Anyone with a lot of money could buy some Trophy cards just for the fun of it. They still might not know anything about it. Owning a card doesn't make you superior to anyone else.

I love Chanseys. I know a lot about them. Do I have a PSA 10 1st Edition Chansey Base? NO! I don't have $500. You don't need to have a lot of money to love Pokemon and have knowledge in the subject.

Owning the card is not the real question.

How rare? - Never seen one for sale, only know where 1 lives but there was more than one copy issued

The sad thing is that there are many more unknown Trophy cards that never get discussed, for example:

Hey Avmozz okay I know those cards they are the snap prize cards, I have never seen them sold the only person who I can think of that might know anything more is steven/Smason108 on ebay. He might have more information since he has handled probably the most trophy/prize cards, at least that I know of.

Well I recongise the symbol, its the same as the Pokemon Snap promo which was released in Japanese with Volume 1 of Trainer Mag (reprinted in English as WotC promo number 26)

Its not the same card, or an alternate artwork though, ive compared the text.

I would have my suspitions that its a fake card, made for a prank or something. But that's only because I have no idea about any other information about it lol.
 
It is not a prank card it is one of the 10 snap prize cards. There are others that have that symbol they have the same attack as base set cards, but just a different picture. There is one with Gyarados, Chansey, Koffing, and others, and they are not fake.
 
I am not sure I have a few pictures from a collectors book but all the text is in japanese. I think they come in a pack though but I think smason108 is the only guy that has possibly sold them I can ask them and let you know.
 
It would be nice that those who have bought the trophy cards to provide scans of such glorious cards and to submit them on this thread, with permission of course from the seller :)
 
i'm afraid submitting scans to this thread wouldn't work, as code is turned off in the forums.

the scans COULD however be submitted to the pokegym gallery; the link to the gallery is the smeargle in the banner at top right of every page.

Firstly, Smason = over rated and sells mini statues of birds more nowadays lol

Secondly, the card (s) you refer too and I linked were indeed from the Pikachu snap contest, they are prize / trophy cards given only to the winners of the contest.

Rather than picking only 1 winner they had 10 winners, each winner received a set of all ten cards, they were not given out in any packs, boosters, promo, trainer mag, pojo issue etc etc etc.

Making them very rare indeed :eek:

Rest assured they are not fakes so please dont just go "oh it's a fake" just because you have not seen it or it has not been documented on an english language forum or website does not mean they are not real.

Each winner received a set of all 10 cards! I didn't know that, thank you for that information Mozz. Yes please post all the others I really like the Magikarp one.

Pretty cool, you should load those up in the trophy card section. I'll ask what's probably on everyone's mind about those cards, do you own any?
 
yes i knew they were trophy cards, I am not sure how much they could go for, not as much as the trophies from 97-99 but a fair amount.

haha mozz you think smason is overated, he use to be solid back in 2000-2003 around that time but yeah he sells sculptures now, but I asked him and I will see he if sold any.
 
hahaha oh that is funny yeah it seems the top collectors are in the UK. Also behind most of them there is a connection to japan which I have envied since day one.
