I've long been a staunch aficionado for this deck. Unfortunately, I won't be able to play it for anything other than a couple of Battle Roads in its strongest form. I've been waiting for Ultra Ball and Random Receiver for a very, very long time, and now I finally get to integrate them into my favorite deck. Let's see how this works...

Pokemon (16):
4 Cyndaquil
2 Quilava
4 Typhlosion Prime
4 Reshiram
2 Smeargle

Trainers (32):
4 Candy
4 Ultra Ball
3 Junk Arm
1 Super Rod
2 PlusPower
2 Catcher
2 Random Receiver
4 Collector
4 Sage
4 PONT
2 Juniper

Energy (12):
12 Fire

I think that, by now, we all know what the strategy behind this deck is. We're setting up lots and lots of Typhlosion to power up lots and lots of Reshiram and keep hitting for 120 every single turn.

Those Trainers, I'm going back and forth on them more often than you can possibly imagine. I'm not going below 4 Candy, but just about everything else is up for grabs. I'm also thinking hard about putting Mewtwo back in there, but I'm not sure if that's as good of an anti-Mewtwo as simply using Blue Flare over and over again.

I know I want to play TyRam for as long as I possibly can. I'm just trying to figure out the best way to play it right now...

Who needs quilavas? Cut those suckers and go aggro.

Random receiver does not combo well with collector.

0 N?! Are you crazy? It's like the best supporter for this deck, it let's you make so many pro plays.

I gotta agree, random receiver doesn't work the best with this deck just because you run collector and sometimes you may get stuck with one. I still think pokegear 3 is the better play. I also think you should add at least a couple DCE just for the scenario when one of your typhlosions is catcher'd and hit with 120 attack (130 w/ PP) and you cant afterburner to retreat. It also lets you continue to outrage after you discard with reshiram.

My suggestions:
- 1 smeargle
- 1 candy
- 2 PONT's
- 2 random reciever
- 2 Fire

+ 1 super rod (in the chance 1 in prized)
+ 1 junk arm
+ 1 catcher
+ 2 N
+ 3 DCE

The deck does not function unless there are 2+ Cyndaquil in play on turn 1. The 2 Random Receivers are there for one simple purpose. Give me 6 potential outs for a Collector on turn 1. I don't trust Gear. Not in the least. It doesn't dig deep enough for me.

If I'm adding DCE for the specific scenario you're talking about, I might as well add a Switch. Same thing, searchable, and saves my attachment.

My experience with N is thus: Every time I use it, it's either too late to make a difference, or it actively helps my opponent. I don't like either option. And my experience with PONT is nothing but positive. There has never been a scenario where I'm holding any of my Supporters (other than Collector) and I'm thinking "I'd rather have an N". This is not bias. This is every single time, without question or hesitation. N has screwed me over every time, and it has never once helped me. I'd rather have PONT or Juniper than N in my deck.

I tried the deck with 3 Candy and 4 Junk. It was too slow. I couldn't find my Candies when I needed them. I switched, and went T8 losing to Pooka after a 5-2 whiff by 0.54%. 4 Candy, 3 Arm is the PLAY in this deck. If I could fit in a 4th Arm without saccing a Candy, I'd do it. But I don't see anything that I'd ditch for an Arm in here.

As far as the energy count. My pre-DEX version had a Mewtwo and 13 energy total (2DCE). If I'm taking out anything for anything, I'm looking to fit that Mewtwo back in.

Smeargle is replacing Cleffa in this version of the deck. And I do NOT want that one card prized. I can't attack on turn 1 anyway, so I don't really care if Smeargle is stuck Active for Turn 1. I do NOT want to end turn 1 with anything less than 2 Cyndaquil in play, preferably 3. Typhlosion is the single most important card in this deck. It needs to get into play sooner rather than later. And it needs to get in play en masse. This is not like EelBox, where you can survive with 2 Eels in play. If you have 2 Typhlosion in play after turn 3, you're generally losing.

As far as Super Rod, I can't really justify playing more than 1 of them. I've overloaded the deck so much with Pokemon that I won't need it until I've taken at least 3 prizes. And if I need it before then, I've already lost, Super Rod or not. 2 Rods is overkill.

With that justification I can understand that, I just don't like getting the collector late in game when you need the hand refresh for an energy but if that doesn't bother you I can understand the play.

The reason I like the DCE when I play TyRam is it still allows my reshiram to hit for the outrage no matter what but I can understand the argument against as well just to carry basic for afterburner.

Again understandable but I still think 1-2 N isn't a bad play but thats up to you.

The only thing I can see ditching is possibly a smeargle/ultra ball/fire energy but I think that would greatly mess with your consistency so I again understand the argument for a 4-3 candy/junk arm combo just to get the typhlosions up and running, I just think an extra junk arm or catcher may help you out.

Overall, your list seems extremely well thought out so well done! I don't know if you like experimenting with your list but a fun card to play is max potion if you can find the room. I've been trying it with my TyRam deck and it actually can flow pretty well, but I don't know if it would work in a tournament.

Reshiram EX doesn't work well with Typhlosion. Too much damage to get it out correctly, and it really only gets one attack before it goes down. Reshiram EX is better with Emboar. No damage, faster powerups, easier to maintain.

What can I take out for Mewtwo? I can't see the 3 cards I'd need to find for a Mewtwo and 2 DCEs.

I would drop, this could be seen as a personal dislike for the card, 2 random reciever and a sages (I like ST but 10/11 supporters seems the way to go in this format).

Random Receiver is the 5th and 6th Collector, which is the one card I need to have in my hand on turn 1. Those aren't going anywhere. And I'm a bit of a consistency nut. The more draw cards I can put in here, the happier I am. I might, MIGHT, take out a Smeargle for a Mewtwo. But that'll require some playtesting to see what the correct ratio looks like. But that still leaves one other card I'd need to take out. Gah, I'll figure this out somehow...

I'm sorry but Random Receiver is purely inferior to Pokegear 3.0 when you are running Collector. With 4 Collector, you have roughly a 49% chance of it being in the opening hand. With Pokegear (if one is not prized), you have roughly a 65% chance of hitting a Collector.

Let's say that you play 10 Draw Supporters (relatively common) and one get one in your opening hand, and none in the prizes to keep it consistent with the Collectors. The odds of the first card on the deck (after drawing for the turn) being a draw supporter is 19.5%, compared to the 8.5% chance of it being collector.

If you whiff on both Collector and a draw supporter on the first card, there is a 19.5% chance of a draw supporter as the second card compared to 8.6% chance of it being a Collector. The third card would be a 20% chance and a 8.89% chance.

You can see the growing disparity between the two probabilities. You are significantly more likely to hit a draw supporter with Random Receiver and not get the Collector. Conversely, you have the most optimal chance of hitting a turn one Collector with Gear.

Here's the problem with Gear. Early game, when I would need it most, it has a nontrivial chance of getting nothing. To me, getting a nonideal outcome is better than getting zero outcome.

Yes, due to variance (more specifically, imperfect randomization) we whiff with Gear sometimes. However, in this format tyRam needs the T1 Collector or it loses anyway. Gear is the superior methid of getting the Turn 1 Gear, period. Wanting a Turn 1 supporter is a completely different animal and, imo, the completely wrong approach to this deck. However, to each his own. Good luck
