Not sure if this is old or not,

Warner Brothes is making a live action Robotech movie. Tobey Maguire is producing & staring.

Also in Japan they are doing a live action Negima! series.

    Here is a few pics:

And yes Negi is played by a woman, if you were wondering.

    What are your thoughts?

Mahou Sensei Negima series starts next year, right? I'm totally watching it.

Other manga/anime->live action that I've seen:
Hana Yori Dango (two seasons of TV series)
    Lovely Complex (movie)
Death Note (two movies, with a 3rd about L's detective life in America coming next year (?))

If anyone wants to recommend others (or good live action Japanese shows in general), I'd appreciate it.

Hollywood is also making Live Action versions of

Dragon Ball Z (at least it is rumored being made)
    Speed Racer
    Evangellion
    (Maybe more)

Non-anime stuff that was a cartoon being made:

GI JOE (note it's not going to be a Real American Hero, but a global task force).
    Maybe He-Man, & Thundercats soon.

As far as Japanese Live Action stuff, check out the stuff they talk about in the Super Sentai/Kamen Rider threads.

I created one of those threads. ._. And I watch Kamen Rider already as well.

Ok then. I don't really follow the Japanese Live Action shows. I just heard about the Negima one. It sounded interesting, cause I like the Manga & Anime Series (can't wait till Funimation is done dubbing Negima?!).

Well, I have to say, that pic is by far my favorite of the bunch .

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO *gasps for air* OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOES! Anything but DBZ! They can not tamper with that and turn it into live action. It will be suckish.

Well, atleast they can't power up for a full 30 minutes. I'd be totally behind the idea of a Live Action DBZ movie if it was done in Japan. Garo, Sh15uya, Kamen Rider, and Super Sentai (less so then the previous three) have made me a believer in Japanese special effects expertise. Not to mention that they can pull off gravity defying spikey hair styles with style. From what I saw though, Bishojou Senshi Sailor Moon's (Yes, if you didn't know, there is a Live Action Sailor Moon series) special effects weren't anything special though. <_<; I didn't make it through but a few episodes.

Robotech sounds cool, I'll have to get out the DVDs and watch them again. And maybe play the Gamecube game again for the heck of it.

Which did you see? Mahou Sensei Negima or Negima!?? Both feature the same cast but have different storylines. Negima!? has a more Pani Poni Dash flavor (done by the same studio) while Mahou Sensei Negima follows the manga more closely (but still diverges from it quite a bit, or so I hear). Also, do we know if the live action will follow the manga or is it an original story like Negima!??

Wait, Tobey Maguire is in Robotech? Now I'm not so sure...

Yes Negima! the anime series changed the story quite a bit. It happens about the time of the Mahora Festival in the Manga.

I have not seen Negima!? yet (I don't do fansubbs). I will wait till the Funimation DVDs come out.

As far as the live action show, not sure if it follows the Manga or not. From the pics it is really hard to tell. However in the Manga there are no Singing & Dancing stage productions.

Tobey could be an interesting Rick Hunter IMO. If he "gets" it.

Actually that Evengellion film has been in development for a while. Not sure if it is in "Development ****". Which means it will never be made.

An update on the Live Action Negima. Here is a trailer for the show. From the Trailer it looks like it could be based on the Manga. I think those "Stage Productions" might be the opening song/closing song.

BTW the show starts Wednesday in Japan. I am sure a certain video site will have episodes up (probably with subs) about a month from now.

It starts this Wednesday and you don't expect it to show up online for a month? You seriously underestimate the internets. As long as a decent J-drama fansub group gets interested in it, it'll show up within a week with subs +- 6 days depending on the group.

EDIT: By the way, the RAW was released just a few hours ago by TV-Japan.
