Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

The upcoming "Kingdra Meta"

Funny thing is, MANY decks can beat this, i personally have one called T2 DOOM, which can beat kingdra T2, lashing out 100 damage per turn. Kingdra IS OVERRATED

Houndoom can't even use it's second attatck T2(If that's what you consider after the player who starts the game)!

Kingdra one-shots it.

AMU, we don't even want to go there.

:lol::lol::lol:

Why couldn't Houndoom use it's attack second turn?
Turn 1. Attach an energy
Turn 2. Attach an energy then attack for 100.
Assuming your opponent decides to play a bench you hit them for 100, and if not, you hit them for 60 which would probably be a donk.

Just to tell you most people consider T2 the players second turn. Not the second turn of the game.

i know what you are saying but the 1 deck i think stands a chance besides lighting but the scepleaf deck i mean i have not even lost 2 magmotor lv x

Kingdra is going to be a great DONK deck and also Politoed/PoliWrath. For 1 Energy, you do 60. and Politoed lets you add on damage.

If I may be so bold to fire off a prediction at what's going to be Tier 1, these decks are my bets:
- Kingdra varieties (Variety mainly being in Techs or Setup vs Rush)
- Vileplume/Bellossom (Although the stability of the build is questionable)
- Magnezone varieties (Metagross is not to be underestimated as a Magnezone partner)
- Eeveelutions varieties (By virtue of Leafeon's energy attachment)
- Empoleon (His spread is still evil)
- Infernape (The number of Infernape decks will be determined by the ratio Water vs. Grass)
- Ninjas (Although questionable due to their low HP, their tricks certainly seem annoying, Shedinja in particular)
- Gliscor builds (Mind that Para/Burn/Poison cycle)
- Skittles varieties (By virtue of Togekiss)
- AMU (Because otherwise DarthPika will hit me)

Thats just my guess.

You sure are bold.

You do know that Tier 1 is best of the best? Empoleon will probably be Tier 1, and maybe even Skittles, but Vileplume/Bellossom? Ninjas? Gliscor is an interesting card, but I don't see it being Tier 2 even.

Why even make a list of Tier decks? Half the cards aren't even out in english yet, and none of them have seen Premier Tournament play in the USA yet. You can't form a Tier list without tournament experience regardless of how good your play-testing at home is.

It can be more than tier 1 deck in a format, only not this format since Gardilade just is played in such vast numbers. Next format who knows,I know certainly in 06-07 format,it was more than one Tier 1 deck.

I originally had in my post, "there hasn't been a format with more than 5 tier 1 decks". I took that out before I posted. I didn't mean to make it seem like there would be only 1 Tier 1 deck, but that the Tier 1 decks were the best of the best decks, so "interesting" combos with Vileplume/Bellossom would never be Tier 1.

Are you kidding Bellossom/vilpume is so good. It has the ability to do amazing damage while inflicting conditions.

Okay. How many tournaments has it won? NONE, because the cards aren't even out yet. I have no problem with people coming up with ideas to use against Kingdra. I have no problem with people testing out japanese decks at their house, or even talking about them (with no experience usually), but I have a problem with people making statements about the upcoming format before the actual format even begins. Nobody knows how a deck will do next format. All we have are our opinions.

I don't even know what Vileplume/Bellossom do, but you know what? That makes me no different than the person claiming it's all that (nobody particular) and also has no experience with the card.

I believe magmortar could still suffice against kingdra, given kingdra 2hko's mag while mag 1-2hko's kingdra.(sniping damage goes away w/ body)

Kingdra could always run Lake Boundary and OHKO Magmortar for a single water energy using it's second attack (or plus power against Magmortar lv.X).

I think the problem here is people are still locked into GG/plox mode. As in this format it was pretty much GG vs everything. Now it's going back to the way it should be with a handful of great decks, and then a big spread of good decks that can compete. It was a lot easier when you could just make a plox and then tech in a few cards for yourself or make a pure counter and expect to face tons of of GG at a tourney.

Of course you can pick apart a card and make pure counters to it all day, but how well will those decks do in a tournament against non Kingdra decks.

And despite all the arguing, Kingdra is a good card. I've had a Kingdra deck proxied up for about 2 months now and it's extremely fast and consistent, plus it swarms extremely well.

Y'know Kingdra won a japanese BR.

That's like a Regional here.

It has to be that good.

Magmortar will be a Tier3 deck.

No question.

Why? Empo and Kingdra are tier 1.

And I think that TurnCruel crap will be Tier 2.

Empoleon can just out spread it, since you are not discarding any energy.

Empoleon won't be Tier 1. And TurnCruel outspreads empoleon t2..

Why would a kingdra player use lb when they could put in things to help a less favorable matchup? And beside mags could play stark mountain or bubble coat.

So long as AMU is threatening, anything even remotely considering stage 2 dies instantly. Empoleon won't stay on top over here. Of course, this is assuming anyone can make a good, consistent build of AMU since there are plenty of consistency problems with the deck.

And beside mags could play stark mountain or bubble coat.

All of this Bubble Coat talk is unnerving. People are assuming that it is the answer to a weakness problem, when Castaway isn't going to be in format and it won't be all happy fun time to get the bloody card, plus its so situational its not even funny, not only that, but it also is a one trick pony, popping after an attack goes through, so you still die to the entire rest of the deck.

Why play it? Seriously, to even make the tool worth playing, you'd need to play 4 of them, which is a useless card against any deck you're not weak to, which is not something I would like to Top Deck, plus unless you're running Felicities or Claydol (Not everyone plays Claydol believe it or not), you'd never even be able to get it, adding to the possibility with Claydol that you'll just top deck it again when you DON'T need it, to decks that weak you, its merely a pest that your opponent can still attack around that buys you like.. one turn before they run over your deck with a steamroller.

Unless you can find a solid way to get this card, other than Lapras, its not even a suitable decision and I'm sick of people assuming its an answer because its more hindering than anything.

Admit it. Magmortar has a bad matchup vs. Kingdra.

Kingdra is swarmable, Mortar is not.

I say 75-35 in Kingdra's favor no matter if you play bubble coat.
