Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

NC Gym Challenge - High Point, NC - 5/27/06 (Final Results)

No, queenD isnt the 90/10 I was referring to, queenD is 70/30-80/20 vs LBS.

A 7 person cities is hardly a premiere event. Top 2 cut? I wouldn't count a tiny cities as a premiere event, which is what I was referring to.

And as Agustin said "he outplayed me". So those games can largely be attributed to deviated skill. So, if we're talking equal skill- the results of Kettler/Agustin cannot be used.

I'm sure you guys will see the LBScrusher soon enough. And of course, no offense taken John.

Well I didn't say equal, but rather just two good players. I think that I'm good and I think that Agustin's good!

Also, anything "can" win against "anything." Our good pal Seena did lose to a 10- player's Mom last week!

Nope, no trip for me yet! My first Gym Challenge is next week.

Mine too

Good luck w/ your gyms Kettles.

No Ryan , i wouldn't call your cities a "premier " event either. Just busting your ***** :)

I had a lot of fun. It was a shame I only got to see Erik for a few moments. Was that your girlfriend Erik? :p

A lot of ideas out there, but LBS rules them all. I'm more clear of that than anything. Something needs to happen at worlds or **shakes head**.

Yeah, I wish I could have a stayed a little bit longer. I had to step out for a while and when I went back inside to talk to everyone, you guys were starting on another round. :frown: And yes, that was my girlfriend, who is practicing with her band as I type (*insert loud, hard rock music in the background*).

Matt, I agree with you about LBS. As good as the deck is right now, I really, truly despise it. I know there are alot of good players out there right now who favor the deck, but it honestly seems like the deck that should have never happened. 100 damage to anything in play, 200 damage to the active with very little effort, the ability to limitlessly "rain" down energy, and a deck structure that has allowed for almost any tech one can possibly think of (I've seen it run with Blissey ex, Shining Latias, Kingdra, Ditto Mr. Mime, Mew ex, Giant Stump, etc. etc. etc.). It's just all too powerful and, for lack of a better word, "broken." If set up correctly, almost nothing can take LBS out.

I know that my complaints are not the exception. For the competitive players out there who don't like to run Pidgeot or who want to run "rogue" decks, LBS is a game-ruiner. However, if the deck that wins Worlds this year comes out of nowhere, it has to be one amazing deck. And I for one look forward to seeing it, or even building it.

Well, Erik, there are two ways to look at it.
First, I agree with you. LBS has come so far even from its bullying beginnings to take the lead as favorite to win World's. I don't like the deck because it's not my style [I do, however, like Blastoise/Quaggsy/Articuno! :) ], but like it or not, it wins. But I don't intend to get on the LBS nor the anti-LBS bandwagon. I favor other decks, and so that's what I'll play.
Second, LBS sorta plays into the hands of those who thought the metagame was "getting too big." The bigger, "better" LBS cuts down a lot of the parity that we saw earlier in the season. This will probably make some people happy.

Kevin, sorry you didn't win in High Point. I thought you had a great chance. Also, sorry we didn't get to play. I guess it wasn't in the cards. (oh no he didn't!) Hopefully, we'll have that chance in TN or SC, even for fun. If you see me, ask me to play, ok?

LBS IS the deck that shouldn't have happened. Erik said everything really.

What I do wonder, is with this comment from mr. john s.:

Do i see it winning Nats. or worlds? Probally not . But it could, yes?

I have no idea what it couldn't win Nationals or Worlds. I think theres a good chance of both happening. I don't see a big weakness to LBS, but I guess if everyone techs for it, it won't win. But still, how do you tech for it without playing a deck that just techs for it? Because we all know a deck that just techs for 1 deck isn't going to every face that deck because it won't get to the same level as the deck it techs for.

Eh...

I'll let the florida people decide weither or not LBS wins worlds. I'm sure they have the power to do it.

Matt, There is NO way to predict what will win worlds. Match-ups, opening hands- so many variables will determine who/what wins worlds or nats. You should know this.

Right now it seems to be top dog, but players who despise the deck ( like yours truely) will "tech" as you
said against it. Can these so called tech decks still beat the rest of the field? Playtest for HOURS like some of us do and get back to me.

I think nats. will give us some real answers as to what to watch out for at worlds.

Right now, i'd settle for a trip :)

82? DANG!

:p

I know what I'll be doing this september...dancing on pidgeot's grave.

Wow...just read all the LBS/Pidgeot posts (did not get in from MD GC until 4:30am this morning). Bottom line is whether you like it or not LBS is a deck we all have to deal with. But as John pointed out there are no decks that are auto wins or losses. As he pointed out it comes down to matchups, luck, and player skill. Especially the larger the event the more this is true. LBS just happens to be a good deck that has the ability to have a bad matchup but still have the potential to win (which is one of the reasons why I like the deck...regardless of whether that makes me a bad person or not...LOL). The same thing happened last year with another notorious deck...Blaziken. Same comments and did it win Worlds???

As far as Pidgeot goes there will be another card that will come along in the next modified format that some players will despise and can’t wait for it to rotate out…
