Hi, everyone it's LB here again.
Anyways time to get down to Business.
Friday, Brennen and his dad, Andrew, Alex, Mike, Dexter, and the rest of AB
leave at 7am to Vancouver from Edmonton. The Bus ride wasn't to bad as we
had Stops along the way. The Bathrooms and the tables we were playtesting on
the bus at though were indeed quite horrible. Anyway at about 930PM we get
to Vancouver after passing through the worst part of Downtown(I was a little uneasy
cause I felt like I was gonna get Capped) we get to the Hotel where the event
is being held. Geoff, Andrew, and I Registered for our Hotel Room and headed
upstairs to ditch our stuff and see if we could get in some last minute playtesting
downstairs in lobby while getting some of the stuff that we need, Geoff had to go
setup for the Event. Anyway we get down to lobby we meet up with Pokemonpat
and pokemonmike and picked up some cool stuff. I got myself a nice little damage
counter bag and the last few cards to what i'm playing (Jirachi ex and Cresselia LvX).
Anyway we go back to the Hotel Room at around 1130 and we choose what were
going to play. I decided to play Plox with Breloom and Cresselia LvX just because
I thought it would be the best choice since after what happened at the US Nats as
I would have the Advantage in the Mirror. Fill Out Decklists and Go To Bed.
Saturday morning of the event get up at 7 and do the usuals things. Anyway
Andrew and I get to the lobby at about 830, a half our before Registration was
open and chill. 9am the registration opens and we Register. I meet up with
Brendan N, Malcolm SB, Bidier J, Sebastian C, and the Rest of the Alberta Peeps,
and get set to play. Around quarter after we get set to play.
Around 65 Players, 6 Rounds, and a Top16.
Round 1
Me vs Geneses P. with EmpoScizor
Well, after Mulliganing twice he gets the God SetUp he wants. I did have a Wager
in hand but I choose to try and SetUp and get something going. Anyway on his
turn he gets 2 Cessation Out, Crystal Beach, a Scizor, and an Empoleon Up and
I lose there. I did get a Gallade Up but after Beach shuts down my Scramble
I pretty much Scoop on Turn 4 or so.
0-1 So after this I'm not feeling to Confident about Making the Cut as I would need
one more loss then I could possibly be out.
Round 2
Me vs Doug D. with Eeveelutions
So I have to play one of the Dads that came on the bus with us. This game was
pretty fun making jokes back and fourth. I manage to set up with a few Gardevoir
and a Gallade as well as Cresselia LvX. Anyway I pull some Fancy Moves setting
up a Gardevoir LvX using Bringdown ftw.
1-0 After this match I felt fairly confident like I could make it. He also told me if
his resistance dragged me down he would buy me Subway for Lunch on the Return
trip.
Round 3
Me vs ?? with EmpoleonPrimeape
Anyway he starts off with like 1 Piplup and 2 Mankey and I was like what. Anyway
he Wagers and I win. My Turn I have Gardy in my hand after using Call setting up
I Rare Candy to Gardevoir, telepass Bebe's and setup a Claydol and a Kirlia that
turn and Psychic lock. He try's to get going and set's up an Empoleon, uses Surfing
together on like T3. I get up a Gallade right after his attack and PsyCut. He has nothing
setup so he has to stall. At around Turn 6 I have 3 Gardy in play, 1 Gallade, 1 Claydol
and Cresselia. I KO him and that Brings me to 4-0 in Prize lead. Next Turn he realizes
he can't do anything and pass's. My Turn I attach to Cresselia use Full Moon Dance
moving a counter to the Active Chatot, retreat Gardevoir and attack with Cresselia FTW.
2-1, I'm feeling so good right now as I can get 1 more loss in the 3 Games left and still
have a Chance in make the Cut. Anyway we go have Lunch at the Hotels Restaurant.
Mmm, Pizza and Hot Dogs. Anyway we return the the Play Area with 10 min left and get
set to play.
Round 4
Me vs Gavin with BanBliss
Ok, so I new that this guy was playing BanBliss before the match. Anyway he starts
off with Chansey, attaching and the passing. My turn I started with Holon's Castform
=\ but I have the Call Energy in Hand. I use Call Energy search for 2 Ralts. Next turn
he evolves to Blissey, attaches from Discard and with the played PlusPower, he knock's
out my Castform. I set up Ralts and I top deck a Scramble. Play Bebe and get Gallade,
attach Scramble Flipping 2 to Knock him out. I get a DRE. At this point he evolves to
Banette and uses Spiteful Pain. 110 on Gallade, he got only a few cards in his Hand and
a Shuppet on the Bench. I attach DRE and KO Banette. His turn he get's nothing. He tops
a Chansey and play's it and pass's with No attaching. I KO his Shuppet. He sends up
Chansey and he needs to Top an Energy, Blissey, or Bebe. He get's neither and is Forced
to play POV to try and Draw a Blissey and an Energy. He Fails and I take Game on the
Next Turn.
3-1!! I've won 3 Straight. This is incredible after a First Round loss.
Round 5
Me vs Dirk with Kabutops.
So the Game Begins. He starts off with Dome Fossil. So right away I know I have to
get up a Gardevoir and a Gallade Quick before he get's a Kabutops up. So Right away I
manage to get a Gardevoir active, a Claydol and a Kirlia on Bench. at around T4 he finally
get a Kabutops up, but a little to late. I have a Gallade up attach a DRE and KO. He get's
another one up and attacks only doing 60 to me. So I get Shroomish and Cresselia
knowingly Kabutops is weak to Crass and since I could use Breloom to KO. A few turns
it happens and I use Cresselia's a Power and a few attacks from Breloom to Knock Out
his Kabutops ftw.
4-1. So at this point i'm sitting in 12th Place. Right then I was thinking, aw **** Now I
have to win one more to even make the cut. I know now I have to face Plox or one of the
Mag Variants being played. I would of Rather took the Mag Variant knowingly I'd be
playing MagKiss. But as Destiny would I have it out for me i'm playing against Plox with
a Good Player behind it.
Round 6
Me vs Alex D. with Plox
He get's a Good Setup with his starting Jirachi and Call Energy. I manage to get a
Gardevoir up T2 attacking with Psylock while he is using Shield Beam. He get's Gardevoir
up and a Gallade also winning a Wager. So I ain't in a Good Position right now. He sends up
his Damaged Gardy and attacks. I KO. He sends up Gallade and KO's ftw. Not Much I could
do.
4-2, so at this point I don't think i'll make it in. So I ain't to happy. Anyways after a few
Minutes, I go talk to the guys and we start talking about how I could possibly make it in
after Alex who was one of the highest 5-1's could drag my resistance up. Standings are
posted. I search for my name....... 17th!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was like OMG.
I'm not to happy as I would of rather taken a really bad loss than placed 17th, how insulting.
Oh well.
