Nats Sour Grapes

something has to be done so this kid gets a trip, since he got screwed over at niles, IL BR. They put him as being in 15+ and didn't get any points from going x-0,. He has e-mailed some of the big names in the organization to see what can be done about that. Niles/BRs FTL???:nonono:

yes chris pastimes br FTL without a doubt :frown: :frown: :frown: :frown: :frown:

Clearly the system is very screwed up. My brother Jeff got 4th place at nats and gained a total of 4 points to his ranking.

Everyone admits the rating system is screwed up but there is not one player on the boards who would not have done the exact same thing as Ross or any of the others who set out Nats, including you Chuck.

if i had to go back and do it again i STILL wouldnt have sat out buddy.......and i had the chance of dropping with a undefeated record also, but i kept playing, so no your wrong EVERYONE on the boards wouldnt have done the same thing, maybe some people but def not this EVERYONE you speak of....:nonono::nonono::nonono:, or not one or w/e

well to be honest i wouldnt mine going 7-3 and losing a trip cuz even thou that was a deciding factor, it STILL IS PASTIMES FAULT IM NOT GOING TO WORLDS BECAUSE THAT GUY MISTYPED MY AGE AND PUT ME IN THE MASTERS AND WITH ME GOING x-0 there is NO WAY i would lose points, only gain, but w/e if they wont do anything about it hopefully they will in the future so another kid in the same position as i am dont get smacked out of a trip because a "pastimes" guy messed up my age.........

I still cant bieleve that this happened to me, it could have happened to ANYONE else but it had to happen to me :frown: :frown: :frown: :frown: :frown:........this is a very sad day in pokemon for me, but i sure hope this situation gets straightend out :nonono: :nonono: :nonono:

so in all, i have no sour grapes from nationals, but i do have some sour apples from that Pastimes BR,
have a good time a worlds to all the people who are going......

Not trying to hijack the thread, but didnt they post a player roster before pairings? Those list the ages and if there was an error, it gets fixed then and you go into the correct age group. If you dont check that, that is your error. If no roster was put up, that is the event staff's fault. Did you not notice the 1st set of rankings after rd 1 and see your name in Masters??? They could correct that too, I beleive.

Well if you checked how many people were at that Battle Road you would have noticed there wasnt a lot of people, so the guy decided why not put them all on one sheet to make it easier for myself, and all the names were in order by last name if i remember correctly so i saw my name on it. and no they didnt do rankings after every round btw, and not its NOT always the players fault when something bad happens at a tourney:nonono: :nonono: :nonono:

you guys are as much as human as we are and i understand that but when something this big happens and keeps a player from going to worlds then something has to happen, and i see where your coming from btw

Loss in T4 and Loss in 3-4 Match means loss of points. I dropped 44 points for the same reason. Top 4 all got trips, so it really didn't matter.

You're right, Eric Craig (was point ahead of Ross) isn't on the Pokegym.

I guess I havent monkeyed around w/ TOM enough to make it print just one page for rankings. I have been taught by others to always print out all 3 age groups and post them....leaving each rd up thru-out the entire tourney. Too bad that policy wasnt followed in Pastimes. Yes, we are all human and errors are made. I wish they could do something to compensate you for that, but it looks unlikely. Sorry to hear that. I wasnt trying to sound "uppity", just wanted to know the procedure used.

yea i dont know if they will do anything for this situation but i still brought to all of there attention that would he did was wrong and made me lose a trip to worlds, and if they dont do anything about this, this whole situation will "kill my spirit for pokemon" :frown: :frown:  :nonono:  :frown: :frown:

and do u knoe mike's email by any chance and if so im it to me cuz he's the only person i havent emailed about it yet.....plz and thank you....:pokeball:

Moss: Those inflatibles are going to be used at how many events this year?
GenCon... Comic Con.. Worlds.
And next year?
Prorate the cost over that usage and see if that makes any difference in your caclulations.

We already HAVE inflatibles... How many do we NEED? Every year we get new inflatibles. What's wrong with the older ones?

I think people would be much happier with posters and pokeballs and such. What good does a floating turtwig do? You Kant ride it or anything.

I agree with Moss. The utility of items like boxes, pokeballs, trips, ANYTHING that you can do more with than look at- seems like a better investment.

Yeah and not only was the roster just in Alphabetical order with all divisions in one but the pairings were as well!

Even though at the Niles BR there was 25 people there was about 6 or 7 Seniors and I only played half of my 4 matches against Seniors. But I think that is more of a problem with TOM than Pastimes.

