I know Kabutops is not released yet, but i think it affects somehow the rules, because the powers are similar.

Dark Vileplume: Hay Fever - No Trainer cards can be played.

Vileplume Ex: Block Dust - As long as Vileplume ex is your Active Pokemon, your opponent can't play any Trainer cards. (except for Supporter cards)

Kabutops Translation: Ancient Shell As long as this Pokemon is your Active Pokemon, your opponent can’t play any Trainer cards from his or her hand.

    Compendium text about Fossils:

While in play, Mysterious Fossil, Claw Fossil, and Root Fossil, count as both Trainer cards and as Pokémon. Previous rulings did not consider them to be "Trainer cards" while in play. (Apr 5, 2005 PUI Announcements; Apr 7, 2005 PUI Rules Team)

    Skull Fossil Text:
Play Skull Fossil as if it were a C Basic Pokemon. (Skull Fossil counts as a Trainer card as well, but if Skull Fossil is Knocked Out, this counts as a Knocked Out Pokemon.)

So... since Kabutops still unreleased... i have Dark Vileplume or Vileplume Ex active, can my opponent play X Fossil (Skull, Mysterious, Claw, etc...) from his/her hand? I think the text is confusing, i should play it like a Pokemon, but counting it in the bench or active (When already played) like Pokemon and Trainer?

    Thanks!

Since Fossils are also considered Trainers, they could not be played while those effects were in place.
