Turmoil About Rulings

I was wondering if anyone else had the same problem I'm having at the league I run. We recently gained a new group of players, but one of the newcomers totally refused to believe my rulings on cards like Celio's Network. I tried to explain it to him and showed him the Compendium, but decided that since the document I was showing him was not on any official pokemon websites, the rulings were not official. I explained to him that all the rulings were from people who work for, and volunteers, of PUI and such.

Still nothing. His first excursion at our league left a bad impression, but he has not been as disruptive since. He tried to tell me that Delcatty EX does not fetch back special energy with Upstream, which to my knowledge, is incorrect. He also said that sets like Crystal Guardians and Holon Phantoms were not going to be legal at Worlds '08. I know that this is not the case as well.

I just don't get it. If he was 14 or 15, maybe I could understand his need to feel right, but he's at least 18. Anyone have any thoughts?

Probably have him contact OP through the OP website. Have him ask them if TC *lists* the "official" rulings for the Pokemon TCG. Everybody knows that TC and the Gym are completely unofficial. However, the lists that they keep (I believe) ARE official.

Or, you could just show him this particular passage at the top of TC:

Compendium LvX said:
The Compendium is a compilation of Official Rulings on the Pokémon Trading Card Game as presented by Pokémon USA, Incorporated (PUI). Only official sources are located here, which, so far, includes the online documents published via the Pokémon TCG website (http://www.go-pokemon.com/ ) and also the Pokémon Rules Team Discussions. This compilation was designed to facilitate rulings at Pokémon tournaments. There may not be an official Judge Accreditation procedure, but there are a surprisingly large amount of rulings and errata that a Judge should be aware of!

...

Q. Will PUI endorse the Compendium as a ruling source for Players, League Leaders, TOs and Judges, just as WotC has done in the past?
A. You can say that Pokémon. USA thinks you're a great resource. Endorse? Sure. (Sep 11, 2003 PUI Rules Team)

There's a bunch of those right at the top of the Compendium. http://compendium.pokegym.net/compendium-lvx.html
