regi sleeves need an answer

I did read it, and I agree with most of the points stated, however, I think that if someone brought a deck made up of entirely Japanese cards, more than likely, they would be of Japanese descent or something. If not, it would be as much of a disadvantage to the player with the Japanese deck as it would to the other player, considering they would have to look for the translation when asked. I just don't see the huge advantage. Either way, how could Lawman ban it when there is the clause I quoted above?

Yoyo: I never said I would/have banned japanese cards. I simply stated my opinion on an entirely japanese deck by an american in an american event. In fact, I never used the word "ban" at all.....you all have used that term. I simply showed you the rules and stated that japanese cards CAN and WILL be used at my events (and at all sanctioned events, unless the rules change) BUT that if it is determined that the use of said cards gives an advantage to said player, they could be penalized or asked to use some english cards.

Every american player that I have encountered that uses japanese cards in their decks has american cards too! They CHOOSE to use japanese cards. Sometimes, you dont have enough english cards to complete ALL the copies of said card, but they usually have some of the english ones. So, you tell me.....wyh do they CHOOSE to go all japanese?? I certainly have my ideas. I wont place them all here.

I do but I don't play in them because I'm usualy the HJ at the ones that I go to. As for getting the packs "at a discount", most of my local card stores sell DP-on packs for $2 a pack.(Or $70 a box) That still doesn't make them cheep enough to get English over Japanese.
And if I ever go to one of your tornaments then I'll be sure to add in any English cards that I have availible.:smile:

Yes I believe I know what you are talking about. For people who don't know the cards very well may trust them to much and they might cynthia's feelings for 8 always, even if their pkmn wasn't knocked out. Since they can't read the card and do not bother asking for the translation.

Didn't we already have this discussion and it ended up being that the all Japanese deck would be allowed? I'm pretty sure the off topic part of this thread is deja vu. If a person is actually lying about what a card does, then they can get in trouble, but until then, they have not tried to gain any advantage. It takes no longer to show a translation to an opponent who asks than it does to show the actual card from the play area to the opponent who asks. If the opponent doesn't know what a card does, then they're still not gonna know what it does just cause it's in English. They have to read it no matter what. There is no difference at all, it's merely perceived.

Anyway, the sleeves are definitely the best American sleeves that we've ever had. If they keep this style up I will be very pleased. Japan's done a lot of stuff right, we should take note of that.

Look at the all-foreign deck from the judge's perspective: Could mean they have to watch the game significantly more closely.

I know that Japanese cards are cheaper and that you can get them sooner than the later US releases. But I'm more familiar with the English cards and I think that I play better against them. Therefore, I feel that I'm at a disadvantage against a Japanese deck. I really see the point in using Japanese Lv. X and possibly trainers, special energy and utility Pokemon (i.e. Claydol). Beyond these cards I would say that it is inconsiderate to play with foriegn language cards. Ignoring the rules completely, I think that you provide your opponent with a more enjoyable experience if you use cards that they can read.

Actually, it would be better if the judge had to look at a translation rather than the actual card from play, since this would allow the flow of play to continue without the judge causing a big interruption just because they don't know what something does.

If I am checking on what a card does, whether I'm a judge or a player, I always tell the other player(s) that they can continue playing normally while I'm reading, unless there's an actual question about a card.

I'm curious as to how you would be at a disadvantage? What would disadvantage you that wouldn't be present if they were English cards?

As an interesting side note for this thread, since Worlds is an International event, NO outside refs are needed for any legal modified card. So, you can play any language card. The only refs needed are for the reprints that have corrections/changes ie Steven's Advice and DRE to name 2.
