I pick up my buddy evan around 10 and drive to northfield for our first BRs of the season. I chose Rayquaza eelektrik(borrowing cards from evan) and evan played garbodor terrakion mewtwo registeel. 27 masters 5 rounds no top cut. Having gotten 6 CP last year i was hoping to go into my first truly competitive season with a good start.
Round 1 vs Luke Deuser Rayquaza EX/Eelektrik/ Mewtwo
i win the flip and reveal a rayquaza to his 2 tynamos and feel pretty confident. I draw attach a lighting and attack taking a quick prize. I stayed ahead of him all game and wob 6-4.

Round 2 vs Dan? ( darkrai/hydreigon)
pretty uneventful 6-0 sweep by me. One turn he played a darkrai, my next turn i ultra ball for a rayquaza ex. Attach a fire,dynamotor to it, drop 2 energy, juniper and switch for the 1 shot on the new darkrai.

Lunchtime vs hunger
clean sweep for my tummy with a spicy chicken sandwich and fries.
Round 3 vs Danny Bryan (darkrai hydreigon)
He had a slow setup i had a fast setup it got close at the end because i was careless but i managed to get the catcher KO for the win

Round 4 vs Luke Morsa (garchomp altaria)
i had loaned luke a gabite for the tournament so i was very happy to know round 4 was going to be a fairly easy win as my deck has a field day with garchomp. Then my deck decided to not work for the first half of the game. Idid take 2 dragon pulse prizes which is the main reason i was in the game at all. It came down to 1 last prize each he has 2 garchomp and i have a zekrom with eviolite and 20 damage. I do some math and realize that his draginblade does 100(altaria and eviolite offset) which would leave zekrom at 10 and my thought is i bolt strike now and im good. Just before i declare the attack i remember that i do 20 to myself which means dragonblade kos zekrom so i outrage for 40. His entire turn im waiting for him to retreat to the fresh garchomp and id just scoop. I dont scoop and he doesnt retreat he attacks with mach cut ajd i bolt strike for the win as he realizes his mistake.
4-0 the only other x-0 going into the round got donked so im the lone unbeaten left and im thrilled.
Round 5 vs Dylan Bryan (gothigor)
WHY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!?!! Dylan Bryan pairing why?
I wasnt confident in this matchup at all and when he had 3 gothitelle on turn 4 i should have scooped there. Much like every gothigor game it was boring. I saved my ns hoping to be aboe to break the lock and dylan may as well have just laughed at me. N to 4 draw 2 candy and 2 githitelle. N to 2 mew ex and DCE. Despite the lose i can honestly say i wouldnt play the game any different then i did i knew what i needed to do and i did it i just cant influence my opponents draws.
4-1 i finished 2nd behind tristan macek and above drew guritzky and dylan bryan who also made top 4. The 4-1 bubble in 5th was my buddy brett with Skittles, taste the painbow deck. So 1 battle road into the season and ive already doubled last season CP points total.
