Hello everyone,
this is jigsaw also known as absolution on 6p hey trainer and pokebeach
Mexican nationals, are part of North america events, held at the same time as US 9-10 July
NEW modified format HGSS-ON, wich is in my opinion one of the best formats pokemon tcg ever had.
So, here we've got a little influence of canada nationals, and obviously expectancy of what U.S players where playing, with just 8 days after the new format came in, Mexico nationals had some great deck ideas to offer the world, at least to worlds competitors
The tournament structure was 7 rounds, top 32 (at least 130 players in masters)
I decided to ran Reshiboar, IMO it's a great deck choice for this format and can afford magneboar, megajudge and KingMega, the 3 decks i tought would see a lot of play, i honestly deck tested a variety of decks that came to my mind a month earlier, as ZPS Yanmega zekrom, and Feraligatr variants, none of those where as great as Reshiboar, also i tried magneboar and mew variants (muk, crobat, gengar etc..) without getting pleasant results, i ran the most confident deck i had Reshiboar
As my list is not exactly a good one, i think no one would like to see it (cuz cmon reshiboar is for noobs at least that's what people told me here at Mexico)
On to the report, i might not remember all my opponent's names, but i have a medium memory to remember decks and misplays they commited, sorry for those who weren't remembered PM me to edit if able
Round 1, Vs nismo with feraligatr blastoise
One of the coolest guys at my area, he's not that on to pokémon, but goes to league 2 times a month, he started with mantine, i started with stantler, i'm going first so i call for family tepig and reshiram, he goes for a water one and pass, o got to evolve into pignite, and atach double colorless to stantler, mystifing horns to prevent him to get more basics, after some turns, he fully load a feraligatr and a blastoise, send blastoise to OHKO my 1st reshiram, i get the counter attack blue flaring and a plus power to OHKO, he promoted feraligatr but realizes that if he hidro crunch i might be able to outrage for 140, he pass and i blue flare it's feraligatr, he draw in to nothing and hidrocrunch, i outrage ftw

Round 2 Vs a cool zekrom guy
He get's to start and complete the zps combo T1, luckily i got 2 reshirams on my 1st hand, he missplays and attacks 120 T1 without having a 2nd zekrom on his bench, i attach dce and outrage all the way, how will he know that i ran 4 DCE? i don't blame him

Round 3 Vs Bisbal with lanturn floatzel
He lives outside mexico city, but is very friendly with all of us, he's also a skillful player, he starts with 2 buizels and collectors to get chinchou chinchou and buizel... i started with bouffalant, and take a few prize lead by head charging his basics, once he set up a floatzel starts to attach water and then energy switch em to lanturn, it was kinda insane, he used like 2 interviewers questions and attach lots of energies, DCE water and lighting, it was fun to see my army of reshirams fall down to lanturns, however i get a great revenge with 2 plus powers with bouffalant to stay in the game, finishing 2-1 prize lead on my side he ran out of power, and i got the win GG

A little time for lunch etc was given, i went to mcdonalds and have a great time, and that great time almost killed me, i arrived the nationals venue 5 minutes later, so i got a warning for tardiness, it was great that my opponent accepted to play at a relative fast way, props to hime
Round 4 Vs ZPS
Another zps, what a surprise, i started with stantler and 2 tepigs, he went first starts with zekrom and got pachirisu 1 lighting to it, and juniper, (at this moment i fell great knowing he won't OHKO on t1) he proceded to outrage and pass, i juniper mu bad hand, got candy and communication, but no pokemon, so i call for family and bring 2 fully angry bouffalants to my bench, he attaches and KO my stantler, at this point i got the win, as he weren't playing any defender, bouffalant can OHKO every fully powered zekrom he uses to attack, so i revenge KO, and got an emboar from my prizes nice!, he wasn't able to get a 2nd zekrom on time, and i get the win

