Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

RANKINGS - 2007-08 Season

1840-1860.

Are you serious? So after nats. if I get like a 50 point boost per say, and i'm currently at 1821, accounting I got 25 point from BR I have... 1886, i'll get an invite?
Also lets say I go into nats with a 1840 record. There's 8 rounds. I go 5-3 (maybe 6-2) Will I lose points, break even, make a little, or make a lot?

And i'm really desperate to get into worlds. If I go 3-0 and drop with 1850 points lets say already, is that enough for an invite? And would that be smart? Thanks!

I'd go a little higher since you're in Seniors, where it is much easier to dominate the competition. There'd be nothing worse than playing it too cautiously and losing your invite - and if you're a World-class player, you should do fine at Nats anyways.

Bonsly: Complete Nats or don't play at all (In Nats). It takes guts to play for your nation so do your best. There are still BR's if you screw up.

jason get ready to edit asia pacific ones because sydney cities will be uploaded soon.
which would take me to around 1755, like 80 points clear of everyone

I can almost guarantee the #41 seed in NA will get into Worlds. Since T8 of US Nats will be passed down, 25+8 = 33. And T4 of Canada and Mexico Nats will be passed down, 33+4+4 = 41. So you really have a shot as long as youre above 1830. Depending, of course.

Key word is "almost." It reveals your lack of absolute confidence. ;)

But seriously, I think that many lower seeds past 25 will make worlds this year. My bet would be a bit less generous than Umby's, since it's very _unlikely_ for all Nats placers to make the top 25 and directly below...So...Let's guess that we get trickles all the way down to 35.

Of course. I was just giving the "possibilites". But what you said is WAY more accurate.
The main point is, that every point counts.

It does. People like you and I will do well to play in Battle Roads...However, I'd rather have the Professor Cup, so I'll just be judging where I'm needed. : D

High-ranking players, let me reiterate this: do NOT drop nationals just for an invite unless you absolutely must play in worlds. It's lame to drop the year's second most important event for the sake of "the" most important one, so only do it under extreme circumstances.

...Plus, it "should" be easier to make Worlds this year via grinder ;)

I would never drop Nats for an invite. (As much as I would kill to go to Worlds)
In my opinion, play every tournament to win. Not 4-0 drop.
*high fives you*

I would agree, I think 35 is the safe number. I migh be inclined to say 37 as I expect 4 of the 8 invites from CA/MX to make it into the T33 with the acceptance that all of the 8 invites from US Nats getting in.

Yeh, I agree, on both counts here. The Prof. Cup is lots of fun, I have my points from running a league, if I didnt I would be judging some tournies if I hadnt earlier in the year. I usually try to judge prereleases as they give you 10 points. :thumb:

I play to win, but if I am not sure I that confident in my ability to win in top cut. I seem to have a bit of a problem with bad matchups and back luck and end up getting knocked out in the first round of top cuts.

I have to disagree on the play every tourny to win. I go into everyone expecting to loose. If someone goes 4-0 and drops at nats because they want an invite that just shows that they know how to play the system.

If someone goes 4-0 drop at Nats and gets an invite, I think it possibly shows that U.S. Nationals is a harder tournament than Worlds is more than it shows playing the system. I mean if you put it in perspective there is definitely an argument for Nats being the hardest tournament in the World. 7-2 miss? I don't remember or have I looked, but I bet a 4-2 in swiss last year made T8 at least in Worlds. 5-3 in previous Worlds has made it all the way to the T4. Impossible at an event like Nats.

But yeah, 35-37th is a good guess. We'll see. I still would be surprised if the cutoff is over 1860.

I liken it to an NFL team that has already made the playoffs and chooses to not start their star QB in the last game of the season as to not risk him getting hurt.

Just playing it safe. Sure, it's backing in, but at least you're in.
