After some consideration, I have decided to go ahead and forgo the 3rd round of swiss. The scores have basically maintained in a sense and I feel another round would just be fruitless. So with that said, I have decided its time for Top Cut.

Each pod has been averaged out for the top 8 finishers, the highest average will play the lower average.

Here are the averages of all 4 pods, enjoy.

    Pod 1
    Highest Score = DragonClyne725 = 38
    Lowest Score = Rambo = 18
    All 8 Average = 29

    Pod 2
    Highest Score = Rainbowgym = 35
    Lowest Score = Gertrude G = 28
    All 8 Average = 32.25

    Pod 3
    Highest Score = Cabd = 33
    Lowest Score = Kezzup = 28
    All 8 Average = 30.625

    Pod 4
    Highest Score = bullados = 35
    Lowest Score = Vablakes = 31
    All 8 Average = 32.625

So it will be the high seed vs the low seed, typical bracket format

    Top Seed
    Pod 4
    Low Seed
    Pod 1

    2nd Seed
    Pod 2
    vs 3rd Seed
    Pod 3

    Here is the overall seeding

    Pod 1

    1) DragonClyne725 = 38
    2) sKizor = 34
    3) hampuse1 = 34
    4) Garch = 34
    5) Hatter = 32
    6) sunchris = 30
    7) Ace- = 30
    8) Rambo = 18

    Pod 2

    1) Rainbowgym = 35
    2) Matijs = 34
    3) King Piplup= 33
    4) Goldedda = 33
    5) PMysterious = 32
    6) Shino Bug Master = 32
    7) pnoodle5 = 31
    8) Gertrude G = 28

    Pod 3

    1) Cabd = 33
    2) Time for Pain = 33
    3) Redwater = 32
    4) SuperE = 31
    5) BeedrillBoy = 31
    6) AzuK = 29
    7) Normal Guy = 28
    8) Kezzup = 28

    Pod 4

    1) bullados = 35
    2) pokemonrocks777=34
    3) ShadowGuard = 33
    4) Dark Shedinja = 32
    5) vaporeon = 32
    6) Eonic = 32
    7) SummerDaze = 32
    8) Vablakes = 31

I have decided that for the fairness of the tournament, it will be distributed by an overall of top 16 for each side.

So between Pod 1 & Pod 4, here is the overall Top 16
    1) DragonClyne725
    2) bullados
    3) pokemonrocks777
    4) sKizor
    5) hampuse1
    6) Garch
    7) ShadowGuard
    8) Dark Shedinja
    9) Hatter
    10) vaporeon
    11) Eonic
    12) SummerDaze
    13) Vablakes
    14) sunchris
    15) Ace-
    16) Rambo

    Pod 2 & Pod 3 Top 16
    1) Rainbowgym
    2) Matijs
    3) Cabd
    4) King Piplup
    5) Goldedda
    6) Time for Pain
    7) Redwater
    8) PMysterious
    9) Shino Bug Master
    10) SuperE
    11) BeedrillBoy
    12) pnoodle5
    13) AzuK
    14) Gertrude G
    15) Normal Guy
    16) Kezzup

So obviously it will be high seed vs low seed and so on.
Here is a bracket for your viewing pleasure and voting if you'd like to vote for who you think will win.
    Iron Chef Bracket

Be ready for the challenge to start tomorrow or Monday.

General information, this will be SINGLE ELIMINATION. There will not be as long as a deadline as last time. There may be extensions to each round if both players agree to it, but only by a few days.

I will be creating 2 different thread for your challenge.
If you are in Pod 1 or Pod 4, your thread will be labeled Group 1
If you are in Pod 2 or Pod 3, your thread will be labeled Group 2.

I know, VERY catchy names. I felt simplicity was perfect!

Good luck to everyone for when the challenge begins. Have fun!!

Also, there will be a new grading system for the Top 32.

    Deck X/10 Creativity X/5 Card Use X/5.

    Ha ha, I'm super excited!

Huge thanks to Vegeta for prizes and Pokegym too.

