We are going to nationals for the first time since
it was in St Louis. Anyone have an idea when registration will start and end on Friday the 4th?

Last year they had registration open the day before. They had registration open for a short window early on Friday Morning for those few who didn't register the day before. Register the day before to get a few extra minutes of sleep on Friday.

Any way to register online in advance?

I absolutely can not get off of work any day that week. So we will be leaving Seattle on the night of the 3rd landing in Indianapolis at 8:35 am local time Anyone know how long it will take to got to the convention center via taxi? What time was the Friday registration window last year? When did the first round start?

Last year's online pre-registration only put you in a hypothetically "easier" line for the Thursday night registration. Who knows what this year will bring.

    8:00 - 8:30am was Friday Morning Registration

Any sort of online registration will probably require you to check in (pay if you are a master) before they put you into the computer. They simply do not put everyone who preregisters into the computer... people may not show up.

I wonder how it works for VGC, like JandPDS I haven't been to Nats in a while (since 2010), and VGC was a very small population of players, so I just remember showing up to the main hall to get my voucher since I guess I'd been registered or something. I'm not even sure what day the event is held, if anyone happens to know of a schedule it'd be helpful, as I was planning on flying in Friday afternoon and playing (presumably) Saturday and Sunday, with a late flight out Sunday or Monday morning.

Check in is different than Registration:

Online registration will open in May and remain open until all seats have been filled, or until 9 p.m. Thursday, July 3. Links to the online registration form will be posted when it becomes available.
Players may use on-site terminals to register online Thursday, July 3, between 4 and 6 p.m.
There will be no on-site registration Friday, July 4.

You guys did note the part about Friday registration right?

Nationals traditionally runs on Friday and Saturday, with the Finals on Sunday.

This year, it still begins on Friday but earlier than ever. You have to register online beforehand, and physically check-in on Thursday or risk it at the last minute Friday morning 7:00-7:30am. It also looks like the first 9 rounds of Swiss will occur solely on Friday, meaning everyone who isn't Top 32 at that point is free to play in other side events on Saturday.

Yeah I saw that earlier today also, dunno how I feel about the extra day since that's now another day of hotel costs...but eh if I don't crack t32, they have a zoo somewhere around Indianapolis right?

I am glad they have the Friday registration, we ate 600 dollars to rebook an earlier flight for my wife and daughter. I will not be able to go. But the plane will not land until 6:00 PM on Thursday (not direct flights from Seattle to Indianapolis) so at least my daughter will get to play after all. We figure Nationals should be a helpful experience to ready her to play in Worlds.

Last time she went to Nationals in St Louis she was a brand new player with Machamp. She was 0-3 and after round 4 I went to help her gather her cards and such. I saw that she had 5 prize cards remaining and her opponent had only two. But then my daughter circled that she won. I told her that Sarah don't circle there, circle that you lost. My five year old looked at me and insisted that she won. I told her Sarah there is not way you won. And then the slightly older girl who was her opponent exclaimed that indeed Sarah did win the game. Very Puzzled now I asked how this was possible? The girl who lost explained that Sarah had KO'd all of her Pokémon that she had in play. I saw the girls Discard pile and then understood. My daughter had used the take out attack of her Machamps to remove every last pokemon that the girl had in play but had only remembered one time to take a prize. I am hoping she better remembers to take prizes this time at nationals.

Has there been any update to this, we are in late may and still no link to registration.

For anyone curious, registration will begin to be available next week.

(Yeah, it's not "May" but I'm sure one month will be enough for everyone to register...)

  17. Super easy tool - thank you everybody. Got the whole family registered and paid for in about 5 minutes. (Most of that time was spent looking up the kids' ID numbers!) :)

Is there anyway of knowing if you are registered? Cause when I did it there was no confirmation. I entered my info then my credit card and then submit. After that it just took me back to my info page again.

  19. You should get an email confirmation to whatever email you gave.

If you did not see a screen that said:

Then, go back to the registration page and input your data again and hit submit: If you are good to go you will see:

If not, I am sure it will tell you.
