Conversations at Worlds 2004
I was talking in the lobby with Marsh (Skywolf) and he told me he was intending to ask questions regarding Intl. OP to Dave. At that moment Dave came along and Marsh asked him to have a word with him about Intl OP.
Dave said to Marsh he now had some time to discuss and then invited me to join them. I didn’t asked!
This happened around 5 pm Sunday.
Fragments of a conversation between me and an employee of our LD, this employee is Manager POP.
I’m leaving behind me principles. Normally I only post things I have on paper or have reliable source and sometimes my thoughts about issues , but now I’m going to post conversations.
I’m aware this is a he said/she said situation and my word against somebody else’s word.
But this conversation will give a better view why we are stating that our situation is based on:
IF you don't have any facts to accuse persons , create some.
Same Sunday 9 pm.
Employee/ Holds me standing, I need to talk to you.
Me/ Oke, about what
Employee / Who do you think you are that you are talking with Dave S. and Jarrod N.?
Me / I don’t think anything I just got invited by Dave to join. So why shouldn’t I talk with them
Employee/ You are not the one who should talk to them, I don’t like it, What were you discussing.
Me / I don’t care what you like or not, You are not the one who is telling me who to talk to and who not]And if you want to know, we discussed OP in our country. At least the lack of OP and us not getting league materials and I tried to explain that your boss is not willing to work with us, so as long as PUI is telling us to work with our LD is not going to solve anything
Employee/ I have a big problem with Pokemon I can’t get OP running.
Me/ I know, but it’s a decision your boss made, he didn’t want us involved, He had the view how the players environment had to be arranged………..our vision was different and we went our own way, and see were it ended, us having a very large growing players base and you having no growth. You are at the same point were you started last year.
You are not allowed to let us in, so you have to do it on your own effort.
You both even created extra terms for us to obtain any materials, so we are doing without it and still have a grow.
Employee/My boss thinks that one of you is not giving the promocards to the players.
Me/So he THINKS that? What makes him think that?
Employee/ You know him, if he THINKS something he doesn’t need proof. What he thinks is right.
Me/ If he thinks that way, he better sit on his promocards and keep them for his self. Since the start of PUI/POP we didn’t obtain any material so he better keep it, than at least he is sure nobody gets them.
Employee/ Meaby you better contact only me if you want to arrange anything, and not my boss.
Me/ No way, if your boss is not intending to give us materials under the same conditions as others than he can keep them.
Employee/You are selling pokemoncards.
Me/ You to as distributor, and I’m selling my left over singles, what is your problem.
Employee/ You are importing boxes that’s illegal.
Me / NO it’s not, as long as I pay all taxes it’s completely legal so what is your problem
Employee/ You are right, but WE are not earning money if you buy them outside the country.
Me/ Your boss doesn’t want to sell them to us, so we buy them overseas, what is your problem.
Your boss decided not to sell to us, so I don’t see why he is complaining about this, it was his own choice, not mine.
Employee/ You are doing illegal things.
Me/ What do you mean?
Employee/ One of you is uploading multiple tournament result in 5 minutes
Me/ What’s illegal about that?
Employee / Someone inserts several tournaments from different days in TMS in 30 minutes and than upload them all.
Me / Still don’t know what the problem is, or what is illegal about that.
Employee / It’s illegal.
Me / So you are saying me, that if I register tournaments manual, collect them, insert them in TMS if I have time, than upload them all at once it’s illegal/fraud.
Employee/ hmmmmmmmm, the system gets hiccups if you do so many in short period
Me/ That’s something else than fraud and beside it’s not my problem if your system has problems with that. But don’t accuse me for fraud. I’m sick to be accused of things which are normal and you making it sound I’m doing something illegal.
By the way, there are persons who don’t have the money to buy a laptop and bring them to tournaments. They register their tournaments manual and insert them in TMS later. They collect this and do this administration once per week or so. Next time you better think before you accuse me of anything.
Employee/ I didn’t realize that indeed people can do the OP tournaments/administration that way.
Me/ No and you didn’t think about more accusations you are addressing to us. You should first think and than speak and not imitate what your boss is saying, he showed more than once he doesn’t know were he is talking about. Meaby we better stop sanctioning and uploading tournaments than you don’t have any problem.
You are putting valuable time in searching to find anything we are doing wrong, and why? To hide your own mistakes and abuse of the rules. I can understand it’s hard for you to and your boss to get corrected by PUI, but instead of trying to blame us for anything, you should put your time in really setting up OP and learn the rules.
If you know the rules and obey them, we can’t complain and you won’t get corrected easy as that.
Employee / Oke you made yourself clear, btw I made that list for you of the items I got/earned here at Worlds, which I don’t need. If you are still interested in buying some of it, let me know. There are prices behind each item and we discussed the value of things in the staff room. See what you can do with it.
After we got home I bought all the items of that list and the employee shipped them to me.
The reason why I inserted this, is to indicate Me and this person can professional do business in a private deal.
This employee only has a big problem, his boss doesn’t like us and therefore he can’t act the same way according POP as he did in this personal matter.
It’s like a Dutch expression: “Who’s bread you eat, who’s language you speak”.
2 Weeks later this employee sends out an email to League leaders (we didn’t get this email) asking to give him numbers of supposed attending league players, so he could order league supplies.
At the end of this email, he stated that his company is a Superpower in POP.
Duuuuuuh, yes of course call yourself a superpower based on what?
Tournament results were the actual TO running/planning/staffing the tournament is pressed to cancel the files. (see my topic 3A)
Based on number of tournaments and players?
Somebody asked us if we got this email. Nope, we didn’t and this person sends us a copy.
For us it’s clear, we are not getting any league materials, otherwise we should have been contacted about our number of players, because the LD doesn’t have a clue about that. They again don’t want to work with us.
Nothing changed, not after the meeting with Dave and Jarrod and not after I spoke to this employee.
It’s time to stop for us, we are no longer willing to be TO, we decline our TO status.
We will only play from now on, than nobody can call us obstructive, non co-operative, anymore………….
