My friend currently has 9 points he has league 1-7 and three brs listed though does this mean he can or can't go?

You don't get the league 7 point until after the season has been reported. Which isn't expected to be possible until after USA nationals has finished.

If your friend is a prof then he may get some points that way.

season 7 is not reported yet. You are confusing when attendance becomes visible in your play account with when attendance is reported to POP.

The Play! Point for season 7 is only added to your account after the League Owner completes the season 7 report, and that is not currently possible for season 7.

I'm in the same league as OP and player mentioned in OP, and the LO has in fact reported the season, marking us as attended. Don't know if you mean something internal though...

I'm not aware of any leagues having reported for Freeze. If it was possible I know at least one that has a player who'd like the extra 10th PP.

Being visible as a player in a league is not the same thing as a season report being submitted. Take a look at the past seasons box at your league to see which seasons have been reported.

My league players also show up as playing in season 7 but I have yet to submit a report for Freeze because the site won't let me.

What I mean-On my profile page, I have the little Pokeball saying I have participated in, and am reported for that league season. While I can't speak for the OP's particular situation, it is the se league. Not sure what you mean by "being visible as a player" however.

That little pokeball indicates participation for previous seasons and attendance for the current season. It means that you are visible as a player in that league.

This is not the same thing as being reported for a league. For that you need to go to the league page and look at the past season list. For Example https://www.pokemon.com/us/account/play-pokemon-leagues/1251/ has Jet as the last season. All my league players have the Freeze pokeball as I enter players as the season progresses instead of waiting for the reporting window to open.

I know this isn't your fault, NoPoke, but that is AWFULLY confusing. I've always assumed the pokeball image indicated the season had been reported.

I really have to wonder how many people are going to be short 1 Play! Point because they thought this league season counted? I get this feeling that Nationals this year is going to have some major registration issues. . .

^My friends is going anyway just for the fun of it
that is just terrible and i agree tons of people are gonna show up short

I can see both sides of this issue. I've had players come up to me the following league session after joining and ask why their league attendance isn't showing on the website. A combination of eager expectation and concern that something may be wrong. I've also made mistakes when entering players into the league roster and had to remove them prior to submitting the season report.

I'd like the season Play! Point to be counted immediately too as I know that there are players out there for whom it would make a difference (though not very many in the UK). However I can't think of a simple way of doing this without the user play point display becoming confusing as errors are made and then corrected.

I agree that the pokemon website should make it clear that the current season will not count until after the League Owner has reported their final attendance for that season. A visual clue such as a pokeball that becomes an ultraball once the season has been reported could be a place to start.

Part of the problem is that as a group players don't yet trust this page https://www.pokemon.com/us/account/my-playpoints?product=tcg to be correct
