Paralyze Markers Question

How are the paralyze markers supposed to work with the figures? It looks like you're supposed to put them around something, but I can't for the life of me figure out where they go.

You just hang them on something on the figure, whatever is handy.

Hmm, that doesn't seem very well thought out to me. It looks like the arrow is supposed to point to the disabled attack. I played with my daughter last night, and tried hanging it off one of the wings on the Charizard figure, but when I spun him for an attack, the thing flew off, and I didn't notice for a few minutes