POP/PUI needs to take action between now and the fall BR's so peoples stats aren't screwed up.

James- That is just some terrible circumstances for you and I hope they do try to do something for you and get Pastimes sorted out.

About the inflatables,

I arrived on Friday and did not see anyone Pokemon I knew in that long hall way so I peeked in every exhibit hall door and then I found F and I saw a Giant Pikachu! The Giant Pikachu makes the area stick out and exposes the game to other neighboring CCG's and people cutting from the Exhibit hall to the CCG hall.

Do you all not read or understand english?? The inflatables are purchased and owned by a different division of Nintendo, NOT PUI! Therefore, whether the blow ups are there or not, the budget for PUI doesnt change! Ergo, losing the inflatables will NOT put more money into the PUI budget.

And that post underscores the reason why Nationals will remain at Origins for the foreseeable future.
I must say the pokemon event at origins was great.
Origins got a 1/10 rating in my book and the only reason it got a 1 was from pokemon.
The envirement stunk. Literially stunk like BO and the smelly stink of people outside of pokemon.
IMO if your here for pokemon why must we suffer walking all the way down origins to the last hall to play pokemon and witness people dressed up in costumes, weird looking people that will give you nightmares, and have to smell scrubs who cant take 2 minutes out of their day to take a shower.
Im sorry thats just unexceptable. I came to the national championship to play not do all this other stuff. At worlds in CA last year was awsome all pokemon envirement. Thats what we need. Pokemon should just pull out of origins and get a hotel like the one at the hilton at CA and hold an event similiar to that. Im here for pokemon not any other bootleg games. This was my first nationals as well. I thought it would be good and it was horrible. I really hope pokemon pulls out of origins. If they keep it their next year im so bringing nose clothes clippers.

Um why were you close enough to those people so you could smell them?

The Hall wasn't very busy at all I thought during the weekend and in the hall you could walk straight through it without being asked to smell someone.

I don't know what your problem with Ryan is, but I'm personally tired of you insulting a friend of mine over and over again. If you're going to constantly call him out, why don't you just bring it to a PM instead of this.

Everyone admits the rating system is screwed up but there is not one player on the boards who would not have done the exact same thing as Ross or any of the others who set out Nats, including you Chuck.

There is no possible rating I could have that would make me sit out Nats. There is no possible rating Jason, Jimmy, Moss, Fulop, Eric Craig, Pooka, Pablo, [insert any other legitimate player] could have that would make them sit out nats. Any player whos been around the game for a while can tell you that Nationals is infinitely superior to Worlds in terms of players, and fun factor. People just see the words "Hawaii" and freak out about the trip because they have some misconception that Hawaii is some magical land where dreams come true, and not just some Island where people go to get eaten by Sharpedos.

It is actually ridiculously stupid to sit out Nats for any reason, ESPECIALLY for the trip. The prizes for Nats are basically the same as the prizes to worlds. Are you telling me you're gunna pass up a chance at $5000 and the title of National Champion for a trip to Hawaii? Assuming you can stay with a friend (which is highly likely), you only have to pay for a flight to worlds, which is at max $500. Doesnt take the best Poker player in the world to figure out that 10:1 pot odds is a good deal!

In my opinion, everyone who sat out Nats is a coward, coward, COWARD, and is basically admitting their metagame is horrible. Ross and Kettler wont even HESITATE to play 30 battle road games but not a single Nationals game? (actually, ONE nats game, and it was a loss) That's basically saying "I know my metagame is bad. I refuse to play against people who actually know what they're doing. Why would I play against good players when I can just beat on the bad ones". Let's say Ross's rating before his last battle road was 2030. Are you telling me this kid will play a tourney with 2030, but NOT with 2050? He has to be SO sure that his opponents are gunna be GOD awful at that battle road in order to justify that. He knows that if he takes ONE loss, then he will lose points on the day, thus in order for him to correctly play the tournament, he has to be CERTAIN that hes not taking a loss. When you're CERTAIN you're not taking a loss in a game of luck, you just know your battle road is full of horrible players. Same goes to Kettler. Kettler dropped after round 1 of Nats after a loss "just incase I get unlucky". Where was that reasoning for battle roads pal? Can you not get unlucky at battle roads? It just makes me so sick that people try to intentionally dodge the good players.

The whole rating system situation is just so disgusting right now. I could go on for hours talking about every little flaw in it, but I wont. All I'll say is I will not be playing Pokemon next season if a legitimate system doesnt show up. People are actually losing friends over this garbage. DMTM is spinning in his GRAVE. Spirit of the Game is officially in the same place as Chivalry: dead.
