Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Point requirement for entering UK Nats?

What is the minimum requirement of points/tournaments attended needed to enter the coming UK Nats? I'm a bit worried because I haven't been to any tournaments since the point system was announced, but I went to some before it was announced- does this mean my past tournament records count for nothing and I have 0 points? Really confused about this system. I've been out of touch for a few months, so ignore this if the point system's been dropped and gone.

I believe that it will be 10 Play! Points, which are completely different to Championship Points. You get these for simply going to tournaments and get more for States over Battle Roads for example.. Also, as I understand it so far, only tournaments from this season will count.

I think that is the right number, but the amount of points for each event hasn't been confirmed yet which is slightly annoying for people that want to know what they need to attend to get to Nats. Hopefully TPCi will let us know soon!

EDIT: Agree with the post below :) Playing the waiting game...

It depends on each country. No Play! Points will be required for attending French national. Considering the attendance between European and North American nats, it could be that only North American nats will use Play!Points…

10 Play points for UK nats. Also curious to see which events get how many Play points attributed to them :)

From what has been announced so far

Battle Roads +1 Play! Point
States/regionals +5 Play! Points
other events +? Play! Points.

I'm told that more details will be forthcomming early next year. The intention is that Nationals is the event for players who participate over the season and not for those who just turn up once a year for the swag.

Some have already managed 10 Play! points so I don't think anyone active in the game is going to miss out.

I like the fact that nationals people can just turn up and play...

what if someone is busy throughout the year or doesn't have the money to play except at Nats, they can no longer do this. Good players often just playtest before Nats and then compete.

What about people that judge throughout the year, can they not play at nats?

Nationals should be open to everyone and it's kind of a shame that they no longer will be...

keep in mind that PlayPoints! are also distributed via League most likely.
They just do not want Nationals to be a new players first event

No they just dont want an experianced player to skip playing all year long, then go to Nationals as the only event they particapted in all year long and make T8, go play in Worlds and make T4 and then say that there is no need to play in tournaments besides nationals.

I'm almost sure the main reason for the point requirements is DukeFireBird's. Without a requirement last year, I think around 50 people registered and did not show up to Round 1 causing major delays. With the requirement, the players that are registering are experienced enough that they understand the game and do not create as many delays as beginners. It also makes it so spectators can't just sign up for a free t-shirt and not show up to their games. I don't know of very many experienced players that only go to Nationals other than Tom Dolezal, so I don't think that's what caused the requirement.

Nope that actualy happened last year. A player skipped everything all year long except Nationals. He then made it T8 where he got in invite to Worlds. He went to Worlds where he made T4. So he got a trip and invite to Worlds 2012. Then he posted online what a waste it is to play in the smaller events earlier in the year.

This situation above will never happen again.

Did you not read my final sentence.....? I specially mentioned that exact player... I never posted anywhere that that never happened last year. I know it did. However, I find it hard to believe Pokemon would have requirements just so that situation would never happen again, considering it only applies to maybe a few players that have every played the game. 50~ people signing up and not showing up to their Round 1 match is a rather legitimate reason for the new points requirement. Making it so a few of the best players can't participate in Nationals otherwise isn't.

Do prereleases count for play points? and League season's? It also says I haven't got the cities ones yet on the official site?

The site is a bit contrary in what it is counting or not.

From what I've seen it should be counting League but doesn't appear to count release events.

Hm... It appears to be counting 'Friendly Tournaments', such as the Mothlay Saturdays we have in exeter. Would I have to attend an entire league season? I can't make it to many because of School, which obviously comes first.
