Now comes the best part, if you don't agree with them... Click the form and tell me what you think the prices should be. This is fun, right!?



In an effort to create the best price guide for PTCGO, I have created a Google Document, which will need as many of you as possible to complete. As well as get a gauge of what prices people think the cards are worth. As this is only a test, at the moment, I have only included a list of the EX cards. If this gets popular enough, I will continue to increase the amount of cards represented, to include at some point, the majority of the meta cards.


I would very much like for this to become very popular; as I myself am very interested to see what /you/ value cards at.

If you could please help spread the word around, and get as many people as you know to help participate, then we will have an even better listing

Random Notes:
A few problems that I can see will pop up will be duplicates of data. I will try and get something going that will erase the duplicates, however; they will still show up in the summary view. This is only a minor inconvenience, since the spread sheet will only allow for the most current data set from an individual. (Whenever I get around to writing said duplicate deleter)

This is a great idea. It should really help those to see if they're making a good trade since there are a lot of people willing to rip newbies off. There used to be something like this on the PTCGO forums, but it's biased and hasn't been updated in a while. This is a lot better.

BTW, secret rares and full art supporters tend to go for as much as EXes. I traded a SR Blastoise for 6 packs and seen it go even higher than that.
 
Gravybeasts trade thread and the new temp one on the PTCGO forums are generally accepted as "MSRP" of the digital card world. Anything above or below that is gouging or a sale respectively.
 
Yea, which I find both cool and funny. Hence this test. I have no problem with anyone just going through and posting gravys values in there, either.

Also, added the response sheet to first post.

One notable thing (somewhat related) is, when you're looking up average prices on Ebay, make sure you're checking the "sold" or completed transactions and not the listings that still have bids etc. That way, your averages won't get skewed by the person who thinks FA Deoxys is a 100$ card.
 
Yesterday, I got a golden max potion. Traded it for 6 packs easily.

I also think plasma Snorlax and plasma Chandelure are worth one pack.

Uncommon Max potion, Uncommon ultra ball, rare candy, and DCE are worth two a pack.

Most other trainers and energy are worth 4 a pack. (though sometimes 3).

Well, with enough people actually pricing it, the outliers shouldn't matter as much, even with people putting 1 as a value, the values I have right now, aren't all that bad. There are a few that may be a little low, though.

While I agree with you for the most part- Those 4 trainers should be worth a pack each, even though I sell them two for 1 on public. Nobody is opening BW-ND packs anymore so DCE, Max Potion, Energy Switch, Recycle and Prism are tougher to find and you often find they are one of the objects of what I call "garbage traders" affections. Ultra Ball is easily a 2 for 1 card, but i used to sell 3 for 1 simply because I had such a huge stock until recently, and same goes for Rare Candy. Stage 2 decks are a lil more popular now that Freeze is out, so I think that factors into the demand being so high for em, thus a price increase.

I really think you should, if you can, exclude the ridiculous "1" pack entries. It totally throws off the results (especially with the low turn out so far).

Honestly, I would really like to make a list of all the people I see on PTCGO offering garbage trades (like 1 pack for Deoxys), and post them here, since PTCGO doesnt allow that on their forums, as sort of a Blacklist. I dont always offer totally "fair trades" but if I offer a Tornadus EX DEX, Mewtwo Promo, BKex PS, and 4 PF packs for a Deoxys EX FA thats much better than offering 1-6 packs for the same card, value wise. It just really irks me, since I pay to play this and Im more or less an honorable person, and never rip ppl off in private trades, and even offer help to newbs and have even been known to give out some cards to help ppl get started.

Since Freeze there has been a HUGE influx of scammers and garbage traders flooding public with kiddie/newb scamming crap, and Im frankly tired of it.

Sorry I shouldnt rant here, perhaps I should make my own thread? lol.

Anyways, the poll was a good idea, but I just dont know how large the PTCGO install base is here on the 'Gym to get truly accurate results. This forum barely sees much activity, lest it be the bug report thread (lol).
 
The only ones I marked as worth one packs are the really bad, non FA EXes (like Heatran and the BC Kyurems). I probably priced mine as lower than most, overestimating the value of packs, but when I trade EXes for packs, those are what I typically price them at.

But I agree completely on the newb traps. I myself have been offered a single pack for my Landorus (a card which even I would consider worth 4 packs) and have seen similar deals in public offers. Fine by me, it only makes my offers look better. :biggrin:
 
I'll most likely remove a few of them in the next few days. Hopefully a few more people will give it a go. It's so hard to get anyone to actually fill it out, even though it's only like a minute of time.

Also, I posted it on reddit and the pokemontcg.com. So it's not just here, though... still have a low turnout.
 
Wow, this is really helpful. I just started using ptcgo last night and some jerk was swearing to me that his regular Cobalion EX was going for 15 packs.
 
Chaoz if you post in lobbies most of the time ppl will reply with the current going rate. And the results from this test are incomplete as well.
 
Yea, unfortunately, gonna need tons of people taking this to try and see any realistic value.

That being said, the prices aren't actually that bad, only have a few people being jerks and lowballing.

Also, there's alot of flak from people on the pokemontcg forums. Well, really just two people,(I posted a thread on this there as well) gist of it being, since I'm not actually offering cards at these values it's a waste of space. Seems people can't grasp the concept of trade value thread. :p

As far as the Gravy prices go, anything above his price won't happen, because people can just get it from him. Below is what most everything should be, as he sells at an increase. Try and trade with any of his approved people and you will get offers 3-4 packs lower than what they "value" the cards at.

The bad thing about prices not being able to go higher than his, sometimes people aren't trading cards for an extended period of time, that drives the prices up. Well should anyways.
 
Youre totally right about most of the people on his trade thread, but I have done trades with a couple of them, namely PsyQueen and TBurrows, that tend to accept fairer offers than the others. TBurrows public trades are definitely the best of the bunch, while I see others low balling or blatantly ripping in public to resupply their stock at minimal pack/card cost to them. Wont name who of course, but it excludes the two names I posted already.

The thing about a "survey" is that people can just put whatever they want. If we wanted REAL results we would have to convince a mod or programmer to post statistics from the actual trades being done in game to see true values. Of course, that would also be totally up in the air since a lot of people want the trade to favor them to varying degrees, and then theres those like Flab Slab whatever that post 1-2 packs for any UR besides Deoxys, for which they post 6.
 
Giveaway:

I have decided to do a giveaway for every 25 responses that I receive. After every 25 different responses, I will select a random responder, and give away any 1 or more of my cards, depending on value. Cards include: Darkrai FA, Mewtwo FA, and many others, your choice.

Now this makes it very important to be truthful whenever you respond to the form, as I said, there is a check that will delete values that seem to be malicious, too high or too low. (They are extremely high and low values, so anyone being truthful in their values will not have to worry)


Rules:
Fill out the form and be truthful in responses. Especially the PTCGO name, as this is the name that will be used when trading to winners. 1 entry per person. Selection will be after every 25 unique responses. I will be using a random number generator in order to select the winner. Entries will be cumulative, so 1 entry will be enough to enter you in as many selections as take place. (Though you may update your values if you so desire, only the latest value will be available.) Any name that does not match your PTCGO name will be disqualified.

Winners will be notified in thread. If a winner does not respond to claim their prize after ~3 days, I will randomly generate a new winner.

I am also giving some though to a referral system, where people can be rewarded through referring people to take the survey. Make a post and let me know if you like the idea. If I can get around 15 people interested(This is posted on other sites as well), I will try and think something up as a reward system.
