US Nats attendance

What were the attendance for 2005 and 2006, Juniors, Seniors, and Masters? My dad wants to know how much much competition I'm going to have (about). I would most want the Juniors because I'm in Juniors.:smile:

Just from my area alone...I can see the numbers being higher than that.

JUNIORS

In 2004 St. Louis sent 2 players to Nationals

In 2005 we sent 4

In 2006 the number crept up to 5

In 2007, my initial list has 9 players. You WILL be able to tell who we are.

(We do have 2 returning top 8 players from last year!)

I could see nats juniors having 140 players in it relatively easily.

You're using a linear progression estimate for your attendence.
If the attendence followed a linear growth, then we would expect 115 for this year.
What if the progression were geometric or exponetial?

From the numbers, we had a 59% growth in Juniors from 03-04 to 04-05.
We had a 53% growth from 04-05 to 05-06.
Using a 50% growth estimate, we would expect at least 135 in Juniors.
Using a 60% growth rate, we hit 144.

On the total event, we go from 500+ to 750-800 using 50% growth.
That's the number I'm expecting to see.
 
It's always best to prepare for the worst case scenario as far as space goes.

JR progression: 37-> 59 -> 90.
Expected Maximum Attendance: ~175 (assuming exponential growth function)

SR progression: ?? -> 92 -> 130
Expected Maximum Attendance: ~200

MA progression: ?? -> 238 -> 316
Expected Maximum Attendance: ~500

Could we have a 900 player Nationals? That would be MOST interesting!!

I think that Pop's estimate at 750-800 is a little high, personally. I think that 700-750 is more reasonable...

Don't tell your dad anything, just show him your Regionals trophy and the paperwork (free trip) and say "here ya go daddyo" Competition, what competition? Tell mom and dad to call us if they have any questions, we can answer anything about Nationals.
 
You can add probably close to 100 people alone who now will go to nats as their big pokemon-related trip of the year instead of worlds. There were many (including me) who just skipped nationals and used the money to travel to worlds just to see everybody.
