Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Prime’s Declassified Origins Survival Guide 2008

Do you have to call in advance for a taxi or do you just scream at one like they do in the movies? I've never been to Ohio, so I'm not sure how it works.

How do I collect my travel allowance (1st place) and Origins Pass (1st and 2nd place)?

Upon receiving your prize package at your State Championships, the Tournament Organizer will provide you with a packet. In this packet there will be a checklist, Origins Pre-Registration Form, and Player Fact Sheet. In order to qualify for the benefits, the checklist and Origins Pre-Registration Form must be postmarked by April 4th, 2008. If you would like to participate in our marketing efforts, we ask that you mail the Player Fact Sheet by April 4th, 2008.

The Origins Pre-Registration Form must be mailed directly to Origins at the address provided on the form in order to secure your Full-Show Pass. Players who fail to return their Pre-Registration Form to Origins in time will lose the benefit of free admission to the convention. Please note, this year Origins will require parents/guardians and additional guests to purchase a spectator pass to enter the event hall. Please visit www.originsgames.com for more information.

The travel allowance will be given on Friday, June 28th, between the hours of 1:00 P.M. and 4:00 P.M. and for one hour after Swiss rounds on Saturday, June 29th, at the Pokémon TCG Tournament Headquarters in the TCG Hall. Photo ID of the player or the player’s parent/guardian will be required to collect your travel allowance.

That doesn't answer his question (not the first one, anyway). He wants to know where he can pick up his badge. I'm curious about that, too - if you win a badge is there a separate line you enter at that long line of decks where you can buy them, or what? They weren't supposed to have shipped them to us in the mail, were they? ;/

Another question: Can you use a school ID for going on a plane? I don't have a driver's license yet, and that's my only "official" ID. What about the hotels?

Not sure about the school ID but you might want to consider getting yourself a state ID- Also an another important thing to remember is that cell phones in the hall are very hard to hear. I would leave your's on vibrate so you can hear it...or make sure to take a blue tooth...

I don't believe that it stated anywhere that a badge would be mailed to you because Origins does not mail badges. You mailed in your pre-registration form which means that you are pre-registered just like others that purchased their badges in advance. You will need to get in the line for pre-registered badges to pick it up when you arrive at the Convention Center - just have your id. Luckily, the pre-registered lines are much shorter than the lines of convention goers who are trying to purchase their badges on-site.

The lines are longest at the beginning of each day and Saturday morning is usually the busiest as many people (Pokemon and non-Pokemon) only attend on the weekend. I've never heard stories of people spending half their day in line or anything like that. But that said, I think many past Origins and Nationals attendees are trying to prepare first timers so they do not show up at 8:45 Saturday morning and are disappointed when they discover that they will not be in line when Nationals registration begins at 9. It is best to be armed with knowledge and come prepared.

Will the lines really be that long, even late at night?

Last year when we were picking up a 1 day for Saturday on a Friday evening, there was like 5-6 people in line.

Most people will already have their junk and or stay the whole weekend. Wednesday Morning will most likely be the worst day. Its not like Origins is Gencon or anything. Saturday is pretty bad too since people don't usually work and do all their gamer related junk on Saturday and Sunday. If you're coming down solely for Nats, I would advise getting your badge the day before if you can.

1) Ask Drew Holton

Even superheroes like Drew Holton need gas/parking money. XD

As Toys said, I believe there are shuttles that go from the Airport to the con center, but I would definitely advise checking before hand.

Oh yeah, be in line for deck registration as soon as humanly possible. Very good idea to be up early and be near the front of the line than here at 8:45 and way in the back when the staff is threatening 1st round losses. (Woman's on staff, I HAVE to be up anyways... XD)

Random and possibly out-of-place question that I really need answered:

I won an Origins badge for getting 2nd at States. I filled it out with my name on it. Then I won Regionals. I did the necessary paperwork to transfer the badge to a friend of mine. My question is: Is my friend registered for Nationals (not Origins... Nationals - the Pokemon event)?

Thanks in advance.
