Latios and Latios?

I was under the impression that these two legends were an amazing part of a team but since I have captured mine, trained them, and started using them I am under impressed.

Best way I can describe both of these pokemon are "glass cannons", capable of a massive damage output but they seem to not be able to take a hit.

So I guess my question is: Am I still such a newb that I am not using them correctly or this is exactly what they are "Glass Cannons"?

My game is at home but this is what I can remember

Latios:
Timid Nature
Levitate Ability
IV's: 31 hp 7 Atk 25 Def 31 Sp Atk 28 Sp Def 31 Speed
EV's: 252 Spd 252 Sp Atk and 6 Def

Draco Meteor
Ice Beam
Psychic
Protect

I can not remember the stats on the Latias so I won't post it yet...
 
Well just naturally, the Lati twins can take neutral or resisted hits just fine due to typing, which they rely on. Otherwise without any EV investments into HP, Def, or SpD, they will seem weaker than one with those EVs, as will most Pokemon. For example, some people will take some SpA EVs out of a Latios spread to ensure that it can survive say a Garchomp's Dragon Claw, as Draco Meteor has ridiculous power on its own and is overkill on a lot of things with 252 SpA, meaning you can probably free up some EVs somewhere and aim to KO specific targets instead of just pumping in as many SpA EVs. Alternatively, Latios already outspeeds many things, so you could cut Spe EVs to beef up defenses again (though you could run into losing speed wars with other Latios or Pokemon of similar speed, making this a more risky option).

Otherwise, again generally speaking, Latios is more frail than Latias, while Latias is a bit of a weaker attacker compared to Latios.
 
Latias? A glass cannon? Umm... you clearly are playing doubles, sir. :) Latias is one of the most frustratingly bulky dragons there is... in singles.

(Calm Mind/Recover/HP Fire/Dragon Pulse. UGH. SO MANY NIGHTMARES. It's even worse if you replace HP Fire with Refresh... yikes!)

Latios is a glass cannon, sure, but it's an amazing one. Draco Meteor pretty much demolishes everything ever.

If you substitute HP Fire with refresh, Steel types are going to give a baaaaaad time.
OT:
Latios is a glass cannon, sure, but your just playing it like a newb. If you know the Pokemon have a super effective move against you, AND YOU KNOW YOU CANNOT OUTSPEED (Ninjask for example) and you stay in, your going to die 100%
 
Another questions here...

If I were to lose the 252 EV's in SP Attack and move them to SP defense and Defense would it help or hinder?

Just getting tired of getting one shot...

No, definitely don't move the EVs.

I imagine it's a bit different in VGC but in Singles, I love Latios, because I can send it out when the opponent KOs something, and they have to live with the fact that something on their team is about to take a massive amount of damage. That's what it's for. If it gets you one KO, and/or forces your opponent to switch to something they'd rather not use, it's done its job.

What's Latios' item? Dragon Gem Draco Meteor is just stupid powerful. You could also use White Herb or Choice Specs.

I had life orb on it.... Was gonna try focush sash just for kicks but weather ruins that idea, most of the time... Might have to invest in a white herb ! Thank you!
