Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Midwest Regional Championship April 11-13, 2014 - Madison, Wisconsin

Midwest Regional Championship Weekend

This event is open to all players and is run using the Swiss pairing format, so you can play through each round and never be eliminated. Regional Championships are a great place to show off the power of your decks strategy and showcase your play skills! The top players of the Regional Championship are awarded prizes for showcasing the skills needed to do well in such a large event.

When preparing for a Regional Championship Tournament make sure you have a Deck that is ready to play in a competitive sanctioned tournament. To do this first check that your Deck complies with the current Rules. After checking your cards are legal for play, you will then need to fill out a DECKLIST!

If you are using sleeves be sure they are all the same color and size. Damaged sleeves will NOT be allowed for this event. Shiny backs or printed backed sleeves will also not be allowed.

I am a senior and it's saying i'm a master on the registration. my birthday on the account is right, should i just register as a master and get it corrected saturday morning? i don't want to cause any issues so idk what to do

Then your year must be wrong in their records. Have you played in any of Jimmy's events this year? Especially WI or IL state. If so, PM me your player ID.

If not, then the staff can overwrite your registration that morning and fix your birth year. Just let them know a the check-in table that you need to have your registration fixed.

Just a quick "thank you" to Jimmy B. (and team), the PTO who ran the Midwest Regional tournament this past weekend.

This event was another, very successful event I've attended and that was run by Jimmy and his team. There were a variety of elements that contributed to the event's overall success, but I'd like to highlight 2 in particular:

1. A detailed schedule of the rounds were provided to the players and Jimmy/his staff adamantly adhered to that schedule with focused dedication. In doing so, it provided players with a great deal of flexibility in planning and scheduling their own personal activities. Adhering to that published schedule was very beneficial to all, especially Poké parents.

2. Like most premier events, there was an entry fee for Master's Division players. Although this $25 may be considered "steep" for some (e.g., "poor" college student), one could actually recoup his/her investment (the $25 was reimbursed as store credit which one could use immediately at the Poké vending station there at the tournament) by finishing in the top half of Masters competing at the tournament. This is a fantastic idea (based upon several conversations I had with players)! This type of prize support provided to 60+ players (I believe) was received quite well. This support also kept a lot of players interested in continuing to play in the tournament, despite the fact he/she would not make the top cut.

Thanks Jimmy. I look forward to your next event.

That's great to hear you enjoyed it! And actually top 81 players in the Masters got $25 in Store Credit, top finishers even more, up to $200! That was pretty cool! A lot of them were pleasantly surprised to hear that! Way to go Jimmy!

To recap, we had a wonderful turnout for the weekend - For the TCG Championships on Sat, we had 41 Juniors with 6 rounds and Top 8, 77 Seniors with 7 Rounds and Top 8, and 196 Masters with 8 Rounds and Top 8, for a total of 314 players for Day 1. On Sunday for the VG Championships we had 29 Juniors with 5 rounds and Top 8, 68 players for the Senior division with 7 Rounds and Top 8 for a total of 308 VG players. Amazing time!
