Judging and playing at the same time.

No one hates Austrailia. Get over yourself.

Lol. Just... Lol.

I got over myself a long time ago.

The fact this thread was made (And still up) in the first place shows that some people need to get over themselves.

All it's doing is smearing our Judges and players. And is a very unnecesary place for this discussion.

Krucifer, why are you getting so angry about this whole thing? Yes, this is an international site, with most of the people being from the US, but things like the situation that happened to you guys can happen anywhere. The US is not immune to that at all. It could easily happen here. I don't see where Pokepop's hate for the Aussies even begins to set in. Maybe I'm blind on the whole thing, but I haven't seen this huge flamewar just yet. It's a topic for discussion, and being handled as such. I don't see the huge problem.

Ok Kru.... you caught us I'll come clean and confess. The real reason we are all so anti-Australian is that we are still smarting over that time you guys stole the Americas Cup from us back in the '80's.

Yes, Ian, perhaps you are right, I did jump the gun with my "black and white" comment. Unfortunately there have been some instances of people insisting that an event was tainted in their eyes due to the spectre of improprietry. I therefore tend to avoid those situations, and encourage others to do the same. However, you can certainly see in this thread where those who did not avoid that situation were involved in a bit of a problem. Wouldn't it have been wiser to stay as neutral as possible? Perhaps some might have a problem with that, but I'm sure that the head judge, or TO could have taken care of the situation with the available info and help at hand ...... if they would have had it on hand. I won't pretend to tell you I'm a smart guy. In fact, I know for sure there are guys who are way smarter than me - and that applies to 99% of the population. Of the 1% who I don't figure are smarter than me, they probably are smarter than me in some other area, that I may not care about! However - I'm sure I have the confidence to handle just about any situation in pokemon judging, if I have the right info from the players, and the right guidelines to use to my advantage. Now if I can be that confident, and I'm not the smartest guy on the planet, others can too. If your personal situation is such that you have been asked for info (just to be clear on this, I have been asked too when I wasn't a judge), you as a NON-judge have to weigh the consequences very carefully. Sure, if you feel you can answer the question, then do so, but don't pretend that your answer won't have consequences - as this thread clearly proves.

As for the Australia thing is concerned, I don't think the thread is an Austalian beef. This could be a situation covered in any country. If you feel slighted by it due to a personal experience, well, perhaps there's nothing we can do about that, but the answers are the same if the event considered was played in Australia, Antarctica, or America. Don't feel bad. We're all in the same boat in this.

I do. I have ever since the Australian-American war. Hopefully someone who shops at Ammunation gets that joke.

But seriously, during the one game that I get to play at leagues, I still
have to judge, and it is an impossible feat, requiring the patience of my opponent (although they do know what they are getting in to). It should never be attempted by someone in a tournament setting (even if they are informally aiding), as it's impossible to keep everything straight.

What's wrong with Australia? God, I just hate racism. Not trying to mini-mod or anything, can this stay on topic? I dislike the sight of racism.

You obviously seem to treat Australians different. You delete all the threads like this that come from America. But you let the Australian ones devolve into a flame fest.

....no, those are useally locked or deleted after they reach 5+ pages and are spam and flaming.

Phione thread for 1
The MANY Martin threads
The MANY Sour Grapes threads
The bored lockdown thread.

hmmmm, yeah he deletes ALL the American threads that complain about internal stuff.

aussie aussie aussie, oi oi oi!!

but aren't aussies white too? except for the asian and indian immigrants. (i'm asian so do not take this as a racist comment)

.. Mayflower anyone? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mayflower

Whilst it is true that it is not possible to have the role of both player and judge at the same event that does not prevent (or even protect) players from being asked questions on card interactions and rullings. I can't speak for the whole of the rest of the world but my UK experience is that very few tournaments have dedicated judge staff. The majority have a single TO/HJ. In some UK tournaments I've attended the TO knew so little about pokemon that there was no competent judging available outside the players. I expect that the UK is not the only place in the world where this is the case.

Then perhaps the ones who do organize the events over there should consider having all the files and forms available that POP gives to TO's. Also a copy of the compendium ex and compendium LVX. If they don't feel confident enough to competently judge, or can't competently judge, it's best that they learn, or .... I hate to say it, but perhaps those who continue to need advice from players should consider stopping organizing the events until they can learn the game. And those who go to the events should insist that those resources are used - otherwise as far as I'm concerned the results are suspect. Those who do not use those resources make me believe they are doing the event for the money only. In the UK case, I understand it's not all cut and dry of course since (in most instances) you pay for each venue through the nose, so therefore many can't afford to pay judging staff. Surely there are a few individuals who would judge and be good at it for little compensation. I realize that there are few (and especially few in the western world), but there must be some somewhere. However, those who don't employ judges should at least come up to a certain standard. In any case, that brings this thread off topic, so if we want to discuss this perhaps another thread would be the best idea.

All opinions expressed in this post are my own and do not reflect the decisions of either the gym, or POP in any way. However if those of you feel the same way, perhaps it's time we finally did something about this.

I think what Australia really wants is an apology for being forced to release the Pikachu World Collection.

Well, while discussing "internal issues" won't get a topic locked, being hopelessly off topic will, so click.