Round 5 Vs Pablo M. w megajudge
Pablo is a great player, i enjoy every time i face him, because i know i'll learn something (this is what the game is for) i had a god start and emboar t2 and outrage with plus power his cleffa, he promotes a yanmega and pokemon reversal twice to grab emboar, and linear attack my tepig, i used a lot of resources (1 dce and 2 fires) to retreat emboar, energy retrival 2 fires and blue flare yanmega, the game was likely going to my pocket, but then i commited a huge misplay, i didn't realized how many card he had in his hand and used copycat (as megajudge has 6-7 cards average i was confident using copycat) BUT he had 9 (and i had 9 in the deck...) so, i scooped and wish him good luck

Round 6 Vs BADEmboar, reshiram
This guy was new to the game, he told me it was his 1st national, and he want to top cut at least, his deck worked finely but, missed a lot of consistency adding 2 bad boars 1 ability instead of the usual 2ability 1 bad or so, he wasted his rare candies to bring a bad boar fast in to play, i ran smoothly and have a 3 turns set up, while he was able to 150 my first reshiram i got 2 plus powers and junk arm, so i flue flared for 150, he wasn't able to build another boar, so i took the game pretty easy

Round 7 vs Emboar ninetales reshiram
This guy defeated 2 of my teammates on last rounds, so i must be alert (one of my team mates had the same list as i)
i got to start, his lonely reshiram Vs mine, i attach dce play a supporter and catch my tepig, i outrage for 20, he attach fire and pass i rare candy onto emboar inferno fandango 2 F to reshiram and blue flare ftw

Now moving on the top cut i'm at 7th seed, wich is nice since there are just 2 7-0's and 6 6-1's, te rest 5-2´s
i get paired against Charles M. (i didn´t know what he was playing) and moved on to the next tournament day.

Top 32, VS Charles M. Reshiboar shucle engine
At first sight i knew his deck wasn´t normal, he had like 18 energies and a heavy line of 4-4-4 (2-2 emboar badboar), like 3 shuckles, 2 unown (the one's that bring you back energies) and obviously RESHIRAMS
So i moved in to consistency, going 2nd, i call for family to get 2 tepigs, next turn 2 reshirams (he is drawing junk, and attaching lots of energies to shuckle) i'm going aggro and blue flare 1 pignite and 1 reshiram with plus power, he exceels at building 2 boars the same turn 1 ability 1 bad, and 150 my poor reshi, i saw he hasn't that much energies in his hand to deal 150 the next turn, so i just outrage for 20 and pass, he then make my day, by not having the necesary energies in his hand, and just attacks 50, i then junk arm for plus power and blue flare to KO, he realizes he won't go anywhere without the lack of energies and scoops to the 2nd game

He goes first and collector for tepig reshiram and shucle, attach fire and draw (shuckle) and pass, i began very well, having 2 tepig an reshiram active, i sage training and grab a candy and a pokemon communication, then pass, he drew in to nothing and pass, pokemon communication candy emboar, juniper my hand, and got 2 fires and 1 dce paired with 2 energy retrivals wich were enought to onslaugh his day grabbing 6 prizes in less than 5 minutes, i was the first player paired on to top 16, and i went for some beverages, i had like 50 free minutes

TOP 16 Vs Yanmega Donphan Zoroark
He claims himself the winner when he sit down, (this guy was annoying) he told me that he's just great at yu-gi-oh TCG, and did top 16 at YUGI´s nationals, and that his deck was one of the most played at pokemon tcg online, with great results, that's cool for him either way this is REAL LIFE and a PC are no piece for me whenever pokemon tcg is the matter, so i told him to have good luck and we started
I'm going first, i had stantler and tepig on my bench, he had phanpy tyroge and yanma at this point i didn't know that his deck was doing great at USA, but i felt confident with the match up.
He got fast prize cards with donphant, as my set up wasn't fast enought, once i i hit my first emboar, the party beggan i blue flared with 2 plus powers to OHKO donphan, as all of his pokemons were weak due earthquake, his defenders weren't enought to save them from blue flare, once he set up a zoroark and plus power to foul play my reshirams blue flare, i punish with bouffalant revenge to get the KO, he used a lot of judge to annoy, but with 16 supporters that won't hurt me even a little we got 1-2 on my side and i got the win

