dld4a - I don't have a problem with how my deck was judged. I have a problem with what is in SE's deck.

I hope you understand that.

Yea, I wasn't trying to say that. I was just trying to help your deck building skills.

The letters may spell out a word, but without any intent or arrant rule-breaking, there's no actions that should be taken.

He hasn't done anything against the rules, so he won't get banned. He didn't violate rules of the contest, so he'll remain I'm sure.

This issue has gotten enough attention now. Leave it alone. If there will be a reaction this isn't the place to discuss it. (moderators forum is).

Okay guys, I've heard the complaints...SIMMER down =/. A couple of these unowns worked, but yeah, clever wording, S-E...

Let the moderators decide how they want to handle this. Quite frankly, I'm annoyed every time one of you tries to "step up" and pretend to be a moderator yourself. You're no moderator, but please, don't be a Burninating-Torchic, either (the king of false mods).

Patriarch, I have a question.........

On the first page, it says that neither I nor my opponent have submitted an entry. But in the brackets, you put me on there in the second round. So am I in..........................?

yes, you are. I stopped updating the first page, because bracketmaker.com is superior.

And FYI, I have _one_ more deck to critique, and I'm all finished!

Now, now, that's not very nice. It's spelled with an underscore, not a dash  . Man, that is a creepy smiley.
But yeah, nobody could ever hope to compete with me in that category ;x....
anyways, Good job SomethingElse, none of us could believe you actually won with that...hehe...

just getting clarification since I've heard it both ways, did penguinmaster get his deck in on time or what?

Penguinmaster got his deck in late. HOWEVER, in matches where neither person turned in their deck, I added on extra hours. He was fortunate enough to turn his in four minutes before his new deadline.

I'm going to be honest. I wrote up three pages for the submission, TWICE. Because each time my computer decided to perform an illegal operation and it all went unsaved for some reason. Six total pages for the submission, and here I am writing it up AGAIN. It's not going to be nearly as detailed as the other two, because it's kind of ridiculous writing up eight pages for this Round 1 of a contest, and most people barely explain themselves to begin with...

The synergy of the pokemon lies in the anti-pokemon power. Power short from Raichu ex does 50 sniping damage to those with powers, or 30 to those without. Second attack is straightforward 70, use with lightning+boost or slow powerup. The body allows for added protection from the ever-rising ex decks like ZRE and turn two, and conveniently allows Raichu ex to survive a sky kick from a Medicham ex. Free retreat allows Raichu ex to last a long time, and lets Medicham ex/another Raichu ex come up to hit while not letting the opponent take prizes or forcing energy loss in the form of retreat.

Medicham ex both adds anti-power synergy with it's body, and it has synergy with it's first attack being a sniping move. The ability to spread damage quickly, hurt decks with powers, reduce ex effectiveness, be quick and powerful will allow this deck to actually be playable in the metagame.

It's a classic T2 engine. It might seem unoriginal, but the creativity of the deck lies in the pokemon combo-the engine is simply the most efficient way of bringing the combo out-even if it is unoriginal, it's practical and consistant.

The draw engine is straight draw, to prevent the possible inconsistancy of cards like CopyCat and Steven's Advice. Admin for disruption.TVR/Mary's both work well, giving three cards with no risk. The metagame nowadays is simply too unstable and too awkward to use any card and expect it to yield consistant results.Who knows if t2 will be popular, or bench decks will rise, or other suchs cards like Championship Arena to manipulate hands.

I also chose Pow! over reversal because it can be used in lower numbers, and because I'm awaiting the new ruling on being able to pow! Energy onto basics that normally coudn't take them, and allowing cards like DRE/Scramble to be discarded, which will help with er2 for disruption of energy, and pokemon.

BF- More anti-power, and doesn't hurt the deck. It's a counter-gym, and an offensive gym for the ever-prevalent pidgeot.

Er2-disruption. Too nice not to have.

Energy is straightforward- Boost to provide early attacks of high damage, or for late-game quickness and recovery. Only 4 fighting energy because rarely will medicham ex be used, and if it is, it will likely be for pure power over sky kick. 9 Lightning for raichu's second/first attack which both only need one L energy. This combined with pikachu's 50% chance of gettng a L energy from the deck should allow the deck to properly function even despite running into other er2s and pow!s.

I originally had 4 boost/8 Lightning, but after some playtesting, I found that 8 lightning was too low, and that against t2 decks and bomb/pow decks, I would lose my precious energy and be unable to attack, so I upped the lightning by one and exchanged that for a boost. Boost will still be able to come in handy, especially if I need a quick unexpected hit from a pokemon that wasn't powered up.

