Even though E3 was short, that doesn't mean that big news was announced. It seems that 3 other Nintendo icons are making big splashes in the gaming comunity later in the future. If you guessed Mario, Samus, and Link, then you are absolutely right. Lets take a look at Mario's games:

    Mario Kart: Double Dash
    Mario Party 5
    Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour (GCN/GBA)
    Mario and Luigi
Super Mario Advanced 4: Super Mario Bros. 3

-Mario and friends have taken their go-karting to the extreme in the newest installment, Mario Kart: Double Dash. Just when you thought Mario Kart 64 couldn't be matched to any other racing game, Nintendo released Mario Kart for the GBA in 2001 using THE SAME GRAPHICS ENGINE that Mario Kart 64 had. Now, it's 2003, and Nintendo has just made the announcement of Mario Kart: Double Dash. with MK: DD, you will be able to have two characters on a go-kart AT THE SAME TIME. One guy drives, and the other makes the weapons fly. With the new features, you will be able to play up to 4 friends, with 16 characters on the screen ALL AT ONCE.
-Even though there isnt much to say about it, Mario Party 5 is coming to town. Although the gameplay is the same as the other 4, is doesnt mean you can still have fun. With new gameboards and new AND old mini-games, you will want to drag your friends to your house when you get your copy of Mario Party 5.
-Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour will be the first Mario game on the Gamecube to have GCN/GBA connectivity. Like Mario Party 5, even though there isnt much to talk about, the new Mario Golf will obviously have more courses, more characters, and even more fun with the GCN/GBA connections.
-As of now, Mario and Luigi is the third Mario RPG to be ever released (Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars for SNES and Paper Mario for N64). As its name suggests, you will play as both Mario AND Luigi as they both try to stop Bowser and save Princess Peach. However, a greater evil is trying to take over the land, so you team up with Bowser AGAIN (first time was in Super Mario RPG:LotSS) to stop this greater evil.
-The last Mario game that is coming out in 03/04 is Super Mario Advanced 4: Super Mario Bros. 3. If you have been watching Mario closely ever since the early 80's (like me, even though i was born in 86), you would know that this is the second time that Mario Bros. 3 was re-released (for those of you who dont know, the first time was in an SNES game called Super Mario All-Stars). After seeing the gameplay (for the THIRD TIME), I noticed something different. There are going to be a lot more power-ups in this version, One of which is the Super Cape from Super Mario World.

The second Nintendo icon making a return is our beloved Link. 16 years and still going strong, Link is coming back in 3 new titles:

The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords (GCN/GBA)
The Legend of Zelda: Tetra's Trackers (GCN/GBA)
    Soul Calibur 2

-If you bought The Legend of Zelda for GBA, you would remember a second game that came with A Link to the Past. That second game was the GBA version of Four Swords (may I add that I beat both games and beat the secret dungeon? nevermind...). Well, it isnt what your thinking. "What? I just beat the GBA version, now I have to play the same thing all over again on the GCN?" Rest assured, the answer is NO. The GCN version is about 3 times as big as the GBA version. With the GCN version, you HAVE to use your GBA as a controller. The reason is when your aren't with the rest of the party, you can find out where you are going on the GBA screen. Another strange thing is that the new version uses the graphics engine of A Link to the Past. Other than that, it's the same gameplay as the GBA version.
-So ya beat Wind Waker (very good game, might I add?), and ya wanna know what happened to Link, Tetra, and the Pirates. Well, it isnt what ya think. Tetra starts to screw around with Link's head and makes him find each of her pirates and get a dumb stamp from them, which shows that you have found them. What's even worse is that you have to find them in a certain order. So Link decides to pull out the Four Sword AGAIN, allowing him to have 3 other Links to help him find stuff. (I'll give ya a hint. Whenever I mention Four Sword in the story, it means it's gonna be multi-player). This, my friends, is called The Legend of Zelda: Tetra's Trackers. You look at your GBA screen all day long, while Tetra shows the current score, the map, AND will even make fun of ya on the TV screen. Now that hurts.
-The last Link game of the 03/04 gaming extravaganza isn't even made by Nintendo (NO!!! SAY IT AIN'T SO!!!). Instead, this Link-ed game is made by Namco and the title goes by Soul Calibur 2. We already know all the good details about each version and all, but did you know that Link actually leaves Hyrule in this game to find the Soul Edge? That's right. The Soul Edge is the power behind an evil Hyrulian magician, so Link must find the Soul Edge and destroy it. Out of all the Link games, this has to be the most compelling one. With over 130 moves to learn, the ability to use most of Link's secondary weapons, AND being able to use the other swords that Link has in Weapon Master mode, this will be the most fun you will ever have with a Zelda contract

