as the topic title say's i am trying to start a league in my home town lewiston ID. and would like a little info from some league leaders as to what will be needed.

as far as a host i was thinking of trying the Public Library.
what day/time do most of you run your leagues? i was going to try fridays around 4pm-6pm.
do i need to deal with a PTO at all?
anyinfo you have would be helpful.

yo sign up on Go-pokemon and they ship the stuff to u
we ran ares saterday or sun
no i dont think u have to contact pto unless they changed it

Make sure you set as much up with the library beforehand. You might find some restrictions on your using the facilities there that you never anticipated before starting. Scout your location before going to PCI. Some aggressive behavior is acceptable when setting up something new, but you must also understand when to be conservative and let the process handle itself.

thanks for the info. but what is a PCI?

the Pokemon Company, International. I like the acronym PCI better than TPCi, easier to type.

ah thank you very much.
are they hard to deal with? i have never run a league or card events before but i have been playing for about 10 years.

The public library can be a good resource, but if at all possible, I'd recommend holding your league in a gaming store. I run my league in a store and it's the best way to go, IMO. There can be some issues, especially if your vision and the store's don't match, but that can be a problem with any venue.

I would recommend running your league mid-day on a weekend, just so you can attract the young league go-ers who's parents might not be down to let them play on a Friday evening. Also, Magic: The Gathering runs their hobby leagues on Friday night, so that might not be the best way to go. I've seen successful leagues run on all days at all times though, so it can definitely work. Personally, I run my league from12:00 PM - 6:00 PM on Sundays.

You don't have to deal with a PTO in order to run a league, but it's definitely a good idea to get acquainted with your local PTOs and such, just so you can be apart of the local OP.

Good luck!

POP/TPCI, etc. is not hard to work with at all. Essentially, once you find yourself a suitable venue and get everything worked out as far as scheduling, etc. You'll apply to be an official league, if approved, you'll be sent materials based on how many players you report for that each season (reporting is very easy, simple data entry), and that's really the jist of it.

One important tip I would give, from experience, is to BE ORGANIZED. Make sure your league supplies are never messy, and are always put where they belong, and make sure that you keep records of POP iID forms, and who attended what league, etc., etc. There's nothing more important than keeping everything organized.

you all have been very helpful thank you
i would love to be set up in a card shop but there is no real one in my town. the library is my best bet for now. if that does not work out i wil ltry the hastings but i do not have much hope of that happing.
also what would i do with left over supplies or if i run out mid-season? i am sure all that is some were on the site but i find it best to ask someone who knows what there doing.

you all have been very helpful thank you

If you have left over supplies, you can use them for new players who join in the later seasons but want to go back and get prizes from past seasons.

If you run out of supplies, there are times when you can contact POP and they may be able to accommodate you. The most important thing to remember so as not to run out of supplies is to get your players to sign up for My Pokemon accounts, in addition to POP IDs, but you'll learn about that later.

Good luck!
