The Caption's ways are very jerkish. Espescially the first one. I always try to make my trades as fair as possible, but always a little on my side:p.

Your hero is a complete jerk.

Just a follower of social darwinism. I mean feel free to judge me all you want, but in the end i'll have all the cards. And thats what makes me happy so i don't loose any sleep over ripping off little kids. Heck in fact it makes me sleep better knowing that i can build any deck i want without spending money. And PokeMom looking at my post you know that i wouldn't risk big rips in a store like yours with people who acctually care around. If i do see your nOObs anywhere else however i won't hesitate to bleed them dry.

If i had kids and they got ripped i would certainly be angry. But the fact of the matter is that i don't so IDC one bit.

I may be "jerkish" online but if you met me in real life you would never know my intentions, i follow my own rules.

There are lots of people i know how don't hesitate to rip even on this site they just don't want to b e lables as a ripper don't think i'm the only one

this is why all trades done during league hours go through me first for approval...

'mom

Honestly the best approach if you have time.

OMG at my store its like the opposite. nOObs have some gold among their junk. I'll give them a bronzong or something for a TSD. I remember last format i gave like 2 celios for 3 AH Transievers when they were going for like $20 each, also gave like $10 for like 8 Mod ex's and a crapload of good rares and AH's, also why i bring lots of commons and uncommons to league. I got banned from trading for a while because i made a little kid cry when i wouldn't trade back, it was soooo funny. So to answer your question no noobs are still worth trading with. Anyone you can manipulate is worth trading with and little noobs are by far the easiest.

Here's some strategies i use.

Play1: standard double team
Traget Card(s): Anything
Speed: Medium, you need to give them a bit of time to think about it, in this situation it makes it seem better.
People required: 2-3 three is better but don't be to over the top.

Me: Your Mew* can only do a little bit of damage and has low HP. My Ryperiors has DOUBLE his HP.
Kid: I'm not sure mews still pretty good.
Me: Ryperior is better trust me i've won like a ten tourneys this year in know whats good.
My Freind: You're actually trading Rhyperior hes so broken.
Me: Yea idk i want the mew* for this junky deck i'm testing out.
My Freind: Still, hes soo good
Me: So will you do the trade.
Kid: Idk i guess
Me: Ok thanks

Play2: More and More
Target Card: Something high end.
Speed: fast, easy to realize its a bad trade just keep throwingthings on untill they say yes.
People: 1-2 i like to mix this one with the double team but it works solo too.

Me: I heard you need a salamance, i need your gardevoir lv x. wanna trade
Kid: IDK thats not really fair is it?
Me: of course not i would throw in some stuff
Kid: like what?
Me: Well you need bagons and shelgons right how about i give you three of those and another rare from my book.
Kid: Um
Me: and i'll throw in 2 bucks.
Kid: alrighti guess i'll do that
Me: Thanks kid your really helping me out.

Play3: More and More reversal
Target: Many mid-low end cards
Speed: Slow at first when you offer a good deal for the first card, then go supper fast.
People: 1, you need him to only be concentrated on you.

Me: hey i'll give you a galade for you gardevoir
Him: Ok
Me: wait a sec i'm not sure galade is a bit better how about throwing in that toros
Him': sure
Me: well i need a few trainers too they're not worth much how about you throw in 2 celios and 2 rosannes
Him: um i guess since they're only trainers
Me: K thanks how abuout 4 Basic darks just to be nice
Him: Ok

Play 4: Call it out
Cards aquired: One or more high end cards
Speed: medium
People:1
Assume x noob needs x card

Me: Hey i have a lucario lv x for trade anybody need one
Kid. Ooo i do i'll give you anything
Me: Well i like your cresselia and gardevoir lv X how about both for one.
Kid: Thats not really fair
Me: well this is the only way your going to get one and its really good and really rare i'm probably just going to keep it.
Kid: ...
Me: yeah i'll just keep it then
kid: wait can you throw in something
Me: i guess something small, how about a reg lucario and AH Riolu
Kid: fine

There are a few more but really those are he main ones got me like $600 in cards this past year.

Also on a side note let them make thew first offer if possible. And if they ever need a common/uncommon/bad rare give it to them it makes trading easier in the future if they trust you. Because the people you trust can control you the most.

Also avoid kids with parents there unless the parents were clueless.( one time a parent more or less forced his kid to trade his latias* for some junk of mine even tho the kids didn't want to).
Also it helps to actually be good at the game that earns you the nOObs respect.

