Pokegym Roundtable Podcast

Roundtable 10: States and Set"

Technical notes:

This podcast is WAY longer than usual ... you are strongly encouraged to get some podcast client software or use iTunes to listen. This way you can navigate the chapter markers and jump around between the questions.

Looks like we've moved to the next audio plateau with our new compression setting for the recording (no compression). So, onward and upward from here.

Want to get the podcast? To tune in you need some podcast client software!

You can get the Windows or Mac version of iTunes as a free download and get all the bells and whistles of images and links that play along with the podcast.

If you have your own favorite audio player and just need the Podcast downloader, try out another Mac or Windows free download - Juice.

To access the podcast AFTER you have iTunes installed, click this NEW link:

The enhanced version of the Podcast that plays in Podcast clients has episode art, chapters and links that you can see and interact with as you play the podcast.

If you need toenter your feed URL manually, then paste this URL into your podcast client:

If you don't use a podcast client, can't play mp4 or want a file only 80% the sizes of the normal one, try the plain MP3 version of the podcast (available by 11PM PST) at:

Dang, Archaic was so loud! Really good podcast though!

Sorry about that. ^^;; Since I'm actually using Skype, as opposed to being contacted over a regular phoneline like everyone else was, I'd be much louder than everyone else there. Not a problem in the Bulbacasts, where we're all using Skype, but obviously it'd be an issue here. I didn't realise the sound difference would be quite that bad though. I'll make sure I turn the mike volume down the next time I get the opportunity to record something for the PokéGym Roundtable.

Hopefully, that'll be sooner rather than later. =) Got something planned there, but we're still not sure how that might work out at this point. Need to get a few things organised with regards to timing and so forth. In any case...I really enjoyed being a part of the roundtable, and it was an interesting experience to see how things are done differently to the Bulbacast. I'm not sure how much worth I actually am to the PokéGym casts, given that I'm not primarily a player of the TCG, so please don't hesitate to give me a few pointers where need be. ^^;;

Skype seems to give a better quality recording. I'd be more inclined to use Skype if/when I go on the show as compared to a regular phone.

From what I remember, it was actually "Ungeller" = "Evil" Kadabra, from the original Rocket set. I think that nanimonoka would have more information on that particular pronounciation as compared to the rest of the world.

I enjoyed it Kim! Thx for the invite! Lots of good talk and info.

I keep on getting only podcast #8.

Looks like I have to use the MP3 version.

That happened with me on Podcast #9 and it's happening again with this one. I'm ok with downloading the MP3 version though.

Couple thoughts: 1) Check your podcast URL ... it changed a while back. Be sure to use the one listed above. 2) What is your podcast client software? Maybe something we can adjust there.

We'll be doing more with chapters and art later, but I find it really useful now. We may also get to video podcasts occasionally, so debugging this would be worthwhile.

On the leagues suffering from the tournament schedule, I am experiencing that too for my Saturday league. When a tournament comes up on a Saturday, I usually don't get more than a month's notice about it. The only thing I can do is change the league day to corresponding Sunday of the weekend, but it causes confusion among my players. Having a league on the weekday is really nice since it is immune to the interruption of tournaments, like Bulbasnore pointed out.

Honestly, don't turn down your volume. If anything, everyone else needs to turn his/her volumes up. Maybe it is because I'm listening to the mp3 version, but the whole thing is very quiet and calm. I sometimes catch myself falling asleep and have to rewind the podcast a bit to hear what I missed. A lot of the voices sound muffled and it sometimes seems like the speakers are unsure of what they're saying.

I second that.