Also kudos for setting up this amazing competition, it's so cool to see some of the best players in the 'gym show their best, masterful work!

So glad to get that Card Use separated from Creativity. I'd have no shot if Creativity were worth half my grade...

    Expect the challenge today!

[/COLOR]There will also be an online challenge portion. It will be a best of 3 series utilizing either or the Redshark program. PTCGO will NOT work for the given formats and challenges.

I need viewers approval since I really havent talked much about this. It was used last tournament and it was affective in terms of seeing what deck was legit and what was not.

So feel free and tell me if you would like to see this or not. If your reason is because you have a mac and cannot download Redshark, I'd understand. If its because you are just too lazy to download a small program file like Redshark, then that will NOT be acceptable.

I'm fine to use Playtcg. I can't see how it will really help determine anything honestly. This format's variance is off the charts, but I'm not opposed to the idea. Unless i'm forced to use Redshark. No one should have to download Redshark with an inclient alternative.

Playtcg is good, Redshark would be a headache, but feasible.
  7. Rainbowgym

No, i don't want to play online.
Tried that before but due to time difference it never works
  8. Matijs

I don't want to play online either, time difference. And I've got a mac.
  9. pnoodle5

I could manage either but i don't quite understand, would it then be a graded portion or just a better way for you to test/evaluate?

Other question is, will Plasma Storm be legal? The official US release of the set is Feb 6 but will it be legal at all during the challenges?

To elaborate, this is only if we must do online. I also would prefer we not.

Why would we need to play in a deck building contest?
  12. Vegeta ss4

You would need to play in a deckbuilding contest to prove your deck was built correctly. I love the idea of an online challenge. It makes the competition more real, makes it in my opinion more fun. I did however forget about the time zone differences, so I guess it will NOT work out to well. It is a shame because I think it worked out fairly well last time.

The Mac situation is understandable, the time zone situation is understandable. The downloading of Redshark however is not, it is a good program, a great tool to use in a sense and it is free with a small memory cost. would have a few potential problems in the challenges to come.

After consideration to most of everyone who has replied, I will NOT make the online challeng a grading portion. I do however encourage, for the fun of it play against your opponent. After grading has been done. I've heard from a few players last tournament that actually liked the idea of the online portion, just weren't sold on actually grading it because a coin flip does matter. So again, feel free to challenge your opponent, to online play. No points will be rewarded or subtracted. It will be for bragging rights. Does that sound fair?

Challenge up in a couple of hours. Currently deciding on a format to use.
    SPOILER, Stage 2.

Pnoodle5, I will make the Plasma Storm set legal if I can find exact scans of EVERY card in the set. I honestly have not checked Beach for that information. I did not participate in any pre-releases, so it would be a bad idea unless I got a full layout of the entire(from what I hear) crummy set.

Bebe's search has them all, IIRC.

And I think online play should be something we do seriously once we get to t8 or so.
  14. pnoodle5

I think researching tower has scans too.

    Could be wrong.

Online play was for Top 8. I wasn't going to do it for Top 32.
  16. cabd

Well, with that clarification, I have no issue with it. Just give top 8 and above more time to arrange match-ups.

I still don't understand what online play would do for this competition. Obviously if a deck is "built right" it should work, but this format gives us no tools to streamline anything. It's all draw and pray. Again, i'm fine with Playtcg, but i just don't see what it adds to this kind of a competition, especially if its for such a small fraction of the tournament anyway.
  18. BeedrillBoy

I don't want to do online play as the winner will be determined by skill at the table, not in deckbuilding.

Also, what is to stop my opponent from stealing my ideas?

I think he's talking about online play as a supplement, not the entire match.

I even play the decks I made in the past in real tournaments. I don't care so much about CPoints and using this kind of decks is fun.
I had my stage1 deck ready for a CC last sunday but due to expected snow and such I stayed home.

Sorry but time difference is really a pain, for me right now it's far after midnight while for North America the evening still has to start.
Mix it with working shifts and you will find out it's very difficult to get in touch to play.