Also feel free to use price guides like beckett they are useually wrong in your favor.

Also don't linger, gat in, make the trade and get out don't brag about it untill said kid leaves.

Show off your book often even if you don't need anything at the time when the kid gets something then they'll come to you.

Stock up on new set cards right away kids love gwetting new stuff.

Stand up for your right even against a league leader. If you get called out on a rip act like your right and they're wrong, it might not help with the LL but your prey won't get the wrong idea.

Know the people at your league there are always some nasty people who will ruin your trades learn how to work around them.

On ocasion feel free to make fair trades to make the kids happy. They may get ahead in the short run but in the long run you'll own everything they have.

Always act gracious and polite when not playing a part in a trade put up a good image.

AND MOST IMPORTANTLY don't let the allure of a good card cloud your judgement, don't do something stupid that would get you in trouble and halt future trades.

Well those are my tips.

Right now I'm wondering how long of a ban I will recieve if I told you what I really thought. And right now it almost seems worth it.

For me personally I usually give them a little more than what it is worth. I know they will have never have the cards to do a Gardevoir deck so I will see what kind of deck they have, oh so you have a grass deck about your Gardevoir for my 2 Tangrowth and some more grass rares. I'm ahead if you look at playability but there ahead in price value I'm really helping them improve there deck and strengthen there lines I will usually even help them work it into their deck.

And Kristen this really isn't an insult to you but what did you expect like you said all you had were holo's and you knew the Eevee was 2 cents all you did was let the kid look at your book knowing you would tell him no on anything he wanted.

We all have to remember its these little kids "noobs" that support this game I bet you on average little kids buy more pack than most of us. Just my 2 cents

PM then, tell me what you think. I'll say what i think of you. nOObs do support the game they get cards for good players this is their purpose for me. They buy cards i take them they buy more cards everyone wins. . .

Part of me agrees with the captain. Kids NEED to learn that their cards are worth something. I don't think what 'mom is doing is entirely appropriate, as these kids should learn this lesson. However, this game is all about fun. I don't find it fun to be ripped off. Pokemon is not a place to be learning life lessons the hard way.

The Captain's methods listed make me ill. Ripping off children is neither funny, nor is it in the spirit of the game. Spirit of the Game applies at all times when playing Pokemon. If a kid has a good card you want, be fair and treat them like a human being.

'mom, I don't think your method is entirely necessary either, but I can definitely see it being better than the alternative with the captain here.

Every response the Captain makes.......is making my blood boil more and more.
It makes me glad to see that you aren't a professor at this point. I think I can speak for most of us when we say we wouldn't want someone like you in our ranks.

I agree that kids should know that they have cards that are worth something. But what about the ones that just started? They haven't been into the game long enough to learn values of cards. And ripping them like you are.....is far from the Spirit of the Game that we are supposed to follow. If I did what you do to every new kid that came to our league....the whole league would be bled dry. But no. Instead, we help them get decks built with the cards they have, and we often toss in some of our own. We look out for the players at our league, and we help each other out when we can.

By doing this, we get the cards we need. Because some kid will remember that we helped him build a deck when he first showed up, and he realizes that we're one card shy of building the deck we want to run. That's what's fair, and that's what makes people come back to our league. Because of how they are treated.

At tournaments, it's the same way. If I'm judging and I do a deck check and a kid has cards they can't use, I'll pull them and off to the side and help them build a deck. Even if it means giving them some of my cards. I don't mind it at all. Parents appreciate what I do for the game. I didn't realize it at all, but I have a few kids that go to tournaments that get really excited when they find out I'm judging their division. That's what makes it worthwhile. It's not worth tearing things apart over cardboard.

I simply ask what they would want for the card I want. Found most ppl will through in a Gardevoir or such card. I do try to make the trade fair though and not compleatly rip someone. (i do like it thought if its somewhat in my favor though lol)

The best trade is at nats when someone NEEDS a card for their deck (lets say a ralts, cuz almost no one brings their comons for trade) and you can get somthing like a 2t 2 rare. lol ( i wouldnt do this to a junior or senior, just a despret master. )

I am thankful for...

The Captain being in Minnesota

I have friends in Minnesota, so I know that the Captain is not indicative of all of the players in the area.

The league leader should take this guy and well...

I like my professorship, but a trader like this, if reported, would not last long and any of MY leagues.

I was tempted to lock this thread, but is it better to expose the Captain for who he is, than have us not know about him.

Reading this, how many people want to trade with him in the trading forums?

