Wow, sounds like Jimmer is giving us an open invitation to try to influence the people who will decide the next format.
Here's my vote towards E-on (with Legendary Collection, if possible, but not necessary. I love my Bills) and promos 41-52?
I want all the promos back - none were broken and FWIW & IMHO the "Chain" Eevee was the best ever for that evolution line. I think LC would be nice, but I think a LC2 would be better with select choice cuts of Pokemon from the Neo block and "best of" trainers from all sets.

If it's not eExpedition on then the e-reader's function will lessen and Nintendo will be losing money there anyway. Besides.. they are preaching 100% compatability with the older cards. They would not want to look greedy by making Modified R&S on.

My vote is for Expedition on. However, if that is the format, when are we going to start discussing rulings and stuff for the EX cards? It is really hard to justify running a tournament with the EX cards if you have to decide the rulings on the cards yourself. No matter what, someone will disagree with you. However if we have a rules document, we will not have that problem. So I guess I am ok with that format, if when it is released we can have some answers to questions we have on the cards.

Umm dont you think Nintendo loses out either way just because e-reader is not permitted in OP?

I would definitely vote for Expedition-On. I've been with this game like many of you since '99 and I personally see a lot of potential with this format compared to some of the others. Just look at the Pokemon available or should I say the lack of. No Feraligatr, No Crobat, No Steelix, No Kabutops, No Magcargo. The evolutions available in this format (like Exp. Tyranitar, the EX Pokemon and others)can be really fun to play with. Gone are the days when 1 or 2 decks (like Gatr) dominate the game scene. I can't wait if this eon format goes through to play this format!

Considering how much E-Card product we brought home from Origins and GenCon, I really hope it's Expedition on!

We're working one of the first of the R/S/ Challenges. We'll post what card rulings we've made and my reasonings behind them after the event, IF I can ever get a tournament report up. However, I will make a concerted effort to get this posted. If the other HJs for the Challenges can do the same, maybe we can get a master document started (that could be combined into the Compendium later) and have Nintendo bless it until we have the public forum that we had with WotC in the Weekly Rules Chats.

If you've got a myriad of judges at an event, just call a head shed and brainstorm it. It's not condusive to time, but the better ruling would take precedence IMO.

ExpOn

I think the new format will be like we presumed Wizards would make it soon, Expedition On. But I really hope it will include some reprints. If not an all-new LC2 with Neo reprints, then at least the original LC so random kids can play with some of their old cards. I wouldn't like to see the look on the face of our League (or BattleZone, whatever) kids whom I just told they have to drop every card that isn't E-card or upwards. :/

Chats would be good for that...I'm hoping to take rules questions that come up in e-mails, but I fear the other amounts of information that people try to sneak into those things. :)

A regular rules document would be fine and dandy - I don't know what format it'll be in yet, and how it'll be searchable.

My vote at this point would be for E-on starting with Expedition and ONLY the Best promos from WOTC, and all the R/S promos.

Nice to see MTJimmer in here as the early voice of NOA for us at this gym.....

cough ***NEED OP IN ST LOUIS*** COUGH....

Still have a great Pokebase here.

Would be odd to play without Magcargo, Crobat, Cleffa and Tyrogue!!!

But would be fun, we all lived without Oak, Sneasel and Slowking didn't we???

See you on the boards, or at one of my tourneys!!!

That's crazy talk, how could anyone save all those card ruilings and errata. You'd have to be like some sort of Compendium of official ruilings for the last three years from TPC and WotC to undertake a job like that ;)

Uh... Hi MTJimmer ;)
A good Modified format should be surely Expedition on. There'll be all the Card-e sets in, and I think sandstorm will have some reprints from Neos (some of those reprints which had to come in the LCII set). It will be interesting to see if they'll modify the card text as WoTC did with LC cards...
And we have a great Team Compendium... they have fun taking all rules from chats... Isn't it guys? ;) I'm looking forward to the NOA community & chats though...

The problem with the format is that the deck to beat would be easily scizor. I don't think there is much that can stand up to it.

My main concern

Personally, Im very afraid that there won't be any good tools (Gold Berry or Focus Band are gone), any kind of Gust of Wind or Double Gust, or enough mass draw or search, we lose Elm too! LC2 would be our only hope, most of us will be stuck using miscellaneous horrible cards as deck fillers if LC2 doesn't come out! SOmeone needs to warn them and tell them, our game will stink without tools, draw, and babies!

I'd go with Expedition-on without Legendary Collection. This way everything will be split in the Poke-POWER/Poke-BODY state. However, as some others have already said there should be some reprints (Double Gust, Gold Berry/Super Potion, amoung others.)

this is a very long shot but maybe they will inclued some of these trainers in the extra cards of ex-sandstorm   , well we can dream can't we :)

Mmmm. I think you need some of the LC Pokemon to balance out the EX guys. Include LC, at least until there is a big reprint set (not just 50 cards).

I was thinking that when WoTC was going to change the format to EON, but now there is holo Blaziken! I think the format may turn into Scizor vs. anti-Scizor(Blaziken). We'll have to wait and see.

Expedition-on, without LC and the Best Promos, makes the most sense to me. E-cards only.

This being the case, I expect to see Pokemon and their attacks/powers/bodies to increase in importance and trainers to be less important (although still very essential). Bench-sitting Pokemon strategies will see a boost without Double Gust in the Picture. Also, 2-on-2 strategies (if Nintendo sanctions that format) will have a BIG impact on how/what is played. JMO.
