ust to start out, my name is Andy Kay and this was my first year in Masters. I had a better run than I thought I would, top 16'd New England regionals, topped most of the City's I attended, 9th at States. I was pumped for the HGSS-On rotation as soon as the potential rotation was announced. I tested around w/ Samurott/Donphan, kinda discarded it, moved onto Magneboar but it felt atrocious in my hands. Moved onto LostGar went 27-5 in timed games, then I proceeded to lose 12 straight games to Yanmega variants. I scrapped the deck on the day before Nats, Dylan Lefavour happens to walk by me, I talk to him, told him I didn't know what to play told him I wanted to play a Yanmega variant. He pulls out a pen and paper and starts writing down his list for me. I thank him, and I start trading for Yanmega's. Ended up with 7 lmao. So I start throwing together the list, borrowed the Kingdra's and the Blissey. Socialized a little bit with friends from the New England area. Onto the next day, i'm in the Blue Flight the harder one imo. I sit by a Mexican version of me. lmao, pretty cool guy talked how old school yugioh was better than the bull it is currently(GoatControl nostalgia stuff like that). I make a last minute switch from a reversal to a switch so I wouldn't auto-lose to a reversal up my chansey. Anyway onto the report.

Round 1 vs Louis Thompson(He had a worlds bag from 2005, so I thought he was a veteran)

After a /long/ wait, we start I go first find out he's playing magneboar. Starts w/ Tepig and a Cleffa benched vs my Yanma and Horsea benched I wanna say. I get a t1 collector and a turn 2 yanmega snipe w/ Kingdra and a seadra too strong imo. He can't do much and eek's a bunch of times and I just roll through him sniping his Mangmites and such.
1-0

Round 2 vs ???(Cool guy though gave me a hug by the end of day one, from Texas said he knew Kettler well so I had to assume he was good)

Turns out to be a mirror match, he starts out w/ Jirachi to my Yanma and cleffa I wanna say. He goes first and collectors grabs yanma yanma horsea(Idk though really foggy). Pass. I collector and I wanna say I eeked, though not 100% sure. I drew well, but he judges me and snipes hard. I eventually do set up, bring myself down to 2 prizes but he pulls ahead with Jirachi. Nice guy, it was cool to be sitting at table 6 too.
1-1

Round 3 vs Someone asian forget the name, playing T-Tar Mandibuzz Zoruark

I start off decently, but he goes first and power claws through Cleffa turn 2 or 3. I can't seem to draw into much, and I just drop judge, hoping to draw into more playable cards. I hit two Yanmega evolve both, thinking I can draw into CopyCat or another judge 4 turns pass and I just can't topdeck a thing. He megaton tails my Kingdras whenever I /can/ attack with it. He wins, but he wanted help with his build of KingMega asking how I fit in Rescue and blissey etc etc. I played 3 mirror matches in between round and get a better hang of the deck.

Round 4 vs Aaron Curry w/ Yanmega/Zone

So, as I look at the pairings my heart sanked I knew I had to win out but my opponent was curry. He turned out to be having a bad day, losing to a bunch of ********. I started I think, and he opened garbage. I sniped for Prizes and he couldn't set up. He had to thundershock with a Mangemite to stay in the game. Flipped heads he ko'd me the following turn, I just sweeped afterwards couldn't much else after that. GG Sorry about you not drawing so well :\

2-2

Round 5 vs Adrian Montoya(PokeMontoya on HT)

Pretty cool guy, I introduced myself as Zangoose, he points to my mat and says that's not a Zangooose! I laughed and we set up. Turns out his Son's in the VGC, so if he loses he said he might drop. Turns out to be playing Donphan/Dragons. He goes first and sets up with a collector for phanpy phanpy and a Reshiram. I get set up and do what Mega does to Donphan, snipes basics. He drops Runis of alph and starts doing damage w/ Donphan eventually one shotting me w/ 2 pluspower twice I think. Classy, down to the wire game, but I think I jirachi'd for game. GG

3-2

Round 6 vs This guy w/ extremely bright cheeks(almost as if he was high lmao) playing MegaJudge.

I start lone cleffa look extremely anxious, but I win the flip and have collector in hand, I find out he had the donk. I set up as does he. I think I take the first prize but then he starts Mangezone'ing hard. He played 2 pachi and one shotted me a bunch of times but Rescue worked beautifully. He miscalculates energy if I recall correctly, and could never draw into the switch to get Zone out of the active when needed. I eventually just snipe for the game. GG man

4-2

Day 2 starts, and I'm up against this guy playing Cincinno/Weavile.

Round 7 vs Guy w/ CincinnoWeavile

He never seemed to get anything going and all of his DCE's were either Clumped or prized. He had to Eeek literally 7 times in order to stay in the game. I was busy picking off Mincinno's and such. I essentailly just plow GG

5-2

Round 8 Vs Alec Noah(SnowGlobes on HT) w/ Yanmega Zoruark

Really cool guy, sorry about the coin man just have an awful history with such coins. Sorry if you thought I was being a stickler. I go first I think and set up, I snipe pretty hard. He eventually double pluspowers for a ko with a foul play with 2 Sp Dark on my Yanmega. I laughed pretty hard, but I eventually just jirachi for game. GG hope to see you next year

Round 9 vs a Texan w/ LostGar w/ Mime Jr and Slowking

We start me w/ Cleffa him w/ Gastly but no way to donk me. I get a t3 ko on haunter via Reversal. He gets a fast Slowking w/ Mime and preceeds to LZ. Everytime he'd Slowking lock me to dead draws I'd always have a Copycat. He gets 5 in the lostzone, and I have a prize left, and he needs another turn so I win the Game via a snipe w/ Kingdra.

7-2

7-2 was such an accomplishment for me, it wasn't even funny. I would love to see myself advance in TC but I was fine w/ 7-2.

Top 128 Vs Bryan Reandeau w/ Donphan/Dragons

Match one: I get set up and eventually win through Jirachi w/ some strategic Spray splashing.
Game 2: He turn 2's my lone Jirachi start w/ Donphan.
Round 3: Much more nitty gritty, we come close then a judge notices a card on the ground of his. I was sure it was there since game one, seeing as how he didn't play a DualBall round 2. The judge writes it off as it was there since game 2 during shuffle time, but w/e. I was still in the lead he shuffles the card in and I drop judge. I do 60 to active donphan(W/ Spraysplash), and then time is called sometime in the next few turns. He gets a reversal heads right after time is called and takes a ko on Kingdra, I do stuff and I get the last turn of time. I have to stall with Tyrogue to stay in the game, hit tails to stay asleep, and pass. He topdecks a Junk Arm for Reversal heads for game. I had the Yanmega snipe for game next turn. :\ GG
