My son started playing Pokemon in 2008 at Borderlands. Barbara was the Gym Leader and she ran league once a week and tournaments every other week.

We are going to be in Salem for a few days in Sept. We were hoping to join league or a tournament. I see this post about Sundays and Thursdays. I guess the Gym Leader has changed? And the nights have changed also.

Just checking.

I had checked the official Pokemon event page and we can't even find any leagues or events listed in Salem.

They also used to play at Wild Things in Salem. I cannot find that on the league list either. Unless I am doing something drastically wrong!

I'd love to get some insight on what changes have taken place in the last 2 years.

Just curious. Thanks!

^ Yes, Barbara was the Gym Leader there. A gal Named Mandy is the new League leader. As far as listing the league at Boarderlands on the official site, I got permission to post the information here on the Gym, and I will soon post the League info on the official site.

As for the days and times, Saturday used to be a league night but was switched to Sundays for the time being.

Wild things I can not speak for, although I know they had league there in the past, and since I have not been to the store in 4 years or so, I do not know any info about it.

I do not think there is a League Leader at Wild Things, I do believe the Wild Things store just had a night to come play the game, and was not realy a League. ( I could be wrong on that, but Borderlands has been the TO choice here in Salem to host events and has never held one at Wild Things.)

Too my understanding, Barbara has Set up a league closer to her home, and Mandy has stepped up to continue to keep the league going at Borderlands.

Mandy has brought in new ideas on how to make the league more of a community, and she has support from many league members to assist her as she "learns the ropes" and continues the league for everyone to come and have fun.

The newest thing being added to the league at Borderlands is the Nintendo DS games now have support for all who play the video games. Wether you play for fun or competativly, bring in your DS and a copy of choice and enjoy a battle or two.

If you have any other questions, I will answer them to the best I can.
Hope to see you there!
