Savannah's Texas State Championship Report

Back from Texas State Champs... What a weekend....

I left for Grand Prarie around noon.... All driving went smooth except it took me over an hour move 3 miles in Dallas.... Poopie. Checked in to my hotel, hit the sack early. Birch picked us up around 5:30 and we high-tailed it to Houston. In the car, we met the ever famous (or infamous) Johnny/Patriarch. Funny kid...

I think 19 played in the GBA tourney. Birch had said in the car that either Susan or I would take it, but all my money was on Clay winning... but in the end, my team won.... Swampert, Dusclops, Alakazam. I had been worrying about the Dusclops but in the end, he totally won it for me. Hahaha, an Oklahoman took the GBA Texas State Champion title. SWEET!

I played D. Ampharos with D. Crobat for States. So anyway, the actual battles...

Round 1 - Gardevoir/Bellossom/R. Mewtwo EX
I didn't have much trouble with this battle.. Gardy psyshadowed energy onto Mewtwo, while Bellossom healed... Ampharos knocked out Mewtwo pretty fast and Bellossom couldn't heal quite enough. A fun battle though.

Round 2 - Amphy/T-tar
With a fast pupitar and me with a whoppin' nothin', my opponent got ahead by 2 prizes (dunsparce, my poor little sacrificial lamb... or... snake/maggot/whatever dunsparce is....) Then I got out Crobat with a dark energy on it, played tricky gym... Opponent asked for a ruling on whether I could apply the darkness (I was attacking the active)... That wasted a lot of valuable time and the ruling ended up being wrong anyway, so that kinda irked me... So time was ticking away and my opponent was ahead.... I managed to turn it around though with pupitar's weakness to grass and crobat's crazy healing/poisoning/abuse of dark energies. A very nerve-wracking game.

Round 3 - Slaking/Magcargo
Opponent was having total energy crisis... Didn't get energies til I'd already taken 5 prizes. Sorry!

Round 4 - Amphy/T-tar/Pidgeot
Ahhh a battle with the champion. We shoulda made you walk home..

Round 5 - Zapdos/Electrode
Mannnnnnn, Zappy pwned me in top 8 at OKC City Champs. No different this time. Bleh.

Round 6 - Blaziken/Rayquaza/Pidgeot
One lone pidgey... Sorry.

Top 16 - D. Dragonite L
First game I only got Crobat so I wasn't doing anything but healing and poisoning til my opponent knocked me out.

Second game... I got ahead early because of Amphy's Darkest Impulse... those 2 counters really add up... but I ended up on the defensive... Opponent had 2 prizes and I had 1, so I struck and ran for a mareep.... Rare candy, amphy, energy, ATM rock, killed dragonair on the bench, last prize.

Third game.... I only remember I lost... ^_^;

My friend Susan ended up in Top 4 and Johnny took the chamionship... so "Team Birch" didn't do too shabby at all! I'm thrilled to have taken at least one of those trophies back to Oklahoma!

I had fun on my magical journey with Birch. Ya gotta hand it to him... He's awesome. Thanks so much for everything! :thumb:

Hey, you were that girl with that cool Spheel doll, right? Good job on making top 16, I think the person who knocked you out of the tournament was a close friend of mine who liked D Dragonite way too much. Then again, my memory is horrible and I could be mistaking you as someone else entirely. o.o;

Hey girl,

They would have given us a time extension if we needed it because of the ruling. I meant to tell you later after they corrected the ruling, I was glad it didn't cost you your win. At the point of ruling it didn't really matter either way. Next turn you turned it around and then never needed to use Tricky Gym again anyhow.

Good game, wished ya coulda helped us girls out in top 8 but then I left Susan on her own to fight the guys top 4.

Lynch Mob don't drive a Van but our Car was full of Top Cut's and in every Age group. :thumb:

The Eugia's all made top as well.