Vince

Well, the Captain's way is certainly not the way we run things in Ohio or at least not if I or the other LLs/Profs see it. We don't go quite as far as 'Mom and require trades to go through us but our eyes and ears are open especially around little ones and we make sure that things are fair or balanced in the kid's favor. We often just give cards away to young players - yeah, they are usually commons and uncommons but still getting a card that you wanted for free is awesome. And I've sometimes traded something (fairly) even when I didn't really need a trade because a little one is soooo excited about finding a card to be cherished. Even outside of league, I try to give parents and new players the general guideline of a rare for a rare, an uncommon for an uncommon, etc. and show them the symbols. As stated, part of our responsibility as professors is to make the game fun and fair. And beyond that part of our responsibility as civilized human beings is to treat others as we would like to be treated. I know that is an ideal world but I'm willing to do my little part for that.

Exposing me? How foolish i'm clearly the one exposing my self don't think that your doing anything. And all of you who say that their aren't people like me your dead wrong you just don't know that they are doing it. And no one can do anything to me. Thats why i'm keeping this going now. Hopefully some people take my advice. But to all those who don't i relish in the fact that it "makes your blood boil" because people like you are the ones that tend to ruin it for people like me. So let your blood boil untill it reaches its breaking point, knowing that i'll keep doing this and just know that theres nothing you can do about it. so smile and know that this saturday some noob will get ripped by me. And know that i'll go on to win my local tourny and all those same kids will look up to me.

So what should my legue leader showld do what with me: beat me senseless, steal my cards, ban me from one of the many stores in my area. Yea what would that do to me

And 'pop' feel free too give my that title i'd actually want it.

No i want to know. I'll be at nats for sure my whole rippin' crew will be. I dare you. I'll send you a picture of us if you want. If you want i'll send you a pic of the kids i rip and my collection as it is too so your have something to get you going. Just name the time and place. Lol i hope you have kids so i can rip them too. Like i said i'm untouchable. And even if i'm not there will always be another ripper like me, but maybe not as skilled as me.

Heck if you want to play for cards i'll rip you apart anyday.

*ahem* Your sentence structure needs work. You cannot start a sentence with the word 'and'. Also, the word 'too' is meant to be used in the form of 'to' in the context you use it in. There should be one singular comma after the word 'title', to pause one thought and start another mid-sentence. The pronoun contraction of 'I would', is not properly capitalized, and should be read, 'I'd'.

Also, here is a reference to your thought process from the pen of one of it's (Social Darwinism) most fervent Philosopher's (philosopher meaning- as Webster's new edition dictates, "a person who offers views or theories on profound questions in ethics, metaphysics, logic, and other related fields"). The man who I am about to quote, went by the name of Friedrich Nietzsche, and he wrote on Darwin's theories:

"Wherever progress is to ensue, deviating natures are of greatest importance. Every progress of the whole must be preceded by a partial weakening. The strongest natures retain the type, the weaker ones help to advance it.
Something similar also happens in the individual. There is rarely a degeneration, a truncation, or even a vice or any physical or moral loss without an advantage somewhere else. In a warlike and restless clan, for example, the sicklier man may have occasion to be alone, and may therefore become quieter and wiser; the one-eyed man will have one eye the stronger; the blind man will see deeper inwardly, and certainly hear better. To this extent, the famous theory of the survival of the fittest does not seem to me to be the only viewpoint from which to explain the progress of strengthening of a man or of a race."

The question in your own mind may be, "Does he think I'm wrong or not?", and my answer is a simple, 'No'. I do not find you anymore worthy of conviction than anyone else who has lived in and reveled in their own sins ('sins' being what the general populous deems as wrong or immoral). After all, Hitler, Stalin, Caligula- they all thought that they were doing what was best for themselves and their countryman. Though, each of them suffered from highly self influential mentally dehabilitating diseases.

Frankly, you aren't worth my time. I'd prefer to associate myself with people a little higher up than you. One day, karma will get back at you. And then you'll realize just how "untouchable" you really are.

Oh yeah....one other thing.

Become an adult first, and then we'll talk. I'd rather not deal with kids like you.

you want to know why your correcting my sentence structure because you have nothing else on me. You may say i'm like hitler and in a way i guess your right but. But they were some of the most powerful people to ever live their names will forever be engraved in this world so thanks for your comparison. As long as i'm happy it doesn't even matter whaT YOU ALL SAY.

OK, not that this was a good topic to start with, but it's gone into bickering, so locked.
