This is something I've wanted to do for awhile but I simply have not had the time since worlds to sit at my computer and get my thoughts out, so here it goes.
At the tournament there were allot of good things and allot of bad. For the bad, I do not wish to go into it. Much has already been said and I'll leave it at that. Again I think Prof Dav did a wonderful job of compensating for it. For the good though, there is soo much to make up for it. Having the Japanese players there with us was great. Though I did hear allot of inappropriate comments referring to what they "took" or "stole" from us, I think that is wrong. Though I too share your sentiments (I was 'knocked' out of getting into the top 32 by a Japanese player) I think a firm "we'll get em next year" will do just fine. The Japanese we not only very good players, they were also very kind, and I don’t mean to sound sappy or anything but they brought back a kind of decency to this game that I haven't seen in a long time. I think too long has the cutthroat style of magic (and now even yugioh) splashed onto pokemon. Dav and Big Daddy snorlax were right about us having a certain "spirit of the game." Yes I realize that now we have allot of big prizes, boxes and trips and trophies, but we still have the power to play with a certain honor in our game. Going home with a win is nice, but I learned from worlds that going home knowing you tried your best, maybe got a little unlucky, but had a fun time, is a completely different feeling. I left Florida smiling because I know that I had a great time with all the new people I met. The Japanese players, and a few others I can notably say that Id like to meet again. So let me take time to put my thoughts in a list.
1) The Japanese players, you guys proved how many years more that you have been playing this game.
2) Prof Dav of course, already said why you made worlds a great event.
3) The New Zealand Champ, you and your brother were awesome.
4) Farbsman, I really have to make it out to Indiana one of the days, maybe ill pay a visit at ure city champs, it’s not that far away from Chicago.
5) Gym Leader Phil, wish I could come down to Florida again but eh, ill see somewhere.
6) The professors who helped run worlds. There were a few inconsistencies, but for the most part you guys made the gears inside the clock move smoothly.
7) The IT guys for actually getting the pairings and standings to work on the projector, that was something we definitely needed.
8) Meganium45 for being Vince.
9) Jimmer for taking my little joke so well. (If anyone from POP has some funny stories I can use about anyone, email me and let me know. There are lots more fakes to come)
10) All of the players, who will hopefully learn a few things from the Japanese players and get their friends playing this game again. We need more people playing.
That’s all for now. I’m probably forgetting allots of things but If I remember I can add them in later.

Oh and P.S. I hope everyone enjoyed the whyndham wynaut, that was a product of me allot with jimmer's strange daze.
I think the 2004 world championships was the best this yet to happen to pokemon. I would like to give thanks to David Schwimmer for proving how committed he is to this game. His effort, and countless hours of work proved what he is willing to do for this game. Many of the other staff of Pokemon of America and POP proved how dedicated they are to this game, and this is only their first year at it. During this coming second year of POP, I expect lots of changes to take place, all for the good. They are still working out what’s good for tournaments and what isn’t. New software, a new format, all good things that we need to give this game some momentum again. The best thing about worlds though I would say is gossip. Seriously, all the talk of how big the prizes were, how much fun everyone had has actually drawn old players back to where I run tournaments. That was the best thing, to see old players return to play in a prerelease, and also many new ones. Back to worlds though.