Sorry I couldn't write more, I did-but it was all lost. This should suffice, and if I get into a later round, you'll see more descriptive and insightful write-ups with the submissions. It's a good contest, should see some brilliant new combos and strategies emerge-good luck with it Patriarch"

Deck (7/10): This is a firm decklist with some neat tricks to it, but lacks some "oomf" to make it really good. On Pokemon, it kind of feels like Medicham ex clutters your deck. Maybe a little re-arranging of the lines would have done this deck some good (either -1/1 of raichu or -1/1 of cham). I like your bias to straight draw; seems like a solid choice, but 3 admin/3 TVR seems to be more effective than going all-out on TVR. You should have gone all-out on both your Battle Frontiers and your Pows! If you ONLY play pow and ER2, then play 4 pow, because it's ESSENTIAL to your deck strategy! Same with frontier. You need to establish that lock, and you need to avoid being Desert ruins'd. Even if your opponent makes the play and drops Desert Ruins first, they still win the gym war unless they play 3 or less ruins, which is an uncommon sight nowadays. Energy seems overall good; I like boost because it's nice with raichu and cham. Good job.

Creativity (2/5): The concept of T2 in general takes a hit, and understandably why. Throwing in 'Cham doesn't add or subtract creativity...I just don't feel that "buzz" of this being an amazingly original deck, because it's been done enough times before (albeit Raichu ex was the throw-in line to Medicham for a few decks).

Card Use (3/5): Actually, this is a good way to abuse Raichu ex-by itself. Although I'm certainly not sure if it's the BEST way to do it, the concept works, thanks to your 'Chu Lock. The comboes that made Medicham good make this good as well.

"//NAME: Iron Chef Round 1 Deck (papazit_canada)
// Pokemon 20

3 Raichu RG
3 Raichu ex EM
3 Aipom UF
3 Slugma UF
3 Magcargo DX
1 Zapdos ex

4 Celio's Network
4 Surprise! Time Machine
3 Mary's Request

1 Copycat
2 Battle Frontier
1 Pokémon Retriever
1 Ancient TM [Rock]
1 Warp Point

// Energy 15
1 Multi energy
1 Fire energy
4 Boost energy
9 Lightning energy

My main ingredient is Raichu ex EM and lightning type pokemon. I have made my deck with the Hidden Legends-On format.
Strategy on the deck:

a) Pokemon: I use Raichu ex as my main attacker, and instead of old boring 212 pidgeot I decided to use aipom and magcargo as my main search engine with great balls and celios for easy access to aipoms. I also use Raichu RG to power himself up and when need-be, others. I can also use Raichu RG to power himself up and use a Surprize time machine to switch to the Raichu ex for major damage. Zapdos is more of a tech, as I can use him to "swoop" in and switch out my near fainted active pokemon.

b) Trainers: I use 6 draw cards that are able to draw off the top of my deck as they are combined with magcargo, the other 2 (adm, copy) are more of a tech. I use 4 Surprize time machine to switch my raichu's up. The stadium card I chose for this deck is battle frontier as it suits it the best. I teched in an ATM rock as my raichu ex and aipom both can hit any of my opponents pokemon, which makes atm very useful in this deck. Great Ball and Celio's network are there for getting set-up.

c) Energy: The multi energy and fire energy are there for magcargo as a secordary attacker and the boost is for mainly raichu ex and sometimes magcargo with the fire energy.

Thank you for taking to time to read my entry and putting on this contest,

Spencer"

Deck (6/10): okay job, but I see a few things here and there that I'm not too fond of. On your Pokemon, I have a feeling that you'll be getting inconsistent starts (lone slugma is no fun), what with no solid starter or swoop! teleporters. As far as draw lines go, you're definitely okay, although I see a logical reason why PETM could be >celio in this deck. Your low battle frontier count does you very little, other than counter a gym every now and then. Energy looks somewhat goofy, especially since you focus on getting energy out ASAP. Legit job, but it could have been better.

Creativity (3/5): The deck is something that people would think of, but it's still pretty uncommon. I think that your S!TM'ing is an amazingly cool surprise, so gj on that :D!

Card Use (2/5): This is a fun little deck, in a few good ways. However, the usage doesn't have focus, because you don't have your mind set on making this a boost-raichu ex deck, or a recharge-surprise! deck.
