Dammit why are so many Pokemon players dying all of a sudden?!?!?

Although you might not think it means much coming from me, but my condolences are with his family and friends :*(

ya i know who he is now, i remember playing some games vs. him. i've also judged some of jeremiah's games...they'd come to pastimes for some tournaments. he was a nice guy, he just liked playing the game and taking his kid to a lot of tournaments. that's pretty sad...i can't imagine what that was like for his kid

i wish that i had known him-he sounds like he was a great player and person.

I am sorry for your loss and my thoughts and prayers are with his Family.

I wish I could say something here.

I've judged quite a few tournaments, Jeremiah's matches included. I just can't seem to place Rich, unfortunately. Please, Camille. Are there any pictures of him around here? Or on your own site?

I'm really sorry about what happened. There is really nothing else that I can say. I'm not articulate enough to put across how I feel about this. Sad, sad thing, and I can only hope that Jeremiah and Tyra can get through this OK.

Never easy to hear of a loss in the Pokemon Family, especially to one who was known and liked for being such a good person, father, everything.

My thoughts and prayers are with his family.

As Camille stated at the beginning of this thread, if you knew Rich, you were fortunate. This is the kind of man who had a rocky life, working very hard to make a better life for his family. He was the type of person who I like to refer to as "the shirt of his back". No matter how things were for him, good or bad, he was always there for you. Whether you needed cards for a last minuite deck, trying to complete a set, or even if you just needed someon to talk to, he was always there. Rich and I borrowed cards back and forth constantly, and never once did I question his trust. I knew they were in good hands.

Like all times when someone you care about so much passes suddenly, I am most sadend that I didnt have one more chance to see him or even to say goodbye. Rich, you will truely be missed by all of us that knew you, and by all who didnt know you, but share the same passions for life, your family, your friends, and of course for Pokemon.

It will be hard to sit at a tournament in Rockford, or anywhere that Rich and his family regularly attended and know he wont be there again. I guess those of us that are left behind by this tradegy will need to lean on each other and keep Rich's memory alive. Any of you who knew Rich and know me, if you need a shoulder to lean on or an ear to listen, please call on me. I am easy to find.

See you again someday my friend. We will all miss you lots.

Oh crap. No. Not him. Anybody but him. If there was EVER a player or parent who signified everything that this game is about, he is that person. He goes to every event that he can possibly make, and always has a good time at the events, whether he wins or loses. His entire focus is on making sure his son and his family have a good time whenever they are at an event. He goes out of his way to trade with people for what they need the most (He traded me my 2nd and 3rd Flygon ex Deltas for two Meganium ex). He also let pretty much anybody borrow from him, even if he occasionally got those cards stolen.

Rich... Wow... I can't believe it. Not to him. Not to that family. I can't think of a worse way for these Cities to get started. Not like this. Not to a guy like him.

My previous post was made without knowing his face. Good lord. Not to him. I don't think that it's possible to be a better person towards this game than Rich was, especially as a player and as a parent. I wish there was something I could do to help. I just hope that I can see his family and speak to them at some point in the near future.

The IL/WI events will be missing something very large this year. Part of this game's heart and soul died this week. I can only hope that there are other people who can help repair and make the game stronger.

I don't believe it...

OMG! I can't tell you how many tournament games I've played against him. Always, always a class guy. I'm so sorry.

I may not have known Rich, but judging by some of the messages I've seen in this thread, he sounds like he was a very important guy.

I'll be praying for his wife and kid.