he knew how to play better this time, he used yanmega to get cheap prizes early in the game, my set up was slow again, so i had to sacrifice a couple of pokemons, once i got a full set up, he did wisely a revenge KO with bouffalant attaching 3 defenders so i couldn't get a prize that turn, so we were like 5-3 on his side, and then he promoted donphan, with donphant he started to earquake like crazy, so all of his babys yanmas and yanmegas were hurt in the process, i got a prize by his own when he KO his tyrogue, so being 4-3 was cool, i outrage a ton to stabilize the game, but 3 donphan are serious business, we were 1-1 when my reshiram was clean, he must earthquake 2 times to KO, but his yanmega had just 10 HP left, so he uses defender to prevent his recoil, i checked my options, i had to pass, because he would KO anything i had and i have no energy left to blue flare twice, so i just checked his discard pile, there was the key, he had played 3 junk arm and 3 defenders and got 1 on his benched yanmega, so it was no way for him to prevent KOing his yanmega and Draw the game (if he had plus power to KO reshiram of course) so i outrage with a great smile since no one had ever take me to that point on the game, he had plus power and claims himself the winner because he tought that the damage dealt to my active is doing priorly to eartquake recoil damage KOing his yanmega, so at his yugi mind he won, but NO pokemon has to do whatever the attack says to do, so i took 70 damage KOing my reshiram, and he dealt 10 KOing his yanmega, so it was a tie (at this moment times up so...)
as far as i knew the player who's won the first game has some sort of advantage because he won the first game on time, the second game count only if the player declared the winner has taken 4 prizes at least, in this case both of we took our 6prizes...
Head judge became sad angry and cool at the same time, he hasn't ever had a situation like this, so he went to his pc to check the correct ruling and make my day again...
(SUDDEN DEATH) he said... WHY!!!!!!!! why do i have to play a sudden death if BOTH players got our 6 prizes and i won the fisrt game?
he told me that this SUDDEN DEATH was just to settle the 2nd game WINNER...
So it's a Sudden death JUST FOR GAME 2....
Ok i'm nuts, WHY?i won the first game, game 2 were a tie, why would i have to play sudden death?,
That's when the PTO told me the saddest thing i ever heard, he said (you guys have to play sudden death 1 prize to get the 2nd game winner, then if he (my opponent) gets to win ANOTHER SUDDEN DEATH MUST BE PLAYED to know who the match winner is...)

I started with bouffalant and 2 dce in my hand Great, i know i'm able to win this pretty easy as i'm going first, then he got a yanma active and tyrogue benched, i knew i can win, i attach and revenge for 20 to yanma, he benched a phanphy and a bouffalant (attach DCE puts a defender on it and revenge my bouffalant for 20) WTH??? i'm gonna lose!!!
i'm not able to ko boufalant, if i continue with bouffalant active he might grab another DCE and head charge ftw, not only that, he might be able to get a donphant on to play attach fighting and eartquake for 120 and the win, so i placed down a reshiram and tepig, promoted reshiram active and outrage for nothing (he's not able to KO reshiram, won't attack with bouffalant cuz of outrage) he draws and evolves on to yanmega, and JUDGE MY HAND ohhh dear, i draw 3 juniper and plus power, after that made a poker face !!!!, he linear attack to my bouffalant leaving it at 40 HP, the game might be his, so i know i have to wait, made my hand the most little as i can and outrage... i draw a junk arm (GREAT!) i use plus power, junk arm and plus power again so my hand size became 1, if he hasn't the copycat or judge i'm going to win.
in the WORST missplay of the day he couldn't fix his hand size to 1, so he promoted tyrogue and attacha defender... WHY????
then mischievous punch my reshiram, he flip and... HEADS
my turn, i juniper, candy emboar and blue flare the little guy
I WON the Sudden death 1 LOL so i won't have to play the 2nd sudden death ROFL