-And last, but not least, Samus Aran is returning to the GBA with a little case of deja-vu. Rumor has it that Metroid: Zero Mission is going to be a remake of the original Metroid game. Hopefully, Nintendo does a good job on it.

well, that's all the news I have on Nintendo's future releases. Got any comments/questions? Just reply here.

P.S. oh yeah. Sorry if the post is a little TOO big. But hey, we've seen bigger posts back in the original Pokegym.

Are you serious about this? I wanna know where you got this information. That's absolutely AWESOME! A used game store here in Salt Lake has the import copy of Soul Caliber 2, and The Fish King and I play it whenever we are there (then consequently get asked by the manager if we've reserved it yet. And I did, when I bought my GameCube from there on Monday). I can't wait until this comes out.

(And it's being released the same day we're holding the Challenge Tournament here in Salt Lake, AND they're in the same mall!)

Anaconda, the answer is yes. I get 90% of all my information from Nintendo Power magazine (the other 10% is G4 TV), so I would know a lot about what is going on at both Nintendo of America AND Nintendo of Japan (May I also say that Nintendo Power magazine is about as close as you can get to official Nintendo news, which is VERY close). Namco first started the series with something like "Soul Blade" or "Soul Edge." Then, they created Soul Calibur for the arcade and Dreamcast. Now, they are releasing Soul Calibur 2 for all the systems, but with a special twist. Each system gets 2 new characters that were not playable in the arcade. All 3 systems will recieve a new guy named Necrid, who was created by Todd McFarlane (creator of Spawn). What's different about each systemis that they will recieve a special character that other systems wont be able to play as. Here is the listing:

Nintendo Gamecube- Link (main weapon- Master Sword)
    Xbox- Spawn (main weapon- Axe)
Playstation 2- (The old guy from Tekken  )(main weapon- his fists)
ALL SYSTEMS- Necrid (main Weapon- "Enigma")(looks like 2 huge sticks)

One more thing. In Weapon Master mode, when you play as Link, get ready for a big surprise in what weapons you can give him. Some you will remember, and some you will just go  , but dont worry. They are all tied to the Zelda series somehow...

Yeah, I knew all that stuff(remember, I've played the full version GameCube game). I just didn't know that there was an actual reason that Link was in the game.

I enjoy playing as Link with the magic staff. Seeing him whack people with a stick is just hillarious.

I enjoyed Mario RPG but haven't got around to paper MArio yet. So Mario and Luigi sounds kinda cool. One question, did square do Mario and Luigi like they did Mario RPG.

I don't think so. I think Mario & Luigi is either by Nintendo or Intelligent Systems. Not sure.

Mario and Luigi is made only by Nintendo. As for Square Enix (Square Soft's new name), they are releasing Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicals for GCN and Final Fantasy Tactics Advance for GBA. That's all I know of with Square's plans with Nintendo.

Arthas - Actually, Square also has Sword of Mana coming out for GBA (remake of Final Fantasy Adventure for Game Boy, but it was originally the first Mana game).
And Nintendo will be the publisher for all three Square titles in North America.
