Should League location standards be rewritten?

OK, we all know that Pokemon League locations have to be in a store that sells the cards, but has anyone seen some problems with this? I've noticed that most of the places that sell the cards don't have the room to host Leagues. I believe this is one of the reasons why the numbers of Leagues have been decreasing of late.

Personally, I'd let people that have the room play there, even if the store doesn't sell cards. Heck, why does it have to be a store? I run an unofficial League at my library and they buy more cards before I see them the next week.

But that is of course my opinion. You've read mine, now I want to read yours.

So therefore, my poll question is:

Should League location standards be rewritten to expand the amount and availability of leagues?

    I'll say yes.

About doing this though, isn't there a cleaner way to take a pool, like a pool counter?
I thought open pools like this were against the rules of the board *asks moderators*

Hmm, I might be mistaken, but I think that Leagues can be run in any public place.

Polls are against the Board Rules, but as long as people give reasons for their opinions, this will be OK. It is considered a discussion rather than a poll, as long as people don't start giving one or two word answers.

    And I wouldn't recommend holding a league at a pool. ;)

    right from the league kits...

Your league must be run in a clean, safe, public place. Game and Hobby stores, malls, schools, churches and community centers are all potentially excellent locations for league play. Make sure you have permission to use any facilities that you choose to use. The Pokémon League may not be run from a private residence.

hmm, I never heard about that part before. Thanx for showin it too me.

and sorry about the poll thing guys, I was looking to see if there was a special button or application for polls but I couldn't find one so I assumed it was OK.

Could a moderator PM me about how to put in a poll, or the rule about no polls so I don't screw up again. Thanx

*heh heh* A good way to make water attacks more animated.

a place with a successful league that doesn't sell pokemon may choose to consider selling it, so it would be a good idea to say you don't have to sell the cards to run a league.

Well obviously if you hold a league in a place that's not a store, you can't legally sell cards.

    Liabilty issue.

But, with WotC, TOURNEYS could be held anywhere *even in pools ;)* even private residences so long as they were open to ANYONE *advertised*

But leagues always had to be run at stores.

*need to go through the FLoor rules carefully now*

    What about private schools? heh

Yeah, I don't think they should have to be held in stores, especially since a lot less places SELL Pokemon cards nowadays, and places that don't sell the cards won't be too likely to let you run a league there..

They're fine as long as you don't live there.

Back in the day we had all the room we needed, because of Toys'R Us.Now we're all cramed in these little card shops. We have to get Toys'R Us back in the game.

Bah, I'd rather be in my roomy card shop than stuck in a corner of Books-A-Million like my old league was. :) That really sucked when you considered just how big the league was then. 20 was the bare minimum and we often got twice that.

    Ah hahaha, screwed then.
    Does boarding count as living? XD;

Toys R Us back in... I dunno, I never went to a league at Toys R Us. Was going to go to a league at Warner Bros in Braehead, then it shut down. And the one in London, then I moved.
Only ever been in a card store, and book store. Ah well.
