I hate emails like this. Normal SPAM has the option to unsubscribe. But crap like this... Some moron out there wants me to SPAM someone else, or something like that (Evident in the fact that right clicking name>Properties says it's from a different address than the one provided).

Then again, maybe I should be thankful I get as little SPAM as I do.

Ah, the old Nigerian Scam. There are quite a few of them, I've been sent a couple different variations but its all the same in the end. I forwarded the email I got to www.snopes.com where they wrote an article about the scams.

I've gotten a few of those, too, though not all were from Nigeria.

I've received 2 emails recently, here's the one i have available right now from one of my personal email addresses:

I was very surprised to see that it was for $38,100,000 but looks like yours beats my amount. I'll post the other one tomorrow at work.

So actual SPAM is allowed on the board, eh? ;)

Seriously, just a tip (for those who don't already know)... when junk e-mail has an "Unsubscribe" feature, never, ever, ever "unsubscribe". By replying that you want taken off of their mailing list, they are not likely to remove you and you've just let that company (and everyone they sell e-mail addresses to) know that your e-mail account is active....

Heh, BUT, you KNOW they don't hand-type all the addresses into the emails. They just put your address on a list and never take you off. I highly doubt they comb through them and pick out the ones that respond. Then again, there are many warped people out there.

*wishes they'd make a variant of the "No Calls" list, but for the internet. That would be awesome...*

Arrgh... I shudder to think how long that person stayed up typing that, sitting in his parents' basement...

But SPAM messages like that are too long and bothering to keep me interested, I just delete them. What REALLY burns me are the short and to the point SPAM messages that try to play on my emotions, like the "My mom was injured because of what happened on 9/11 and the Red Cross will pay us a dime each time this message gets forwarded" crap.

Or, they could be honest and actaully unsubscribe you.

If I get email I don't want and can find an unsubscribing method, I use it, and I can't seem to recall any examples of it not working.

They could, but I wouldn't count on it. I mean, after all, these people - who peddle products like porn, cable TV descramblers, products that claim to enlarge various parts of one's body and claim to improve various aspects of one's performances and, of course, the scams like the one you posted - these people don't seem much like the "honest" type to me...

There's a great little newsletter over at www.TourBus.com that covers this and other various SPAM/Viruii/Urban Legend internet myths all the time. I highly reccomend signing up for this newsletter. Also, Check out Snopes.com for other various Internet Urban Legend myths...

Or you could click on the unsubscribe link and get that "website cannot be found" error. Or if it's one where you have to send an e-mail with Unsubscribe in the subject, that mailbox could just be "full" at the time.
