat-out GOOD! We have the regular stuff, as always, and a nice mixture of Fossil evolutions, so I’d say you did a good job, here!

OVERALL: 12/20 (tiebreaker on creativity)

Final Four. Personally I liked the Shedinja deck with Zapdos of the decks revealed so far.

It did have a certain Synergy to it, didnt it ? You could even run 2-3 of the different birds:thumb:

Nah, I liked the strategy of just waiting til times called and winning then. You don't want the birds to stay in play or to start with them.
