My POSSIBLE Battle Roads deck: HYDRO CONTROL!!!

How can you say that, he HASENT came out yet??? Besides, I am ONLY using him as a Tech with Empo DP1!!!

Another water type which could be helpful in this deck is Suicune. Suicune's power could enable you to get back some of your discarded Pokemon and building up your bench could help build up Empoleon's attack. In addition with a lot of people playing Pokemon which can cause status conditions, 1 Empoleon Level X would be helpful because levelling up would immediately cancel those conditions (as well as being able to snipe for 80 which I think is always a good thing). Finally, two other Pokemon to consider in post-DP5 water decks are Phione and I still think Lapras is a good starter in any water deck. (and I do realize something would need to be taken out to use these).

Question for the forum members--which do you think are better, the old Piplup-Prinplup-Empoleon or the DP5 versions?

The OLDER Empoleon is Better! The NEW one is really good as a TECH to the DP1

Backwards, unless everyone around you plays Banette.

30 to two places is more damage spread then 40 to one place. This can get more prizes at once. Heck, 40 doesn't even KO most pokemon anymore, only Shuppets.
70 plus a flip to possibly do 20 more damage to the next pokemon is good against Banette, yes. What about to Gardevoir? Not really, as the extra 20 or even 40 damage won't add up to a KO on Gallade (though it would to Garde non LV.X if you got both heads). Meanwhile Gardevoir can cheerfully three hit KO you, or Gallade easilly two hit KO, and their set up is flying by while yours lags slightly.
The answer would be 100 damage from New Empoleon's second attack. Plus the 30 damage already spread with New Empoleon's first attack, it KOs all 130 HP pokemon (Garchomp non LV.X, Gardevoir, Gallade, Blissey, etc.). The possiblity of damaging your bench isn't a problem with the Vaporeon, though that weakens your offense for a turn.

You're a bit confused on Prinplups. Old Prinplup could place 10 damage on everything, setting up even Gardevoir SW to get KOed by New Empoleon. Old Prinplup can attack with less energy. Overwave's a cool attack, but at that point, wouldn't you rather be looking for an Empoleon? It's an energy too high of a cost to be looked at, frankly. Regardless of how spready that attack might look to be, you might as well be attacking with Glaceon. We'll want DP Prinplup for same HP, but cheeper attacks.

Frankly, Piplup choice isn't too important. I do prefer the 0 energy cost 10 damage though to a 1 energy cost 15 average damage. :/

It's up to you if you want to try Mantine in here. It looks good, with everything important being water type.

I finally don't see as much of a desire to play Lake boundary. What is the extra damage going to effect? Magmortar? Already KOed by Empoleon (MD) and only 10 damage short on Glaceon. While Flame Body can heal Magmortar, it can't stop all of the damage from Empoleon MD's first attack. Blaziken? Already KOed by Empoleon. Magmortar? Same as Magmortar, but easier. Something in place should go there. If you're so concerned about Countering Crystal Beach... Maybe... Battle Frontier? Porygon likely won't be enough of a problem to warrent it, neither will Umbreon, nor Garchomp, nor even Delcatty, but who knows.

I wonder if Premier Ball might be a well welcomed friend in here. You want Glaceon LV.X for sure. Empoleon LV.X's ability to pick off Claydols is cool too, though not vital.

Yes, Banette is startin to get rather popular around me. I am thinking between running 2 Empoleon DP5/ 2 Empoleon DP1 and runnng my already set-up. I will Probalbly stick with DP1 Prinplup. If I do run the 2 of each set Empo, then the lv. X isnt needed. I am still working on this deck, I REALLY want to run it, because Empo is my Favorite Pokemon, An I want to gfet the right set-up with him to be succesful. So I will make a FEW more changes, let me know hat you think!!!

the new empoleon is still better against banette than the old one. what if they have no naked shuppets in play? then youre stuck doing 70 and a flip for 20. i'd rather roll through the banettes doing 100.

I understand, I like the NEW Empo A LOT. I wil probably try to run 2 of each set with this deck, after a few changes. But, I just dont like the damage YOUR bench part, but that is why I got Vaporeon in there for. So, I will try to make the change. Should I leave Espeon in ther OR take it out to make room for the Extra Empo line???

Back to back posts merged. The following information has been added:

Okay, I made a FEW changes to the deck to mak it MORE efficient, I hope!!! Let me know what you think!!!

Is this TOO many pokemon, I was thinking of taking out -1 Eevee and -1 Espeon, to add a few trainers!

The New Empoleon is a dominant card. I think 30/30 for 2 nrg isn't going to be over looked by any deck builder. The trick is to find the right build with it.

Only comment is a red face paint deck is a deck that uses cards that have been overlooked. New and cards decks that quickly emerge from teh set aren't really rouges. Since this set hasn't come out yet, the word red face paint isn't quite right.

I was just stating that this deck included MY ideas, so I noted it being Rogue!!! I have always thought that a deck that based off YOUR ideas made it Rogue!!!

Agree, A red face paint should be your own idea. Don't take my comment as a bad, because your might be developing an ARCH TYPE here. (I haven't studied the new set enough to see what will truely emerge as the dominate decks.)

At early cities, if you play Magmotar or Garny/Gallade, would you call it red face paint? Or would you done nothing more than just jump on the best cards in the set and the format?

I honestly hasn't studied all the new set to know what will become format dominating arch-types.

So if I build or develop a deck that becomes a POSSIBLE Archetype, does that make me LESS of a deck builder?

-2 Mentor, -1 Glacia's, -1 NM(2 is enough), -1 Scramble, -1 Scott, -1 Copycat -1 Vaporeon MD, -1 MD Empoleon, +1 DP Empoleon, +1 Lake Boundary, +4 Phione MD, +3 Call Energy .

SOLID!

I think that the old empoleon is better, cause' it can snipe shuppets and the flippy thing is good; you don't need it, but you can sure use it! The new one is usable depending on your meta-game. If gallade is big, use 2 or 3. If banette or scramble decks are big, use 1.
