Kevin's World Experience

Hey everyone, this is Kevin. That black twin with the Gardevoir deck. Everyone told me that I should post on Pokegym so I decided that I was going to. Worlds was a blast. I won my invite and free trip from the Oklahoma Gym Challenge. I went 9-0-1 with my Gardevoir deck that I played with in Worlds.

Here's my deck list to start:

2 Gardevoir Ex
2 Gardevoir
3 Kirlia
4 Ralts
2 Delcatty
2 Skitty
2 Magneton
2 Magnemite
1 Wobbaffet
4 Dunsparce
4 Steven's Advice
4 Oracle
2 Copy Cat
1 Elm's Training Method
1 Magnetic Storm
1 Ancient Tomb
2 Rare Candy
1 Warppoint
1 Switch
1 Reversal
1 Crystal Shard
3 Boost Energy
2 Electic
12 Psychic

I made it to the top 16 and got royally screwed cuz I got a bad draw and those Japanese players sure can get heads with their pokemon reversals. I have no idea and any of the names of the players that I played against, I just know what kinda deck they played.

Round 1: Blaziken Deck
My first match was against a Japanese player. His deck was pretty good but I had to pull some stuff out of my sleeves to win this one. He had 3 prizes and I had 2 prizes left. He had a Raquaza on the bench so I decided to sacrifice my Gard ex so he would be forced to bring his Raquaza up cuz it was the only think that could KO my Gard ex. When he KO'ed it he was happy and thought that he had the game won. I brought up my Gard and psyshadowed and boost and crystal shard for the win. He was so surprised, but it was a good game.
1-0-0

Round 2: Sorry I forgot your name, the dude that took 2nd(Blaziken/Bellosom/Raquaza)
This was an interesting deck. He had a slow start and I had a great start with dunsparce, yes I think almost every deck should play 4. This was an easy game but I liked his deck, it was original.
2-0-0

Round 3: Medicham/Banett
I have no Idea how I lost this game. This was the most random deck I played all weekend. The Banett hurt me alot cuz I'm weak to psychic.
2-1-0

Round 4: Swampert Deck
This game was over in like 3 turns, no problem. I got rid of his skitty on my first turn. Ralts, rare candy Gard, Boost, Psyshadow.
3-1-0

Round 5: Swampert Deck
This was also no sweat. I won in the first 20 minutes of the match.
4-1-0

Round 6: Shiftry
This was the only deck that I didn't not want to play against cuz of the resistance. I can beat the deck no problem but it takes a while for me to do so. We didnt' play though. We decided to take an ID cuz everyone else in top place were going to. So we decided to play for fun and I won no problem. He gave up cuz he said that it made no since on playing anymore after the prize count was me 2 him 6.
4-1-1

Round 7: Collin Moll(Wailord ex/Vileplume/Bellosom)
Hey I know someone's name. No, Collin's cool. His deck ideas are pretty awesome. noone at the tourney would have thought to make his deck. I admire him for his originality. When everyone took an ID in round 6 we were hoping to get an american so that we can take another ID, cuz some of the Japanese players didn't want to. Luckily I was paired up with him, we were so excited. But it put us to the top 32.
4-1-2

Top 32: Jumpluff/and something else
This was a wierd deck for me to play cuz It's grass, of course I dont' like grass decks. And jumpluff's power is very annoying. It took me all three boost energies to KO one Jumpluff. Collin was sitting next to me. While my opponent was getting heads with Jump's power, Collin was next to me getting tails for Vileplume's power. But we both pulled it out and one and made it to day two.

Top 16: Magma
The first game was a great game. It was like one prize to one prize and he oak's researched and guess what he got. A caperupt, which he needed; a reversal, which he needed; a strenght charm, which he needed, an energy, which he needed; and a freaking switch. What do you call that. and of course he gets head with reversal. The second game was horrible. My first hand was a Wobbaffet and a ralts. and no draw til turn four. The game was over when it started. Oh well I got 1000 dollars, I guess it's better than nothing. And hey not everyone made it to top 16.

Overall I had a blast and the tourney was great.

Hehe, this is the lame white guy from Texas who also ran Gardevoir/Magneton/Delcatty, and bombed X_X

Congrats on your placing, Kevin. It's awesome that a new face to the pokey scene just hops in and pwns so well =)

If you can't tell, Kevin, Colin sooo wants you ^_-

and nice deck kevin good job?although i don't know you and wasn't there.haha.

Hey,

Great job on getting to t16! Your deck build was REALLY solid and pretty much the best I have seen for Gardevoir hands down. I'd maybe add more Pokemon Reversals perhaps but can't think of anything else at all beyond that haha. This is your round 2 opponent btw. You completely creamed me. Gardevoir usually does that. I sacrficed my ability to fight off a good Gardevoir list to increase my odds vs other decks and it cost me and you played the match up perfectly and beat me down.

It sucks that you lost that game 1 in the t16 on such a lucky POR though....

Again, great job, and welcome to the boards.

Chris

Like I told you at Worlds that evening -
The Brother Represents!!!!!!!!! And the only one in the top 32 of all 3 age groups.

Nice to see one of you join the boards finally!

See you this weekend.
