System of a down. Devil music?

go let her hear "Repeating Yesterday" by As I Lay Dying.
the song itself is all too heavy (not compared to their others at least),
but the guy screams and sounds like a ptyredactyle!

...If she REALLY wanted to call something "Devil Music", all it would take would be the band Dimmu Borgir, which is heavier then As I Lay Dying. However, I wouldn't recommend this.

I dont think many min stream bands are "satanic". Even Slipknot, whos logo is a pentagram, isn't satanic. Just my opinion though, think what you want to.

No mainstream bands are satanic. Mainstream bands by definition are "satanic" in veneer only, and are pretty much just in it for the money like every other big-name band. People who seriously believe that these bands are satanic are the same kinds of people who think professional wrestling is real.

Yeah, you're pretty much awesome. I was hoping to catch the Katatonia/Insomnium tour, but as usual, bands have a fear of the south. ; - ;

See you at NC/SC states! (hopefully, anyway.)

I missed it also, the south sucks for rock, but I did get a Katatonia hoodie when they popped up on their site.

Will be at both states this year!!! See ya there!!!

I believe that many bands use a satanic image to attract interest and listeners. Although they are not really satanic. Some songs that may sound satanic usually have deeper meanings that many people do not get. It is really mind~boggling to some artists that listeners can get the wrong message when the artist intended the OPPOSITE of what the listener heard. As said by Zangoose, you have to seperate Fact from Fiction and keep your mind strong.

I don't think it's right that anyone can call any music "Devil's Music". No music is "Devil's Music" unless the Devil says so. You can't make the Devil own a certain music, he has to want it to be his music. For all you know, the Devil could hate System of a Down, and be discusted with you calling it his music.

So, unless the Devil said it was his, it's not. Correct me if I'm wrong, but last time I checked, he has not claimed System of a Down as his music.

Oh, and by the way. I don't think the Devil plays guitar, he's more of a fiddle kind of guy. (In reference to the song: The Devil Went Down to Gorgia -by- The Charlie Daniels Band)

Why are most teenage Pokemon players aficionados of hard rock/heavy metal music?

Compensating for something?

Cuz they're to worried about being "COOL" in the High school's point of view.

Um... no. Did it ever cross your mind that maybe, just MAYBE they enjoy the music? That's why I listen to metal. I like the talent (John Petrucci, Mikael Akerfeldt, and Arjen Lucassen for examples) that a lot of the artists have, and the complexity (Necrophagist, Nile, and Ayreon for examples) that goes into the music. I could care less whether or not I'm "cool" or not.

And if you think people are compensating for something because of the music they listen to... then just wow. :nonono:

Or maybe, just maybe these teenage Pokemon players that listen to all the hard rock/Heavy Metal music happen to like it. Just a thought.

Trust me, that wouldn't look cool WHATSOEVER. If anyone tried that just to look cool, they wouldn't get far at all. The true way to look cool in High school (rather sad way of doing it too), is to be like everyone else and wear Hollister or Acrocombie & Fitch clothing with ripped jeans or baggy clothing with big T-shirts with rap artists on them.

I never said that was the only reason. But yes, some dumb people think it makes them cool.
I like rock and a little metal, but I don't think it makes me cool.

i sure as **** know you arent accusing me, or my good metal buddies supertyranitar and kabutops141 of compensating for something because we LOVE our Metal.
thats stupid.

and as for you toxictaipan, i can promise you that i do not listen to Metal because i want to be "cool".
i already am cool, i am AWESOME.
if i was going to do something just to make me cool, i would do as said above me by Shadow Zangoose (I love John Petrucci BTW), wear holister and ambercrombie and fitch, pink or stripped shirts. among many-a other thing.
i prolly would be rockin' my long hair either.

Dude, people, chill out, I was only saying. People will listen to a type of music or say they like something they don't, just to fit in with the cool or "popular" kid/s. I never accused anyone here of liking metal just to fit in. I like metal and I am far from caring what people think about me.

Sorry for the miscommunication,

toxictaipan

Here is part of an interview with the mastermind behind my favorite band:

This is Joe Del Tufo from Studio M and I'm speaking with Steven Wilson from Porcupine Tree.

Joe Del Tufo: In Absentia is a decidedly harder direction than your previous work; what was the original impetus for the harder direction?

Steven Wilson: In this case the big change for me, in terms of musical influence, is that I discovered the whole kind of, uh, metal underground scene: a scene that I didn't know really existed until then. I kinda, like a lot of people I guess, I dismissed metal music as rather juvenile adolescent music that you kinda grow out of and I found that wasn't the case at all and actually there's some really serious experimental music going on. To some extent, a lot of the really ambitious musicians, gifted musicians are working in the metal scene. So, it really came home to me around about the end of 2000, beginning of 2001 when I was writing In Absentia, and I was discovering this music and also meeting up with bands like Opeth was, you know, a big influence as well. And naturally it began to creep into my writing: the heavier, riff-based, more guitar orientated sound, just very naturally kinda began to come out in my own, my own writing. I guess it became absorbed, it became a part of my musical personality.

btw he is 40 and is considered one of the worlds greatest guitar players.

When I was a young teen myself my parents just hated when I would play Motley Crue and then my little brother who was three started going "Shout Shout Shout At The Devil" And of course my little sister had her share of problem with our parents since she liked stuff like Madonna's Like A Virgin and saying stuff like "Gag me with a spoon" and other valley girl sayings.
As for today I still listen to the music that I that I liked in my teen years along with 90's metal, country, alternative, and as far as rap goes there are only two things I will ever listen to 1: Anthrax - I'm The Man 2. MC Hammer- U Can't Touch This

Cuz they're to worried about being "COOL" in the High school's point of view.

I'm sorry, but I'm also going to have to disagree with your post. We listen to this kind of music because we LIKE it. I spend money on this kind of music and don't you think I would buy other things if I didn't like it I would spend my $ on somethin' else? If your just going to listen to metal to be 'cool', then youre not that cool. I agree that some people may do this, but I just want to say that not all people that listen to it do it to be cool. I personally love metal, death metal, some black metal, hard rock, and rock. I DO NOT listen to it just to be cool. My friends don't like pokemon & they don't know about me playing either, yet I still listen to this genre. Therefore, I agree that some may listen to metal to be 'cool', but some also like it.:thumb:
