Manga Artist here...

(I figured this was the most appropriate place to post this)

Alot of the people on THESE forums probably don't know, but I draw manga... I'm actually quite serious about it, but the thing is I can't ever get the practice I need due to the fact that I can't write worth a crap.. (well, I dismiss everything I write as being too corny to see the light of day)

It seems that I'd be the only one that would be able to create a story that would fit correctly with my art style (which other people consider to be "gothic bishoujo/nen"... I'd post some of my art, but I don't have any recent Pokemon drawings scanned), but I'm desperate. Is there ANYONE out there who has stuff they've written and want to see in manga form? (and if I happen to show it to anyone, which will probably only be on another site for critique, I will be sure to give the writer credit)

Just because I'm desperate dosen't mean I'm crazy, though. I've seen some crappy fanfics. REALLY crappy fanfics... in fact, I almost never read fanfics because everything seems to be the "same old same old Misty and Ash are a couple blah blah blah pokegods blah let's see how many characters we can pair up blah blah blah" junk. So if there's anyone out there who's a little original, please either contact me on via AIM, msn or e-mail me (or send me a pm).. or simply reply to this topic.. I'll be waiting for responses...

Pokémon SS would be interesting to see in manga form, seeing as how it's not any crappy "Ash and Misty are a couple" or "let's see how many pokegods we can cram in" or "let's get everybody paired up" or whatever. It starts off looking unoriginal but once it gets going the whole "let's run this league get these badges blah blah blah" becomes secondary to the actual plot.

Heh, I don't think Chris would like it very much, but I personally would like to see in manga form his Live and Let Live story done in manga form (I say that because he's actually an artist himself and I believe he actually wanted to do that story in manga form at some point in time . oh well he has no say right now:p) Nothing big, though. Maybe a demo page or two so we can see your abilities (at your discretion if you want).

Also if I can figure out where I put it, there was another story he had started doing that he wanted to have done in manga format (he started it and wanted me to write it). But I don't know where it went.

Man I wish I could draw... I've actually had an idea for more than a month now of a Pokemon Special-esque (as in the japanese eseries Pokemon Special) going off of the Pokemon Fire Red/Leaf Green characters (especially the new girl) and also off the concepts in the Story Mode of Pokemon Coliseum. I've got it all here in my head (down to the last detail for each page) but cannot get it on page. In fact when I got the idea is when I added that comment into my signature, because I want to do it but just cannot. *sighs* Someday... maybe once I redo my computer desk (and triple it's surface space) I'll be able to get the practice to be able to improve.

Manga is, essentially, just comics done in Japan. Well, technically it's the officially-produced stuff (fanmade is dojin), but that's just splitting hairs. Basically in this context it's just meant to mean animé-style comics.

I could get into a huge ramble about the style and plot differences, but... I've already said all I need to say on the subject.

Basically, comic (regular) is like superheroes, but manga is like ppl with ... not... human-like... appearances....yeah (that's it...)...uh yea... I draw comics too! Ahem! Manga.

Not Pokemon related, but lotsa violence, swearing, killing...

I can tell you the story if u want!(I won't describe the blood, I'll just tell you who died.)

lol... I'm only 13 and I'm drawing bloody blood and other not child related trash...

Just because you like to draw gore dosn't make you mature.

Marril: already taken you up on your offer

The Anaconda: If it's someone else's story I think i should probably stay away (especially if they're also an artist) Not to mention the fact that style has to be taken into account. My style woulden't fit just any old pokemon story.

(btw, if you had an original story I'd still consider (if you have one send me a pm, since that's kinda off topic), but if it's not orignal, I don't want to do anything but pokemon)

Riiiiiiight. Looks like someone seems to equate violence and gore with maturity. Sorry to say, but you had quite the opposite effect (i.e. you made yourself look that much more childlike). A lot of the best and most mature (not to be confused with adult) stuff doesn't have much "mature" stuff in it at all.

Plot > Shocking Visuals

Yeah! I have plots, lotsa 'em. But, the goreyness comes with the time it is set on. No guns, no technology. Like swords, but it has like demons and energy blasts (I'm a big fan of DBZ).

Trust me, it's not THAT mindless. It's not even Rurouni Kenshin violent (comic)...

So, I'm not saying I'm mature. I just got bored cuz I couldn't find any good comics, so i just created my own. I made 15 books so far with about 25 pages each. Too bad there's no humor...
