Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Niles IL Pastimes State Championships 4/17/04 who is coming???

Yes, this MUST be sanctioned, a couple of us actually have an outside shot at getting into the top 16 and be invited to Worlds.

Just to add onto what Dld4a said, "Team Chicago" is anyone in the Chicago-Area that plays Pokémon and actually comes to Chicago-Area tournaments... The Top rated player in IL supposedly lives in the area, but only goes to Indiana and Michigan for tournaments...

Actually, Team Chicago is only 2 people - Jason K. and Alex B. You have to know the history of the game to know that though.

Also, any premier event that is run is AUTOMATICALLY sanctioned by POP.

Hey,

I'm in team Chi-town as well. I am a former resident of chi-town till I moved to Wi a while back. I do not consider my self a cheese head what so ever( I hate all the wisconsin pro teams, they suck). CUBS rule, Bears.....ok, Bulls.....who knows....meh.

Anyways I will be there, hoping it will be my chanced to be noticed.

See ya

So then I take it I'm part of Team Chicago as well? (I highly doubt it, but I'm just gonna ask anyways)

Like I said in the other Illinois States post, I wont be able to make it. I'm gonna be in Atlanta (1st time) for the FIRST Robotics Nationals.

GO TEAM #111

Team Chicago??? Sounds Interesting....

Want to make a run at Team St. Louis? We will have to find a time and place (maybe Origins)

Pick your top 6 players, have to be from your area and still active players (sees you dusting Ness and Alex off), and 1 has to be 14 or under, and one has to be 10 or under, and we will pit you against our 6 players, 3 total rounds, one game each, most wins by the team wins....

To make it interesting we will bring 3 boxes from Dragon On, you bring 3 boxes from Dragon on, winning team walks away with all 6....

Springfield, IL is in the middle of us, and I will find the place, if you are up to the challenge....

Jumping off Topic, but would like the challenge....

To get back on topic, BEST OF LUCK TO ALL OF YOU AT STATES!!!

Hope to see you down at one of my events one day, lord knows I have come up to yours....

Meganium45 - unofficial coach and keymaster of "Team St. Louis" aka TEAM REAM (I will get in trouble for that allusion, I am sure, sorry Ditto, sorry Psyduck, sorry MMurkrow)

Sounds very interesting ill talk to the rest of the team about it and see if thy're in
The only prob. is that we don't have any 11-14 and we lost our only 10- player but im sure we can work something out.

Hey AXE, my brother is twelve, he is still pretty good...Anyways I will be at the state championship playing. Everyone look for a pre-states tournament at pastimes I am trying to organize. My idea right now is for the winner to get their entry into states paid and/or boosters. You guys up for that idea?

Changes

"If Lizard goes, I'll be there. I wanna, but it depends... Pastimes ALWAYS charges more than most other places... thats a pain. I know its only $10, but I won't be going to Nationals anyways, so that 2 round bye and VIP package don't make a difference to me..."
I have heard everyone voice their opinion about the high entry fee's at pastimes, and forwarded your opinions to the store owner.

"Heh. Does that make us Team Wisconsin? I think Team Chcago includes Dave II and Dave III, Cori, Brad, Will, and ugh.... I don't know everyone else. Those are just the familiar faces that we all gotta know and love. lol

jp w/ya!"

Hey, why does everyone forget about me? I have probably played this game in more places of the country than most of you combined...Doesn't that count for anything, lol ;) Anyways ill ttyal. Right now the homework calls me...

Well, we definitely have enough 15+, for 11-14 I guess we might be able to get Mo..., but for 10 & under, I dunno what we could do... :x

I'd definitely be interested in a "Pre-State" Tournament, either of the prizes you have lined up sounds good.

Convention coming up this weekend possibly... 'still hoping to get somethign scheduled for that.

Also...anyone got any idea on how to display Pokemon in Pastimes. If we can get somethign good we could probably win one of those retailer kits of promos and other junk to give out to you guys. (Hey its worth a shot...)

Well Ice'Cold it might be because you NEVER play in the tourny's. Or very rarly.
We do have those two asian kids i think they're ok but im not sure ;)

Hey vince, I'm wondering why the conditions of the age restrictions. I mean if we are going to try to find the best of the best lets do it.
Dave II

Because - the strength of an area is determined by the strength of all of its players. Competitions are always set up as age modified swiss, or age separated, so let's crack out your best younger players along with your big 4!

Also, I did not want this to turn into an old farts competition, and quite honestly, if I take one of my sons, I can actually get to do something like this.

I really don't care if you don't like the age restrictions - I think it supports the strongest area theory quite nicely. It also would show younger players that they have a place in the "high competition" aspects of the game. Lord knows I have had 10 and under players at my $200 cash tourney, one of which even won second!

We will see who is up to the challenge. It is easy for me to say, I have come up to Chicago, and battled your best, and walked away second overall to a now Texas player. My son walked away 1st overall in his age division.

Not since the glorious days of Pokedok have Chicago players dared stray this far south to play in our bigger events....

I look forward to making this happen.

I'm here!

Hey, Guys

Hey Vince, I may be playing as part of team Texas now, but my heart will always be with team Chicago.

You know, I keep hearing people say that "the strength of an area is determined by the strength of all of its players." That is totally false! I have played for nearly 3 years in the chicagoland area. I have seen so many good players leave the game. But the strength of TEAM CHICAGO is dedication. These guys team up week in and week out to drive hundreds of miles to the closest place to play. Not to say that they killed at someone elses tourney, but for the love of the game. There is no one in the immediate area, (like some places) willing to hold these events anymore. This is NOT the players fault.

I say, Sure they may not be the most Skilled players, but they are the MOST dedicated bunch I have seen. Something I did not see from Alex OR Jason! Once the prizes stopped coming, SO DID THEY!

Good luck to all,
jimmy
