Is everybody allowed to play in nationals or is it only people who won certain events or have high ratings?

I'm not sure about those in the International community, but the United States Nationals are open to anybody who wants to play.

The venue that Nats in the US is going to be held at this year is free to enter. It's not a convention like years in the past, so there's no fee to get it. But of course it is going to cost money for lodging and whatnot.
